Guess I'll be on the lookout at 9am ET tomorrow. That's the same time as the OLED reveal, though funnily Nintendo's shift from Tuesdays to Wednesdays this year mean both would be on July 6th.

(It was actually at 9:01, I'm sure there'll be no anxiety if they do that again)

A Splatoon special edition is certainly quite plausible, but those don't get anywhere near the fanfare of even a minor revision like the Switch Lite or Switch OLED. At best, they get tacked on to a related announcement in a Direct.

Q4 CY is when new hardware releases almost always, October the earliest new hardware could launch imo

Yeah but it's not the same lol

Buying games on the console you're gonna be playing them on is much more satisfying!

In fact, Nintendo needs to bring back the "tap to open your little present," thing that you got when buying games on 3DS.

Same, but I think if a Switch Pro is coming a big thing would be to show the improvements it will make on old Switch games.

So I go play videogames for a couple of days and come back to find we are getting a new Switch announced this month.

That's why playing games should be avoided, kids.

It’s not only that is more satisfying but that it means directly after buying it the game starts downloading so you can play as early as possible your new game!

Pretty sure Lite was July 11th. Next week seems more likely with the Splatoon gap factored in (if we are getting anything at all).

honestly thinking this is going to be another thing where they do multiple videos, have a hardware thing showing new features and clips of upcoming games, then start dropping Treehouse vids going more in-depth. maybe a mini Direct-ish thing in between to reveal/rereveal a few things

Yep, July 11th is extremely off-limits for Nintendo. Kit and Krysta said this in a recent podcast. They didn’t say specifically why, but they said something along the lines of “they would not do anything on July 11th for a very good reason” and then moved on.
 
What sort of got me with OLED announcement was the way that it played the BotW2 and Dread trailers.

So they sort of had to make cartridges that played the trailers on the console itself?
 
I gotta say, Xenoblade Chronicles 3 coming out mere months before a Switch Pro releases - and not getting an upgrade patch - would be a tragedy of almost Shakespearean proportions.
 
I swear if the freaking Raccoon really willed the new Switch model into existence I will eat Labo cardboard.

That is really amazing that Nintendo still places that much significance on Iwata's passing. I don't think many other companies would do the same.

I think they'd patch it in one of the DLC updates. XC2 had some freebies in its DLC updates so I'm hopeful on that end
