We could see Splatoon 3 running on new hardware in its dedicated direct if the new hardware actually gets announced soon

people being like “i still don’t know what Splatoon 3 is bringing to the table that wasn’t in Splatoon 2” don’t realize the answer is “4K graphics they just can’t say it yet”

you know what I could totally see happening in this thread?

After an uneventful first week, hype and hopium start inflating with the expectation of a hardware reveal mid-July.

Rumblings of something start to happen, and hype skyrockets far past unsafe levels. We catch wind of something being announced in a matter of days. Might even be next Monday the 11th!!

11th rolls around and they announce... a Direct. Shit goes pandemonium. Half the site is melting down over a hardware reveal, the other half is freaking out and trying to remind the melted half that hardware doesn't get revealed in Directs, but to no avail - patterns have been thrown out the window and hype has infected every single person in this thread.

Then the Direct rolls around and it's entirely software-based with not a crumb of hardware for the rest of the month.

This..... this wasn't in the script

One important note for all of who say this has to launch with BOTW2:

The situation back then, because some say the Switch was pushed due to Zelda BOTW (I really dont know anything about that), was a very bad one for Nintendo. Because no other big games that attract the masses were available for launch, it had to launch with BOTW. Not a single company pushes its hardware because of lack of 1 title. Just look at Xbox Series X launching without Halo 1 1/2 years ago.

This time everything is different:

-Nintendo is far from going bankrupt (the total opposite actually)
-This new hardware wont be a complete new generation
-You have plenty of AAA games coming to Switch this year, like Mario Rabbids (remember the tweet of Jason Schreier in regards to Switch 4K and this particular game) , Metroid Prime Remaster, Splatoon 3 and many more maybe even a Zelda Double Pack and because we still dont know shit maybe a new DK or Mario game too.

You dont need BOTW2 as a launch title with this portfolio and this situation.

This is happening because we doubted raccoon. When will we ever learn to not doubt raccoon

I hope if there is new hardware it's still "Switch" branded. I'm one of the maniacs who gained some life and happiness when they said the Switch was "halfway through its life cycle."

If this doesn't describe your current state, what are you even doing in this thread

Tomorrow might be something coming, but I'm not holding my breath for hardware reveal. I still have this funny feeling (PATTERNS) that Switch hardware is on a bi-yearly basis, and there will be DLSS goodness in 2023.

I accidentally ignore threads from time to time due to being clumsy scrolling on mobile. I'm terrified of one day accidentally reporting someone with a "report reason" flied with blank spaces. I must stay focused.

OK I’m gonna type up a post (mostly off the top of my head) of the evidence we’ve gotten recently

- The Switch OLED reveal trailer went private. Nintendo regularly makes videos private when there is a similar video about to be released, to ensure people are watching the latest video and not the older one by mistake. For example, if there was a Direct on Smarch 10th, 2021, and there’s going to be a Direct on Smarch 11th 2022, they’ll private the first one to ensure people are not watching it by mistake, and are instead engaging with the most up-to-date video presentation.

- There’s a month-long Splatoon 2 tournament being held this month (July 2022). There was one last year too, where every week there was a round of the tournament. However, Nintendo is taking next week off with no reason given. One assumption is that their social media/marketing team will be busy with something else. This of course, has not been confirmed.

Don’t they do this all the time and usually means nothing for a loooong time? Sometimes never?
So, like, yes .

But they also privated the Lite reveal video specifically within days of the OLED reveal. No one really knows why, but my assumption would be so that people searching 'Switch reveal' or 'new Switch video' are more likely to find the right thing.
