StarTopic Future Nintendo Hardware & Technology Speculation & Discussion |ST| (Read the staff posts before commenting!)

Pretty much this. In fact, I have a hard time seeing Nintendo going back to some of their service. Their message board, the miiverse? Why? When you can share your content on the mainstream media and get free advertisements.
Apparently not enough to sway their mind, but it's not a total replacement. Miiverse worked well as a hub for user content of a standardized format being shared in-game anyway. Messages seen in Nintendo Land, NSMBU, Smash Bros., etc. For Switch ports and sequels rather than bothering with a workaround, we just lost it.

I went back to the Switch presentation 2017 thread to remember the reactions on GAF...Oh my lord, I forgot how bad it is.

"March 3rd?" Wow, that's sooner than expected!
"$299?" Wow, DOA I can't believe Nintendo already fucked up this bad, I could get a PS4 for cheaper. DOA
"Paid Online?" Wow. DOA confirmed, I can't believe Nintendo would do this
"Region Free" I guess the one good thing...But still, $299 and paid online
" 2.5-6h battery life? DOA!!!"
"Hurry Nintendo get to the good stuff! or DOA!"
"Wow, no launch games other than Zelda, DOA"

I remembered why I don't follow the threads live and just watch the presentation, the second the conference is at a slower point and/or says something not everyone loves it it gets so negative.

My reaction was money bags. I immediately went to go buy a suit and monocle. I forgive Nintendo fans for missing the obvious mega win that day but some others are clearly not cultured.

Nintendo uploaded this Switch commercial, I'm surprised they didn't know any 2023 games on there. They focused on Breath of the Wild, Odyssey, Bowsers Fury and Sword and Shield.

I never understand why in these generic "buy a Switch" commercials that they make multiple times every year, they always use the same like 5-6 games over and over. Like do they think those that saw it back in 2017/2018 are gonna look at them selling the game game for the 11th time in 2023 and be like "That looks good, let me buy it"?

I agree. They should build up their new releases, maybe make a "Here's the gigantic lineup of diverse games we have that you'll love" commercial instead of showing Mario Kart 8 Deluxe for the billionth time or Odyssey

Well, yeah, I guess Nintendo just didn't believe in it anymore. I mean it would be nice to have it again.

Anyway, if anything I wonder if there's no reveal in January will there be info dropped on us like a spec sheet or something.

that Twitter account that posts Samsung updates & shared something vague about SW2 (early 2024) is closing up shop. did the ninjas get to him? lol

I recommend taking whatever Tech_Reve says with a very healthy grain of salt for the reasons I've mentioned below.
I recommend taking what Tech_Reve posts with a healthy grain of salt, since Tech_Reve did posted rumours with factually incorrect and likely incorrect information. I've put a couple of examples below.

And T234's used for AGX Orin (here and here), Orin NX, and Orin Nano.

Tech_Reves 100% doesn't know shit.

Except Nvidia explicitly said Orin was fabricated using Samsung's 8 nm* process node during Hot Chips 34.
(I mention this, because there's a false rumour that Orin's fabricated using Samsung's 7LPH process node as shown below. And by the way, Samsung's 7LPH process node doesn't officially exist.)

* → a marketing nomenclature used by all foundry companies

Also, the same person that said T239's fabricated using Samsung's 7LPH (8LPH+) process node also said that the RTX 30 GPUs were fabricated using Samsung's 8LPH process node. (And by the way, Samsung's 8LPH process node doesn't officially exist.)
3000 시리즈는 8LPH일겁니다
The 3000 series is 8LPH

I usually find fan mockups a hit or miss, but this fanmade Switch 2 UI is actually really nice, and I wouldn't mind if it looked like this.

I’ve heard people say they’ll keep the OS the same, but I do think they’ll use it as one of the differentiators. Similar, sure - the same way that PS4 and PS5 UI were clearly related. But surely they’ll change things, especially when considering the baseline 8” 1080p screen we’re likely getting.

Lollll.

Let's be honest we all wish this was true.

Agreed, I think it will keep the simple look but they will make it look different enough from the Switch.

We all wish lol

If the flash card is even real I’m sure we’ll see many banned Switches floating around a short time after release.
I have a CFW switch but I also hope the flash cart is real. Flash carts are more convenient than modchips though not safer (due to not having an alternate OS ala Atmosphere). Atmosphere simply squashes all those logs and hardware ids to make you anonymous.

Can we expect gamecards of future titles to be more expansive?

Flashcart for the Switch? WHEW. They're gonna get the Switch 2 out REAL quick and selling remasters of the games on Switch 2 carts then.
Or they'll gonna revamped and change the gamecart interface on the Switch 2 so it will be less prone to emulation and thus adding more development time.

Yeah this is sarcasm? "There's definition a chance I'm being serious" =/= "I'm being serious". "Don't look at the calendar or anything" seems like he's mocking the guy because it would be ridiculous to announce a new console 2 days before people open their own systems on Christmas. This is sarcasm, I'm 99.9% sure.

Yes I read it too quickly. but now that you say it, think he means don't look at something so basic as a calendar.

He's being sarcastic implying that Nintendo's answer to full on piracy coming to all Switch models would be releasing the Switch 2. He wasn't seriously suggesting an announcement.
Of course, it's obvious. 🙂
I was only responding to the user who stated that it didn't concern the new hardware.

I remember because someone made false rumours that Splatoon and Smash weren’t going to be new games, people refused to accept they were in actuality, new games.

No way. This isn't like the PlayStation where the OS very genuinely is different, this probably isn't going to be a different OS. I'd say the exact same UI, with nothing but some scaling changes to suit the new resolution, and some new features like themes.

Remasters on a backwards compatible console, that's historically not gone well. If anything this could see them double down on free upgrades, because as soon as someone jams this thing into their Switch 2, it phones home for the update, gets told it's a pirate cart, and bricks itself.

Really wish sarcasm is left for April fools instead of Christmas/Christmas Eve. With English as 2nd language it pains me to comprehend them sometimes.
