StarTopic Future Nintendo Hardware & Technology Speculation & Discussion |ST| (Read the staff posts before commenting!)

F-Zero 99 being leaked to him as F-Zero GX HD strongly suggests he has 4th hand info, so it could have been something like "gotta get ready for March!" being said by a couple of devs (either for launch or to get their reveal trailer ready) and then passed down to Nate after multiple hand offs.
Regardless if his info is nth hand, he’s hardly ever got anything wrong. Seems like you put a lot of stock in the rumours and over hype yourself, so it’s easy to become disappointed, and then you just come and post contrarian things for contrarians sake. Be patient lol

Nintendo direct in march
"Nintendo switch 2 is available today for 399"
sony state of play later that day
"Ps5 slim available this summer for 299" Micrdrop
like iphones? (2 weeks between ordering and people receiving)
I dont think it, by then it for sure has leaked (more game devs need it then phone devs prior to release)
but...it would be fun. Eithere way, it will be sold out for probably the first year. So why not.

Then why not link it here, back your evidence up if you're so confident in it hmm?
Yo, dog - chill a little bit. As you said, other folks have seen this data, and those who have will step in to confirm or disconfirm. No need to be hostile, or try to do that on your own account when you yourself don't have the data to confirm or disconfirm.

Can we please assume that new users are decent people until proven otherwise? And can we ourselves act like decent people when they first meet us?

This is a great community, but outside of here, Fami tends to get associated with this thread, and in some circles that association is not positive. And it's because we've got 1600 pages of hardware speculation, and we tend to treat any new user like they have to get caught up on all that (or "read the OP" which is a fantastic resource but not exactly succinct) or they're not allowed to participate.

But just as bad, to me, is some of us go into other communities, and then present our conclusions without providing the data, and present it as fact. And also as if Fami is a monolith who have One Correct Conclusion.

I can't control what folks post elsewhere, as long as it's inside the Fami rules, but when someone comes into the community, bearing legitimate and accurate info that you yourself don't have the knowledge to confirm or disconfirm, can we not increase that reputation for being insular know-it-alls?

I realize this is coming off a bit strong - I've got nothing against you, hell, I like you. But your enthusiasm can come off as antagonistic.

And as for @imw, welcome

It might be for the best if F-Zero GX Remastered didn't release ... as much as I would love it, I'm sure it will be there for the GameCube Expansion on NSO probably next year and if the game sold less than expected then Nintendo may just use it as an excuse to bury the IP for another 10 years.

Honestly, Nintendo using hall effect would be a net benefit for the rest of the industry because sony and microsoft would be forced to follow suit. That would make them standard and we'd look back at this potentiometer era in disgust forever.

You know what they say, Nintendo leads, and everyone else follows. 😜

Or the Nintendo Bang Bang Maxwell's Silver Hammer.

Maybe something really cool is coming back... or come for the first time over here.

I thought this was a bit silly, but I just checked Origami King, Odyssey, 3D World (Switch version), and Mario Party Superstars and they all had basic white button prompts. I think I'm on board the colored button theory!

Regarding miHoYo some months ago the devs said to me that was still working on a Switch version for Genshin Impact

Recently however, i’ve heard from a source that the project was moved to their (Nintendo) next console together with more games (Honkai?)

I wouldn't count on gamecube nso being a thing if they wanna still do remasters

I kinda feel the button thing is just Super Mario RPG being faithful to the source and TTYD copying it because that arguably makes more sense than re-using the GCN button colors (three colors for four identical face buttons is ???). But who knows.

huh? you can tell it's a remake by looking at it
I swear, this has become the Famiboards version of defining a catch in the NFL lol

Except worse, because everyone has their own definitions and then gets confused when other people use their own

to be a bit contrarian: Mario RPG it can be a nod to its origin, and with Paper Mario, the buttons where colored, so there was the need to chose new colors, and if you already have to, the snes colors are just iconic for nintendo (also from the new 3ds), so it would be a fun nod.

(i still hope its true, its a fun theory, doesnt hurt nobody, low stakes, high fun factor)

Man with the recent demo of star ocean 2 R, I'm just sad the Switch 2 isn't released already. It looks fine but after trying it on the Steam Deck, I just wish the Switch ran like that. The Switch is a cheaper system to get games for in my region and I prefer physical (plus convenient TV dock play) but I wish we could have better performance already.
Edit: the sad thing is, that's the kinda game that will never be patched.

I'm super ready for that switch 2

I'm gonna try and present this extrapolation as unmaldingly as possible, since people really don't care for that here...

but if we take button theory as fact, connected to other extrapolations of rumors about the form of the device, I could see it being related to the death of Joy-Con, at least for now.

Colored buttons work against sideways play, both because the orientation shifts and the left Joy-Con normally doesn't have face buttons.

A bigger 8N SOC device could benefit from being an all-in-one construction like the Switch Lite or most handheld PCs.

Finally, a bigger and heavier device would be less comfortable with Joy-Con, even if they're contoured in some way. The connection point would be under more stress at the bigger size.

How would the hybrid function (assuming pretty safely that it is one) work? I assume it'd include a new Pro Controller, with these SFC buttons of course, in the box.

Likely Genshin Impact, Honkai Star Rail and the still in development Zenless Zone Zero:

“We’re certainly thinking about how to make this game available across platforms, and that includes Nintendo.”

coincidentally this was at gamescom 0.0

seems like a good move. nintendo would probably make insane money cutting into hoyoverses gacha revenue.

I feel like Nintendo dropped hints on purpose, and took it off the English Direct

(SNES Version)

They did the same with Paper Mario...

If they wanted to match Switch buttons they would have gone with neutral tones, they went with Superfamicom colors instead, I think it's done on purpose and that's our first official tease, and they took it off the English Direct version to not make it super obvious.

These games are future proof and they will be working on Switch 2, Switch 2 will be back compat.

Well done Nintendo thats a good tease.

During the Bowser section the B button prompt is yellow too. It's really using the SNES button palette.

It’s choosing the New 3DS palette, to be more exact. Guess it’s what you want to see in it lol

Which I choose to believe, because it makes sense that Nintendo will position this new hardware similarly to this upgrade.

Same family, plays the same games but better, has some exclusives from
Nintendo, but mostly not. 3rd party can do whatever they want.

So using the button color differential makes sense to separate them visually

So they took it out of English Direct eh? I think that kind of weakens the theory that it was "just a coincidence". Yeah, Super Mario RPG remake could just be faithful to original color scheme, but that doesn't explain PM:TTYD. And the fact that Nintendo removed it from English Direct makes it even more interesting.

I'm sure replies would be "Nah, it's still just a coincidence and Nintendo decided to remove it from English Direct so people don't get the wrong idea it's planned for next Switch"

Didn't the New 3DS come out just 3.5 years after the 3DS? After 7 years, it seems more likely that it'd be a full successor like the Super Famicom was, right?
