I love seeing Japanese Metroid fans post cool stuff on Twitter. They're just as enthusiastic and passionate about the series as we are, even despite there being fewer of them.I wonder what it's like to be Japanese and then see Metroid Prime 4 as closer. Just like the most mild, tame reaction, as if we got a farm sim as a closer here.
Tonight’s theme is anime songs and with their powers combined I think we’ll make it happen!
Holy fuckin vibes
Anyway I was just thinking about this OP the other day so I'll start off with this, the second season opening of Honey and Clover:
In addition to being just a weird friggin opening, the song itself hooked me so hard that it was in regular rotation in my car for years while driving back and forth to college. Actually all the OPs and EDs for this series are fantastic. Actually the whole series is fantastic. Ran across it during a sort of idyllic, formative time in my life so it tugged the heartstrings at the perfect time for them to be ripe for the tugging. And the music takes me right back.
I was going to tell everyone to watch Trigun, but all the cool people have probably done that already. So I'll ask you all to watch Death Parade instead.

Ooh! That same singer, Yuki, sings another OP I really love. The second opening of March Comes In Like A Lion which is one of favorite shows!
You absolutely do Choco! March is amazingThat artstyle even looks like H&C, huh..
*googles*
Omg!! That series was written/illustrated by the same mangaka! So cool that they brought the same singer back for the adaptation of another one of her series!
And now I need to see March Comes In Like A Lion
Even thought they weren't so great? Thanks for the memory.
oh, n/mGreat show lol
Is anyone else kinda worried we won’t get any surprises this direct? Like even last direct pyoro didn’t leak everything, but this time I have a bad feeling he already leaked everything except the closer. Like think about what we are almost certainly getting: Mario RPG news blowout, splatoon dlc blowout, warioware trailer, mario wonder trailer, peach game blowout, Mario kart dlc, Mario vs DK, F-Zero announcement(s), and another Code/ trace memory remakes. That’s enough to fill out most of a direct, so I just hope we get some surprises in here beyond the closer. Maybe smash news?
Hey everyone Day 2 of the Last Call - Summon The Direct Event begins now! From now until the hour prior to the Tweeting Hour (the time between the first tweet of the day and the popular Direct announcement time), I’ll be posting new songs every hour united under a new theme. I readily encourage everyone to join in the fun and share their own songs they love while keeping the good vibes and great discussion flowing!
Last night we tried to summon the TGS Direct with RPG songs and today we’ll try from another angle. Tonight’s theme is anime songs and with their powers combined I think we’ll make it happen! Feel free to share your favorite OPs, EDs, insert songs, as well as anime songs from games! Like last night, please be kind to mobile users and share one song per post. Multiple posts are highly encouraged! I think sharing OPs and EDs directly will be most popular, so if you want to include the full song too consider hyperlinking a separate link in! I plan to do that for my own posts where possible
I’ll kick off the fun tonight with the OP from Baccano! It’s a crowd pleaser
Full song here!
The vibes are feeling great tonight so let’s all have a fun time together and summon the September Direct! 8 hours to go
Even thought they weren't so great?
oh, n/m
Reach deep into your Inner Universe and summon the direct
Question is: am I going down swinging?Hey. You're goin down.
I'm taking this as permission to post late-2000s/early-2010s anime AMVs now.Even thought they weren't so great?
Without a doubt one of the greatest, if not the greatest anime I‘ve watched. The experience I made watching S2 was so special that I‘m still feeling entranced by the series 5 years later.. good thing that the manga doesn‘t lose a single step whatsoever. And now I need to see March Comes In Like A Lion
NOW WE'RE TALKINGI'm taking this as permission to post late-2000s/early-2010s anime AMVs now.
Top 10 opening of all time
If it cost more than 500€ yesWill Nintendo announce the Switch 2 at the Apple Event?
Oh no I didn’t think of this. AngryAlchemist’s was Utena.being european
Yup! I’ve been updating it. And yup, Laurence and Ludwig are already down and I’m on Maria now! The base game already made an impression that it would be one of my all time favorites, but the DLC brings it up even more. It feels so naturally integrated too. Like if you got an item after the Wet Nurse that took you to the Hunter’s Nightmare, it would still flow so well. The game still feels like it’s escalating, and that I’m in the final third of itBloodborne is an absolute masterpiece, imo. It's in my top ten for sure. Glad you're enjoying it. When I checked Era recently, I noticed you'd posted an LTTP there, and I'm assuming you're still updating it? I'll have to have a read through when I find the time.
But yeah, Bloodborne does world design exceptionally well, and traveling from location to location feels simultaneously interconnected and claustrophobic, as you put it. Yharnam feels like a big city, but this is more accomplished through art direction and sights, versus pointlessly huge areas (though I know some folks really aren't fond of the Forbidden Woods). This is why I just didn't vibe with Elden Ring much, I'm tired of everything being a tedious open world. I thought FromSoft would make theirs better, and in fairness, they did, but the more linear dungeons were still the actual meat of the game.
You'll play The Old Hunters, right? It elevates the entire experience.
I would actually agree that the creature design in Prime could use an upgrade! There’s a ton of great stuff, but yeah I think they could go even higherI remember reading a blog from one of Retros artists a bit after Tropical Freeze released, and they were saying how much they've been recently influenced by FROM's work. It makes a lot of sense because my feelings while playing their Souls(bornekieroring) games over the last decade are the only games that give me the same feelings of atmosphere and world building that Retro's games give me. Those games were obviously influenced by Metroid and Prime, so I'm curious to see what cues Retro might take from them, if any. Or maybe they'll just simply evolve their own formula.
I do hope Rero can get on FROMs level in terms of creature/character design. They're good, but definitely not to the level of their environment artists.
I’m already thinking about NG+ and I’m not even done with NG!I've been playing Bloodborne for hours a day for the past week or so. It's tied for my favorite game of all time, alongside XB2.
Incredible set pieces, boss designs, lore, worldbuilding, atmosphere, environmental storytelling, and most importantly, gameplay. I pick it up and get re-obsessed with it at least once per year.
I started a Bloodtinge build today. Basically dumping all my stats into Bloodtinge and parrying my way through the game. Named my character Perry von Gunthorpe. Already fighting the Shadows of Yharnam....
Ooh! That same singer, Yuki, sings another OP I really love. The second opening of March Comes In Like A Lion which is one of favorite shows!
It's the only one I can't see for some reason (I bet @AngryAlchemist did it on purpose to spite me for liking Tropical Freeze)Oh no I didn’t think of this. AngryAlchemist’s was Utena.
the GOAT
Season 3 will surely be announced soon, any day now.
Remember last week the Japanese comedian Noda Crystal announced that his third Switch party game will be reveled on Thursday the 14th? After receiving some intense attention, Noda clarified that he has no knowledge of the Direct, and his announcement is “completely unrelated”.
Hopefully we get both this and a GX port
but just by itself I think there’s a good deal of potential to be cool.
