it's a mecha game styled after the Capcom Gundam games (made by the same devs) but a bit more cartoony and perhaps kid-friendly. also unlike Gundam you have hundreds of mechs to choose form in stead of a few. the game is still a gamecube exclusive that has never been ported to any other console.
aaah Gotcha.

We’ve already finished our second week of the Direct thread. That means we should have only four weeks or less to go if the September Direct arrives in time for TGS! Rumors should start picking up once Gamescom is over as all eyes will be on September! As we enter Week 3 it’s now time for our next question :)

Week 3 – From recent reports, we allegedly have another year ahead of more Switch. Which untapped series or character would you like to see get a new game before Switch 2 hits.

Curious to see what y’all pick! I think I’m rooting most for F-Zero and Fortune Street myself :)
Mario & Luigi and Tomodachi. But I know neither of those are going to happen.

I wanted to make an edit of that Both is good gif with Wave Race.

But it's too much work and i am too lazy so i just say it.

Wave Race.

Tbh I think maybe things are aligning for a new Super Mario Bros. Wonder trailer + previews in August already, or for new game to be announced for release in September the same way Ring Fit Adventure was announced in September for October.

That supposed mysterious third party game imho has to be either Resident Evil or that Taisen Mega Man game is some real big stuff that will change the scope of the series.

I'm not even thinking of the possibility of it being from another publisher since Ubisoft already released M+R, Square Enix always announces stuff on directs and Red Dead Redemption is already released.

I have a feeling we'll get something today or next week, like a new Mario Wonder trailer or something like that

Capcom has no reason to give distribution of either game to Nintendo, particularly when both franchises have recently seen cross-platform releases to accommodate disperse audiences. You're trying to fit a square peg in a round hole; Capcom's multimillion seller and the third-party game Nintendo is publishing are two different games

Maybe in Europe? At least outside of RE, MH, and Street Fighter, Capcom has an aversion to distributing physical copies in Europe.

It's possible, but it would have to be a really small scale title that Capcom has zero interest in bringing to the other platforms.

I'm not sure when the last platform exclusive from Capcom that didn't end up ported anywhere else was, maybe that ultra street fighter 2 that came in the first year of switch? But they're few and far between for the company, I wouldn't imagine they're doing anything that they would want Nintendo distribution for.

That might make sense for Mega Man, if they assume it's going to perform similar to 11, but then that's not a multimillion seller

If Nintendo has time and resources to distribute a third party game maybe they can check their sofa cushions for some money to finally localize Buddy Mission Bond.

Bunch of prominent games journalists have been tweeting about playing games they can't talk about behind closed doors at Gamescom.

Ah okay. Thanks.

Though, being honest, i fail to see how this relates to Nintendo of all companies. Given it's Gamescom, it could even be some PC game for what it's worth.

Are we in soonish territory?
Soon it'll all be over, and then there will be nothing but you and the infinite void.

Even so, Capcom apparently has quite lofty aspirations for the title, wanting it to ship upwards of two million units.

That's something that no Mega Man game has done on its own throughout its 35 year history. 11 has come closest at 1.7 million, but it's taken nearly 5 years and the game launched at a budget price point.

10 minutes for maybe something cool actually or we’re waiting until next week. Exciting to finally have a day with potential. (Even if it isn’t Direct potential haha)

am I the only one really really excited to see how much Pikmin 4 has sold so far globally? When do we get our next figures? October right, with sales data taken up until September 30th?

Yeah I don’t think they would’ve done anything big on a Friday. It usually Tuesday to Thursday.
The dream was fun while it lasted at least. I’m glad we got some tangible rumors / signs this week finally.
we still have 4PM :DDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDD
I love this attitude though! It’s the energy we need if we want to will a Direct into existence sooner!

The report on the rumor of Switch 2 at Gamescom mentioned that Nintendo had booked press showings for a game they were helping to distribute.

If their expectations are so high, why would they want Nintendo's help instead of handling it themselves? Either

a) the third-party game is the same as Capcom's expected multimillion seller and is in the exact sweet spot for which it makes sense for that game to both get Nintendo's assistance with publishing while also outselling the likes of MM11 (which essentially limits this to an extremely specific projection of Mega Man Taisen's performance), or

b) these are two different games, Nintendo isn't helping Capcom distribute their expected multimillion seller and is showing something like Snipperclips or The Stretchers

What of this Capcom game that Nintendo is helping to distribute that Capcom thinks will sell millions is Nintendo vs Capcom?

Yup, quarter ends at the end of September. I don't think Pikmin 4 hits 2m, but it for sure hit 1m.
It might hit 1 million in Japan alone at retail, I'd be shocked if it hasn't sold more then 2 million worldwide by the end of September

Why do so many think Nintendo is involved with the big early 2024 Capcom game? I thought it was universally agreed it was probably monster hunter 6 for ps5/series s/x?

Well there's hope Capcom noticed that MonHun Rise did somewhat okay and will opt for having a Switch 2 port of that unnamed, rumored, totally being MonHun game of early 2024.

I actually have a feeling that multiple things can be true.

For example, say Capcom's multi-million seller is probably Monster Hunter 6 (World's successor), while "Rockman Taisen" (with help from Nintendo) is regarded as some thing else, but is still an important part of Capcom's lineup.

Why would they seek out Nintendo's help for Taisen, in that case? Possibly for a number of reasons, but the easiest one to imagine is to offload some of the risk, especially since we might be talking about a new type of, and yet to be tested, Mega Man title. We are talking about the same Capcom that got in bed with Nintendo when it came to both Rise and Stories 2, as well as Sony before that when it came to World (especially in Japan). So, I don't think it should be completely off the table that Capcom isn't above making deals where it makes sense, and Rockman has always performed very well on Nintendo hardware.

Pikmin 4 has sold 700k physical in Japan alone, fwiw. I think this could be a 3 million actually!

EDIT: first message sounded a little bit rude so I made some edits

I wouldn’t count on it. The only way they show new console hardware in 2023 is if it’s going to be available in volume for the holiday season in 2023. I think it’s too late in the year for that, and no way they announce something in September that ships in March and devastates their holiday sales.
Nintendo would never anounce it next hardware this year, doing this would destroy Switch holidays sales and Nintendo surely want to avoid this

The Stretchers never got a physical release and Snipperclips didn't until after the DLC release. If Nintendo is distributing it's probably something larger even if it isn't multimillions

Even so, Capcom apparently has quite lofty aspirations for the title, wanting it to ship upwards of two million units.

From the ransomware leak, we know Taisen is expected to do 2 million over years as well. It's only expected to do 1.1 million in its launch year.

Capcom's big game is almost certainly MH6 and won't be on the Switch. The other possibility is Resident Evil. Apocalypse was slated for the end of this calendar year, but RE4 still needs the Seperate Ways DLC and there's the elusive RE Switch title.

The game Nintendo is distributing could very easily not be a Capcom game at all. That said, Megaman Taisen is overdue and could benefit from a Switch first launch with advertising from Nintendo (similar to GnG Resurrection). One thing I thought was curious at Capcom's summer showcase was that Megaman X DiVE Offline wasn't announced for Switch when dataminers had found references. I'm curious if they didn't want a more premium price product to have to compete with that.
