We did but the addicts have started going through withdrawal so the Fami administration wants to quarantine all those people in one place before they start shambling through the streets and breaking down walls while screaming "Direct"
Why don't I use this word more??

With Mario Wonder and Super Mario RPG coming I don’t see Nintendo revealing a new DK or Paper Mario remake here. Those I see being saved for next year or later.

F-Zero GX is interesting because I thought we’d see it in September, but Jeff heard about Metroid Prime 2 Echoes coming soon so that would be the GameCube remaster announced in this direct most likely. F-Zero might have to wait another direct. We have a logjam of GameCube remasters that need to be announced lol.

Actual predictions:

-Tears of the Kingdom DLC. Holiday. Launching the same day as the Zelda and Ganondorf Amiibos
-Free Pikmin 4 DLC (Like more Dandori battle maps or something)
-Splatoon 3 DLC trailer and release date announced (Maybe shadow drop?)
-Princess Peach game title and release date announced (Spring 2024)
-Luigi's Mansion 2 released date (early 2024)
-Quick trailer for Detective Pikachu
-Mario Wonder trailer and overview
-Mario RPG trailer and overview
-Metroid Prime 2 and 3 HD (Digital out now)
-Mario Kart 8 Booster Course Pack...it getting even more tracks!
-Another classic RPG is getting a surprise remake or HD remaster

Beyond this stuff, my other predictions are iffy. But my last guesses are:

-A cult Nintendo franchise will be getting a new game
-No Metroid Prime 4
-Arms is getting a spinoff game (like a 2D beat'em up)
-Something new from Square Enix

Fun fact: Nintendo has done a Direct on September 13th three separate times in the Switch Era. 2017, 2018, and 2022. This is even more notable when all of the other September Directs do not share a date, airing on the 4th, 17th, and 23rd respectively.

OK, so consider

February direct - 1 Gamecube remaster shadowdropped

June direct - 2 gamecube remasters shadowdropped

So obviously the logical conclusion is September will have 3 gamecube remasters shadowdropped, and so on. The gamecube logjam will soon turn into a gamecube singularity where Nintendo is remastering Gamecube titles that don't even exist.

Let's Get it Fami

As for the question: Looking forward to more of Mario Wonder and hopefully anything of Side Order!

One of my favorite quotes from Tropic Thunder, and it pops into my head every time we get a new Direcc Specc thread:

@1:03 if the timestamp doesn't work

We used to have Directs every other month during the 2011-2014 golden age :)
The amount of games they had against the amount of directs they had really highlights how protracted and repetitive those early directs were.

It's not like they were all bad but fuck could they drag things out.

I think it was only a golden age for Iwata-era weirdness that has sadly substantially reduced

thanks for stealing the funny number post

I still believe MP4 will only be shown when they reveal the new console. But i dont discard the possibility that it may appear in september ,yeah.

Tho if MP2 is being shown there i fully believe they wont be showing mp4. Neither on this direct or the other. A january direct would reveal Prime 3, instead.

We have to get a small tease at least it's been too long we need something to hold us over it can be something small with a message at the end "more to be revealed early 2024"

If I had to bet, Nintendo will want to showcase the best looking version of the game first. So not before the Switch 2 is revealed.

I have a bold prediction: there won't be any new first party announcements.

Like maybe a port or remaster or two and of course one of their now-famous patented GameCube Shadow Drops, but nothing new. This could well be the last Direct before the new hardware is announced - if it's announced early next FY then they could easily skip the February Direct

Wild that this might be the last direct before next gen (next year will have extremely fun Direct speculation threads). June was a surprisingly great direct, and I'd honestly be happy just getting a lot of cool deep dives into already announced titles. September has always been my least hyped of the 3 yearly directs, but still very much looking forward to it

We sort of had that September 2019. The only "new" first party announcement was Xenoblade Chronicles: Definitive Edition.

Oh how naive we were at the time....

Crazy to think that we haven’t had a single Direct since then

One of my favorite Direct surprises of the Switch era, right up there with Dread.

didn't people at first think it was a totk trailer because of the ambient music at the start? lol

I'm actually thinking the same. Luigi's Mansion Dark Moon and the Princess Peach game will get dated for February 2024 and Spring 2024 respectively. Metroid Prime 2: Echoes Remastered gets shadowdropped. That's it for first party game announcements.

I thought they would have Wonder playable at Gamescom but they'd have to have a new trailer out before I guess, which doesn't look that likely. Actually it's weird, with a hole in their release schedule in September what new game could they have at Gamescom if not their holiday schedule?

Finallyyyy Direct speculation is baaaack!!!

I hope it's the earliest possible date, I can't get it soon enough.

Another mind blowing trailer for Wonder;
Full reveal of Princess Peach will star as the main character in a brand new game in 2024;
Metroid Prime 4 re-revealed and dated with a H1 2024 date

PLEASE I'M NOT EVEN ASKING FOR NEW ANNOUNCEMENTS NINTENDO.

Yeah that's where it could easily release before a September Direct as the next season would start on September 1st.
If it is, we're gonna start hearing about it soon, since the next season begins August 31st.
If the new season launches on the 31st, Side Order probably won't be coming along with it. Nintendo already has major DLC releasing the day before in the Rayman expansion for Mario + Rabbids. I doubt they would schedule DLC right on top of each other like that.

Side Order could very well release before the direct even airs. Nintendo hasn’t been gun shy about DLC this year.

Besides Peach game (which might not even show up), I’m not really sure what they could announce for 2024 besides Prime 4. Maybe DK?

First round of predictions:

-Metroid Prime 4 gets a 2024 teaser
-F-Zero GX HD announced Dec 2023
-Metroid Prime 2 shadow drop
-Fire Emblem: Geneology announced- Jan 2024
-Splatoon 3 DLC
-TOTK DLC

Since Luigi's Mansion 2 is probably a Spring release, I think there's a good chance for a Luigi's Mansion 1 shadowdrop. It would be perfect timing to release the physical version right around Halloween.

I really hope they keep going with this "shadowdrop Gamecube games and release them physically" trend.

I'm pretty sure they want to make Side Order a big deal(tho that's bold to assume seeing how they handled reveal to release cycles of FE and Xenoblade DLC). I don't see it just being shadowdropped or announced to be coming the next week or so with it barely having a trailer that shows anything. Tbh I think it'll slip to early 2024.

I also don't see a way for Nintendo to not announce anything for early 2024. So far they have nothing, unless both LM2 and Peach are H1 2024 which seems unlikely imo.

They've got Fire Emblem 4 Remake to announce at the very least...
Hopefully MP4 to re-reveal(Bayo 3 was re-revealed in the September Direct of the prior year to its release).

And of course there's gonna be at least one game announced for early or mid 2024 that will make everyone go "why the hell not hold it until the Succ comes?" but will end up being a success.

Edit: there's Tears of the Kingdom DLC too that I was forgetting... That one, if comes, will surely be treated as a major release of equivalent to a new game release, maybe even get a standalone release like Torna(but I know it'll feel weird after the whole pricing thing).
