StarTopic Future Nintendo Hardware & Technology Speculation & Discussion |ST| (Read the staff posts before commenting!)

...what an odd accusation. I did, really. I just chose to quote a small part of that I felt was relevant.
No, because we're all aware future, remotely ambitious first party won't be reaching the Switch. Miyamoto (basically Nintendo) said it, they're focusing on new experiences not possible on current hardware.

Very relevant, this tends to happen in the FY just before launch.

Not saying you’re wrong, but isn’t that chart lower down just showing they’ve steadily been increasing R&D spend YoY?

Hard to infer anything other than the cost to make games is rising, and Nintendo is heavily investing internally.

apparently it sold really well.
inb4 switch lite oled is real and comes out after drake
2DS +Pokemon (and AC) basically saved the 3DS line in Europe, but the price cuts were quite extreme the console was sold at like 99€+game bundled so basically for ‘only’ 50-60€

Light correction, Nintendo doesn't actually run their devkits at higher clocks by default, it's something application devs can explicitly opt into if they wish (on NX it's enabled by calling nn::oe::SetCpuOverclockEnabled(bool), which sets a 1785MHz overclock. The 1224MHz profiles are unused.)
So if real those would likely be the normal operating wattages.
Hey, just wanted to say welcome to the site.

Announcement and production could probably hold till January if we are talking late 1st half. Tight scheduling, but doable for like a May launch of you want to avoid counter marketing in the holiday season.

That said, the earlier you make the announcement the earlier people start saving money for it, vs spending money on competing ecosystems.

I really believe software sales will be what buffers the holiday until release if it’s announced this year

Tears of the Kingdom was problaby very expensive for Nintendo to make, and i assume Metroid Prime 4 will too, given all the developers Retro Studios has been hiring for the game
