Buddy, if someone mentioned information inside [ hide ] tags, you're meant to keep it inside those tags going forward. You can hide a whole message by adding [hide ] without spaces at the start of it.

(That said, you're absolutely right, though I think the Sharp LCD displays are probably for Sony Project Q.)

Wouldn't this appear for all developers with a Nintendo Dev account? So it should be fairly easy to corroborate?
No. You don‘t even get access to Switch automatically when you get approved for this developer portal. You need to fill out an Access Formular which gets looked at manually. If this is real (I doubt) then it is someone who has access to the Switch 2 Dev Kit.

Edit: Just to be clear, this is public knowledge. Also I know that Nintendo is very intransparent with the process. While some developers can wait for ages to get access others get it immediately. It helps to know people at Nintendo or to get in touch with them at events apparently.

Reminder on the current Switch 2 leak situation

Team 2024 Arguments

  • Fake/Photoshop/Inspect Element on every piece of leak we share (??)
  • Nate said late 2024
  • Last Direct announced Mario 2D for holiday (Lol)
  • Switch is still doing good and will be supported for 15 years (false)
  • No real leaks ( ??? )
  • Nintendo said no new hardware this FY (False, they said no new hardware included in this FY Switch 15m sales forecast)
  • Needs a new Mario 3D on launch (??? never happened except DS and N64)
  • NX2 is not the code name (False, it has been the code name according to @oldpuck)

Team 2023 Arguments:

  • Nintendo officially talked about the next gen in their shareholders meetings
  • Dev Kit in Spain for a 2025 Metroid Dread sequel game devs on the NG (also with other developpers but more quiet)
  • Pokemon DLC leak indicating Winter 2023 new Switch release
  • Nvidia new chip taped 18 months ago
  • NX 2 section possibly added to the private Developer Portal
  • Jeff Grubb announced an event in July
  • 40th anniversary famicom in July
  • Nintendo reveal new hardware every 2 years in July since Switch debut
  • Ubisoft CEO openly talked about the NG
  • Sharp announced launching a new line of LCD Screens in production in 2023 for a next gen console and quickly removed it from their slide
  • Switch 1 sales has been in a downward curb for several years

Anything else ?
Instead of framing the thread as a childish "team 2024 vs team 2023" maybe you can take a step back and realize that all most of us care about is getting reliable information, whatever that information might say.

Damn, the condescension coming out of every corner of this thread is out of control (yes, including from me in this very post. I'm not stupid). It's making the whole experience less pleasant. This is supposed to be a distraction from my real problems, and it's starting to bum me out.

I believe I read somewhere the PS2 reached those impressive numbers mostly due to its DVD player.
After the PS3 was out, it kept selling like hot cakes, specially in South America and peripheral markets.
After its price cuts, it was cheaper than most DVD players on the market.
People barely bought any games though.
It might be interesting to have more data to chart this over time, but PS2 ended with a software tie ratio of about 9.9, so I don't put TOO much stock into many people using it without games in mind. That's higher than PS1 (9.4) and every Nintendo system (9.6 or less), though lower than the 11.4 PS3 hit.

Who's this?
nwplayer123 is a dataminer. anytime you see whatever swear words nintendo bans it's likely them that combed through the files to figure it out. they have a huge history of this stuff. actually respectable

Yeah, it's gonna get reaaallll annoying if/when July passes with narry a hint of the Redrakted NG.

So Grubb is hearing something from Nintendo in July…

Switch Lite was announced July 10, 2019.
Switch OLED was announced July 6, 2021. ~2 years later.
Switch 2 [fill in the blank]…

🙂

edit: those were the wednesday and tuesday of July’s second week. ergo, Switch 2 announcement will be July 11-12. 😉
We’re getting mighty close to these dates too 😁

Don’t you think everyone here would be happy if the system released in 2023 lol? We all love new Nintendo systems and the sooner we get it the better. I love seeing new console presentations and next gen games. It’s not like most people want it to come in 2024

Apparently NX 2 shows as an option on Nintendo Developer Portal

👀 is this Nintendo dev portal an internal site only, or like third parties can access and Nintendo had a slip up or something?

When did Grubb saying "idk there might be something in July but who knows" turn into Grubb announcing an event in July lol
Right after we agreed he didn't really know anything because he was so unsure. Then Nate did say something about this month but speculated it was Pikmin 4 related haha. I don't know. Grubb hasn't said anything about an event since before the direct. Really just seems like something unsubstantiated but worth keeping in the back of the head.

The PS2 was very successful. It killed Sega's hardware department.

I can't find a source. I just read that after PS3 launched, the PS2 kept selling very well, with hardware selling a lot better than software.
Since I had quite a few friends who bought it specifically for the DVD player, it rang a bell.

Maybe the software tie ratio would have been a lot higher if the PS2 wasn't the cheapest DVD on the market.

Supposedly it was on 4chan before being posted here. It would be nice if the person who shared it here also shared where they saw it (assuming it was a public forum like 4chan)
@P4bl0 says they saw it on Twitter and then it got deleted supposedly, but I don‘t know honestly, it sounds strange.

Huh ? Nikki just said expect an announcement of the NG before September, this is huge
Nikki is a dataminer. She is good at finding info in codes, but that's about it.

She should know as much as Nate or anyone with insider connections about this.

Oh ok I thought there was a new leak/rumor
There is one currently but with no context & of dubious veracity. Some whispers that could mean something but we’ll just have to wait in due time.

Well, no, they didn’t say expect an announcement before September. They said expect it “sooner rather then later” & “might happen earlier.” They also “assumed” September which was their own speculation. These are all important distinctions when talking about rumours. Otherwise we are engaging in telephone & put undue pressure upon the person who share said information leading to attacking or other nastiness.

Switch has sold 125 million units, basically 20 million units per year. However, for a console entering it's seventh year on the market, what is the drop off per year? You don not really have a 125 million install base if half the users from 2017-2021 no longer play on Switch because they feel it's antiquated. This could be an example of next gen hardware being ready to release before software, and unlike in the past, it may be just fine.

Nikki leaked this one month before Switch 1 reveal, she is more legit than anyone

Read the article. She figured something was happening because she noticed updates in dev tools. That's what I mean by "finding things in code".

Datamining is called datamining for a reason.

Right now, she's hearing "whispers", much like how Grubb was. She has nothing actually concrete right now.
