did any of the insiders ever say if we'd get an announcement of a direct before the show, or just say a direct was happening this week? like, could one just be shadow dropped
All they know is, it's happening and not the nature of the Direct, so it very well could be shadow dropped.

I've seen a post of Nate quoted, here or on ERA, where he said announcement would be today, but i don't know when this was said.

That really sounds like a fever dream. i mean, did you see the sales and earnings of those companies? "crash" my ass.
And its not even a niche interest like back in the 80ties, its a core pillar of our culture (just look at fortnite....)
What could be is that some companies realize that they have misscalculated and that THEY are seeking for help, but for shure not the industry.

And a switch home...i really dont see it. Or lets say it this way:
if, then only as an aditional cheaper SKU to a normal release. Like: Switch Pro for 450€ and switch home for 300€.
Since we asume that the PRO will increase in price and they maybe thought: for the original switch it did not make sense to have a marginally cheaper sku, but here the gap gets big enough.

Mind you, i still dont belive it. if anything, they will market the normal switch as the "Entry" model.

Exactly.
Just to entertain that crazy post a bit while longer. Perhaps companies like Square Enix, Ubisoft, Take 2, etc are scared shitless that they've gone all in big time on ps5/xs exclusives, and thus far the software sales aren't making the return on investment needed to justify that action. If you've invested in several "most expensive projects ever need to sell 5 million+ to break even" for cutting edge hardware, and the market is telling you "we're good with gaas, subscriptions, and waiting for games on sale" you probably do feel a crash is coming. Not an industry wide crash, but a repeat of what we saw in the 00's when gaming went HD and we had tons of studios close.

Nate said announcement on monday on twitter, but that could've just been him assuming it won't be a mini---> will be anounced a day before airing. Since he's said tuesday consistently I believe

Well, ask Nate and Emily, Grubb, etc. or the people affialted with a Nintendo on this site.

It isn’t a fever dream. Of course take with a grain of salt.

All I am saying is…some games are only playable at HOME.

Which really isn’t that big of a deal. It is better than not getting the games at all.

Again, I’m not an insider or looking for clout. Talk to the “personalities” in here you trust. Some of them DO have the information.

*i actually won’t even be keeping the account *.

I don’t know about individual titles outside a small handful.

I do not even know if the Direct tomorrow is real. I just sit and read the info you all provided and am entertained at times, concerned at other times.

Have REALISTIC expectations going forward. No one reinvents the wheel anymore. Steve jobs is dead. Everything is iterative now.

As for the the important sections. That was the real point of the post.

Nate said the announcement was happening today, but that may have been him just assuming.

Lmao yeah seemed like a weird post about "video games are crashing" the same morning Splatoon set an opening weekend record in Japan. I'm not a business major or anything but seemed like whiplash.

So I am going to cross post this here. For everyone to see. Obviously take with a grain of salt.

I disappeared from Twitter, after becoming concerned over some DM's.

Check with Nate, Emily and the other posters in here. (Some of which work at Nintendo and a couple of gaming companies). I am not going to "out" people on here. But, Emily and Nate could comment on it.

***************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************
Several items to speak of, in different areas.

Source 1

1st) Snitch I was told is getting his information mostly from getting access to Youtube videos prior to them being upload for public view. I know this is a working theory on these boards, apparently it is also the theory of some employees of the gaming companies. As well as Famiboards, Resetera, Reddit, and GAF.

2nd) The completed games Nintendo is allegedly "stockpiling" is not as many as people think. According to a developer. Big 1st party teams are mostly hard at work on Drake. Some games for Drake, some for Switch.

3rd) Drake = HOME. H-O-M-E with a twist. Similar to Vita & PS3. Some form of reveal this Fall. Maybe a YouTube trailer like Switch?

4th) I don't know what games are in the Direct. I do not have access to that information. Very curious about Goldeneye remaster, seems to be a lot of confusion here on what is included and if cross play, gameplay changes, etc.

I have heard more MS games are coming, don't think it is Gamepass related.. Not sure if Drake or Switch.

NOW THE MOST IMPORTANT INFORMATION:

Source 2

1st) I have heard another gaming industry stopping merger will be announced by years end. This announcement will give investors and consumers insight that gaming isn't being absorbed because some companies are in an "arms race". In actuality, the "gaming industry is crashing".
Developers and industry people are looking for "life boats" and trying to get as much money as possible.
Everyone realizes the industry is in great upheaval. This will be THE TALKING POINT of the Fall/Winter for gaming. Much like Activision/MS was.

Gaming is not going away. Business models need to change. Expect $75-$100 AAA games if microtransactions go away. More evergreen games, less annualized titles. Based on the conversation I had.

2nd) The spotaneous Direct model is dying. Some 3rd parties are coordinating to announce games every 3 months to correspond with financial reporting requirements.

This will give investors, financial reporting and consumers an idea of when to expect information while still being able to be surprised with the actual content.

Some of these announcements will be able to be timed closely to current gaming events. TGS for example.
Assuming this is accurate, you should expect Nintendo Directs, Sony State of Play and Xbox events to pivot towards this model.

No more wild speculation on when it could be. You will have a window when companies will speak to developers, investors, consumers. Even if, we don't know what the announcements are. You will have an idea of information windows better than we do now.

🤨🤨🤨

Willing to give anything the benefit of the doubt, especially with Nintendo. But you lost me at "gaming industry crashing". We're talking about the industry that makes more than Hollywood these days, right? The industry that just a few years ago had their most profitable year ever because of the pandemic? If anything is crashing it's probably singular companies that haven't read "Capitalism for Dummies" & therefore ran their company into the ground in an environment that is mostly highly profitable (which would be an achievement).

I know there is inflation, supply shortages etc etc, but none of that strikes me as industry destroying. In fact, before the gaming industry crashes from the current overall economic situation, quite a few different industries are first.

In light of that whole string of information being totally unbelievable to me, I have to call in question everything else you mentioned. No offense though. I'll eat my words if I have to, but right now I severely doubt I will.

Is this performance art? Big fan.

Whatever happens today, be it good or doom, it’s been a fun ride speculating and shitposting in anticipation for the next Direct. Here’s hoping we get some good news!

Nintendo by virtue of doing their own thing would obviously be exempted from any "industry crash".

I'm not sure about those posts but people have been expecting a major AAA industry crash for some time now, it would not at all be surprising to see one happen mainly amongst the bigger AAA pubs.

Ok I stand corrected, this is even weirder than your previous post

I'll entertain the idea that your posts are real for a moment. You have to understand why this line would likely get a lot of people to laugh and write you off as a troll. For someone posting "what they know to temper expectations", you sound desperate for people to believe you.
