Still hoping for Mario Party Superstars DLC. Give us Western Land, Mario', Rainbow Castle, Waluigi Island or Chilly Waters! Also add Pauline! I was sooooo sure she would be playable!
I wish this could be real but I feel like this ship has sailed... then again Nintendo follows no rules.

Nintendo waited how long to give Super Mario Party true online multiplayer and MK8D the booster pass? Never say never until the next Mario Party is officially announced.

Third party stuff I want to see (either tomorrow or at TGS), but definitely won't:
  • Konami announcing a new Castlevania
  • Koei Tecmo announcing a new Ninja Gaiden
  • Bandai Namco announcing a new Ridge Racer
But I will get nothing.

I think all the boxes have been ticked regarding rumours pre direct. Maybe we should panic that it’s only gonna be a partner one more time for good luck? 😁

They CAN’T show WW/TP without talking about BotW2. That’s impossible. Another “we are working on it” won’t be accepted by anyone.
That's right. There has to be BotW2 if the show off the remasters. And if they show BotW2, this time it'll be a deep dive video rather than another short showcase.

That's why I believe there's gonna be a separate LoZ Direct coming later this year. A Direct might not be enough for what we have for LoZ.

No matter what happens Metroid Prime is going to be there. Everyone said the game was coming in 2022 and we have three months left in the year. Either it’s in the direct or it was cancelled, lol.

We need to know what is the future of Switch. Imagine someone who buys the cool new Pokémon OLED Switch this holiday, beats S/V, Mario Kart, and a few more games. Then what? Is there only one Nintendo game left for that console (BotW 2)? May be two if Prime 4 ends up being a thing?
Who is going to buy a Switch at full price knowing there are only 2 games left for its catalog?

I think it's urgent to know at least a couple more big Nintendo games planned for the next two years, or just show Drake and tell people what we should expect for the future.
I don't get it. If someone buys a Nintendo Switch this holiday, they get to dig into one of the best game libraries ever.
Nobody who is buying a console in its twilight years is buying it for new games.

I guess we're getting a mini port direct with zelda ports at the start and metroid prime at the end.
Good luck famiboard

So now there’s the talk of a mini? Of course…they ALWAYS do this! Well, if that’s the case then Jeff Grubb is screwed (unless they put those in).

We know they have a lot of games in the works, if it is a Mini it is because they don't want to show them because the Drake needs to be revealed first.
Yep. You don’t keep doing partner directs and mini directs while having tons of games stockpiled if Drake wasn’t coming soon. This would be a clear sign that it’s related to Drake. They’ve done General Directs in September every year, except Covid, since Switch released.

There’s always the chance they pull a MK8D booster course pass and announce it in like 6 years.

I wish Grubb could have said something on a new FE but I get why with Zelda. And Wind Waker (alongside HD) is my all time favorite game so having that on the Switch would still be the best announcement for me regardless haha.

I think they have way too much stuff to announce to have it on a Mini; just the fact it's NSO update season, makes it quite unlikely it will be a Mini imo

The fact is that Grubb said that the two remasters will be there.
Honestly this alone is the proof that it will be a general

If it’s a mini, they won’t be there. It’s either all Zeldas (BotW2, TP and WW) or none of them imho

Not having a general in E3 really messed up people's expectations right? Nintendo did the right move!

I agree. So it’s a win-win-situation. Either we get a full General, which would be awesome, or we get a Mini, which almost certainly means they’re keeping stuff for the Drake reveal early next year, which would also be awesome. This is gonna be good news either way.

I know what Emily said, but I'm gonna say it makes sense for a full Direct to be earlier in the day, considering TGS starts on Thursday Japan time and third party partners need time to prepare their pre-TGS marketing for the Direct announcements. If it was the normal Direct structure (announce on Monday, show at 2PM Pacific on Wednesday), that'd put the Direct only 4 hours before TGS starts (which is just nuts for the companies that have to go to TGS)

And minis in the past have had great announcements anyway.

Nintendo is in its unpredictable era and I feel like we could literally see anything this week.

They have the strut of a company that just released the strongest Japanese game release ever.

Why are people assuming anything but a full direct at this point? It's been so long.
Because Emily said Direct will be in the morning for the US which never happened during Switch era for a general direct. Also it is quite unusual for a general direct to get announced and to be aired so early in the week. Maybe it is because of TGS, but it could also mean that the format is different, which is often the outcome, when Nintendo is breaking their "patterns". We‘ll see it in 2.5-3.5 hours what it is. If there is no announcement today, it will likely be a mini.

In a year Splatoon 3 and Pokemon Gen 9 are coming out? Yeah, people are buying Switch units second half of 2022 for new games.

So now yall think it’s a mini? I knew having a general on tuesday was fishy.

I'm thinking one announcement to go along with WWHD+Twilight will be adding the BoTW DLC to the expansion pass. Tis the the season for NSO updates so makes double the sense

Can‘t speak for others, but personally I kept a open mind for any format (though I think partner showcase is unlikely), because this year they‘re quite unpredictable.

So I am going to cross post this here. For everyone to see. Obviously take with a grain of salt.

I disappeared from Twitter, after becoming concerned over some DM's.

Check with Nate, Emily and the other posters in here. (Some of which work at Nintendo and a couple of gaming companies). I am not going to "out" people on here. But, Emily and Nate could comment on it.

Several items to speak of, in different areas.

Source 1

1st) Snitch I was told is getting his information mostly from getting access to Youtube videos prior to them being upload for public view. I know this is a working theory on these boards, apparently it is also the theory of some employees of the gaming companies. As well as Famiboards, Resetera, Reddit, and GAF.

2nd) The completed games Nintendo is allegedly "stockpiling" is not as many as people think. According to a developer. Big 1st party teams are mostly hard at work on Drake. Some games for Drake, some for Switch.

3rd) Drake = HOME. H-O-M-E with a twist. Similar to Vita & PS3. Some form of reveal this Fall. Maybe a YouTube trailer like Switch?

4th) I don't know what games are in the Direct. I do not have access to that information. Very curious about Goldeneye remaster, seems to be a lot of confusion here on what is included and if cross play, gameplay changes, etc.

I have heard more MS games are coming, don't think it is Gamepass related.. Not sure if Drake or Switch.

NOW THE MOST IMPORTANT INFORMATION:

Source 2

1st) I have heard another gaming industry stopping merger will be announced by years end. This announcement will give investors and consumers insight that gaming isn't being absorbed because some companies are in an "arms race". In actuality, the "gaming industry is crashing".
Developers and industry people are looking for "life boats" and trying to get as much money as possible.
Everyone realizes the industry is in great upheaval. This will be THE TALKING POINT of the Fall/Winter for gaming. Much like Activision/MS was.

Gaming is not going away. Business models need to change. Expect $75-$100 AAA games if microtransactions go away. More evergreen games, less annualized titles. Based on the conversation I had.

2nd) The spotaneous Direct model is dying. Some 3rd parties are coordinating to announce games every 3 months to correspond with financial reporting requirements.

This will give investors, financial reporting and consumers an idea of when to expect information while still being able to be surprised with the actual content.

Some of these announcements will be able to be timed closely to current gaming events. TGS for example.
Assuming this is accurate, you should expect Nintendo Directs, Sony State of Play and Xbox events to pivot towards this model.

No more wild speculation on when it could be. You will have a window when companies will speak to developers, investors, consumers. Even if, we don't know what the announcements are. You will have an idea of information windows better than we do now.
