really respectful from the Royal Family to think of all the Nintendo fans that are eagerly awaiting a Direct.

It just seems so weird to me that Nintendo would see Disney continuing with their big D23 event, Ubisoft continuing with theirs (unless I missed a cancel?), and then still releasing and no doubt promoting Splatoon 3. But then would be like “if we show a direct 5 days after the Queens death that’s just too insensitive”

Obviously anything can happen but I wouldnt worry too much about a delay

It was after the news broke. And after the Grubb tweet.

Edit: Now that I actually look at the tweet in context, I'm not sure it was predicting a Monday announcement, but rather correcting someone asking "why are people saying the Direct will be on Monday" by clarifying that it was the announcement and not the Direct currently being speculated for Monday. Could be wrong though.

Oh really? I could have sworn his tweet had a timestamp of 11 am. I know we had news she was being watched by that point but not officially know she was dead by then.

It was just before 3 PM EDT while Grubb's tweet was just before 1 PM EDT. And the (final) news of her death was around 1:30 PM.

 
Catching up after a very long day:

If it were any other time of year I could MAYBE see them bump the Direct back a week so it’d be after the funeral. It’d still be weird IMO but I could see it. But with so much going on right now and TGS imminent I don’t think it’ll happen, there are too many moving parts and it’s too close.

Yeah. They definitely weren't making the call. The conversation was definitely happening, though. It was NOA preparing for when NCL was going to wake up. Still, they have not said anything about a delay to partners yet, so we'll see.

I love this place. All of us obsessing over Nintendo Directs together, so much so that we generate valuable pieces of information and topics that become discussed outside the site.

I can't see there being a delay. I know she's not a politician, but she is controversial and Nintendo likes to avoid touching controversial figures and inserting themselves into politics. I can see them ignoring it. Plus TGS. Just seems like canceling a video game event for an English monarch is kinda odd. Then again, Nintendo Japan is definition of odd.
