Is the playstation thing actually happening this week? I've heard very little about it, even rumors. Seems a bit quiet. Although I guess with Labor Day it'd probably be announced tomorrow if it is happening.
I hope so, I wanna see Spider-Man 2 lol

Thinking about keeping it in the circle that Rogan runs with, Michael Cera or Jay Baruchel would work.

Plus keeping it Canadian, I guess 😅

Ew. But points for Canada again.
I thought about those two, but I don't know. I think I might be coming around to Tom Holland since he's British like Diddy. It would be interesting if they can make a reference to Diddy's origin by giving him a British accent.

I still recall Zippo saying Paper Mario with partners (which was true in a monkey’s paw way lol) and NEW 2D Metroid 5 (pretty much no one else got that specific with it)

I do think he’s had sources.

Zippo was right about Sonic Origins. However I do think that 95% of his information is either second-hand, made up, or pure speculation. Give me Emily or Nate over Zippo any day. Oh, and the retired Captain Tsubasa...

Those mockups just make me wish I could make home menu shortcuts for NSO games. I liked Virtual Console and how it treated retro games as a member of your game library, it was cool having Zelda Oracle games right next to the 3DS Zelda titles on the homescreen.

So what games would the NSO game boy/ advance launch with ? This was a period of games I missed personally, could Not afford one as a kid.
List of best-selling Game Boy video games. Minus the third party games and probably Pokémons, most of that could easily enough be among a launch list. I'd bet a lot of firsts (on the platform) for various series. Super Mario Land, Kirby's Dreamland, Metroid II. Plus a few things less remembered or more generically named, like Alleyway and F1 Race.

Plus I'm sure Holland would appreciate a role where he could use his normal accent for once. 😅

Yeah, he actually was. And not just about Origins, but about the reason it took Sega so long to re-release S3K (which the community sorta assumed) and that they had found a way to overcome that issue (which they did, by using the beta music).

So he must have some connections.

No doubt, which makes it all the more sad that the legit stuff gets buried under all the other things. OK, maybe I've been a bit harsh, and maybe I should give him another chance...I dunno...

GBA expansion is what'll finally get me to get NSO. Especially if the two sole FE games and one of the GBA Pokemon titles are there for wave 1.

Not mine, but these mockups seem pretty close to what we'll probably get

I'd be surprised if Nintendo doubled-up like this on day one, or if they put the Advance Wars games on NSO just yet when the remake versions are sat and waiting for release. My guess would be they save some of the sequels/repeat franchises across both systems for later, high-profile releases to the service; so on GBA, we'd get one of the Golden Suns, one of the Metroids, one of the Fire Emblems on launch day, but not the other.

Considering I foldered the shit out of my vc games on wiiu and 3ds, I for one an glad my home menu isn't bombarded by dozens of vc games I would have bought (again).

To be open minded, perhaps Emily has heard some of the things Zippo has, but where as Emily is a professional and withholds until they're confident, Zippo gets overly eager and reports on everything they hear from their sources. This would create a weird dynamic where to the outside, it looks like Zippo is just making shit up all the time, but to an insider they know Zippo isn't making stuff up, they're just not doing due process to wait until they have more definitive evidence.

It still doesn't help Zippo's credibility all that much though, since if you're unable to filter between the things you've heard that ultimately go nowhere and the stuff that actually happens, I can't rely on your info. Of course if ultimately Zippo's most recent batch info is nails on accurate, then I'll believe that maybe they've changed their method of vetting info and give them a bit more runaway on their next rumor.
I mean, as someone who covers rumors and actual news, I have to have a filter that cuts something off at some point. I obviously trust Emily, but I wanted to explain from a reporters perspective why her throwing a smidge of weight behind him doesn't really help. I can only look at what the facts are and the fact is, Zippo's information ends up not happening a majority of the time, and thus for me - it makes him EXTREMELY unreliable and as such, not even worth talking about.

I use to cover a few things, but after awhile it really gave off a "throw everything at the wall" approach that so many "fake" leakers do.

He did RT some things, yes, last month.

But I'll say this - it's really suspicious both Samus Hunter and Sylux stopped tweeting on July 19th.

Something very strange about that.

I just want the option to make shortcuts.

I doubt GBA is coming to NSO this year. They can squeeze out another year of N64 and Genesis games, offering GB/GBC with Transfer Pak compatibility as a way to sweeten the pot. When they show Pokemon Red and Blue with the ability to battle, trade, and import your Pokemon into Pokemon Stadium that will be enough to get people to resubscribe.

GBA NSO announced September 2023.

Where is the newfound confidence in GBA coming from? Have there been new rumors? Last I heard, GB/GBC was expected (release unknown) but GBA was still a huge question mark
They were definitely testing GBA, but GB/GBC was the thing said to be finished and waiting release last year. I think the common theory is that GB/GBC would be for the base subscription, with GBA coming to the Expansion Pack.

I suspect it's also because for a lot of people, the GBA library is the more desirable one and so they want that soon, too.

Few months prior, It was leaked that GBA emulation was being tested. That's where people had the assumptions from. And with how the GBA library is one of the most highly demanded by many.

There are also four mystery games having maintenance tested soon, aren't there? Was there some speculation that was connected to NSO emulation?

Wouldn't there be a version of each system for Japan, and one for international release? It depends if Nintendo are going to do GB and GBC as separate 'apps'.

Right, I know they were testing it, but I don't think there's any indication that the release was planned for the same time. GB/C is just sitting, waiting

Yes, that's absolutely true. It's supposition/inference on the community's part. Personally, I'd love all of them at the same time; GB/GBC would be a solid addition (especially for Wario Land 3, finally), but the Advance library played on Switch is a very exciting thought.

I wonder what sort of presence Sparks of Hope will have in the direct given that the Ubisoft event is on Saturday. Might end up pretty limited, kinda like the presence it had at the E3 2021 direct.

Why are you so intent on wounding me? Now I'm disappointed that this will never be true.

Same, I love having all the games in the apps with their box art. My main complaint is that I wish they included the manuals too.
