Then i hope Nintendo crams them into November and December. I don't care if they're going to drown during the holiday onslaught and Pokemon ScarVio release.
I agree. Just cram them in. Plus that gives Nintendo their “we want Zelda to be an annual franchise” by having WWHD/TPHD coming this year.

Seems like I missed some fun in this thread last night.

There's only one GC remaster that matters to me.

And it's probably not happening cause the original team had some horrible people on it.

The slow smile I've had reading this thread and realizing my patience from waiting through years of NES/SNES/N64 nostalgia is being rewarded. Nintendo might finally start pandering to my age group's Gamecube nostalgia...

Heh. Heh. Heh.

Also, I know F-Zero has a super vocal fanbase for some reason, but I've never connected to it. I hope everyone will finally be pleased with F-Zero content!

However... if it comes down to racing IP, I would throw you F-Zero people under the bus so fast and prioritize a Kirby Air Ride port with online play lmao

If the Zelda ports release early next year with no BOTW2 delay, now that's too close to BOTW2, if those games are like January or February, BOTW2 is probably delayed until Summer or even Fall 2023 at least.
It depends, if they are January/February and Zelda releases In late May/June that isn't that bad, it's still Spring. Or they could be this year and Zelda still May/June. Plenty of time.

I don't know whether you were aware of this but it's actually not out of the realm of possibility.

I have hyped a Klonoa announcement for 3 different Directs before finally having my wish come true.

I'll do the same for Baten Kaitos.

I always find the discussion around what people like Grubb find "exciting" before any event to be pretty much useless. It's personal taste, I got crazy when ATLUS dropped SMT 3 and V in a Partner Mini, I doubt many insider felt like that was a megaton Direct. At the same time, a Direct with MP, TP and WW for me would have the same effect as watching paint dry for 30 minutes but I bet many insiders would call them "exciting".

I mean it wasn’t a megaton direct. It was a mini direct.

Exactly this. Quite surprised many youtubers found the June Direct to be boring, they didn't seem to be interested neither in new games like Harvestella or DQ Treasures or ports like Persona or Nier. Pretty sure Grubb's definition of exciting game doesn't include such announcements.

I don't want GameCube remasters at 60€. GameCube games are mostly fine as they are. I want GameCube on NSO.

Aso, I want to know if GB/C/A is coming to NSO please and thank you

I’m ready for the next adventure.

Trueeeeeeee

The last Direct Mini Partner Showcase was like my favorite Direct so far.

It had Persona ports confirmed and the frickin Mega Man Battle Network Legacy Collection. A combination that I'm sure only would get me excited.

This is all so subjective...

GCN games might be too big to do a NSO release like they do with NES/SNES and so on. If it's being added to NSO, i could see it being a "DL each game on its own" way.

Also, GB (at least OG and Color) are speculated to be one of the upcoming Direct announcements.

Then you consider something like F-Zero. Back in the GC days the idea it would be the last home console F-Zero for almost two decades was laughable. If Nintendo want a relatively risk free opportunity to revive the IP, it seems a no brainer.
It was only laughable because people's perception of the series' popularity was askew. The misinformation perpetuated by fans and Nagoshi didn't help though.

Finding it hard to catch up on all the speculation, thread is going so fast, can anyone point me to a round-up?

Nintendo going all in on GCN remasters for Switch. Not just TP / WW / Metroid and maybe F-Zero GX.

Eternal Darkness? Yeah that's one of a tiny number of Nintendo IP's I'd consider DEAD in full capital letters.

Feels a bit weird no-one has tried to do a spiritual sequel at least. It had some crazy good ideas that on modern software would be great to see

I want Resident Evil Revelations 3 and Dragon Quest III-HD2D
will I be excited by this Direct?

thanks.

(does Baten Kaitos fall into the third party umbrella?)

It's fine if they do this approach (it's how it is on Gamepass), it's also fine if they touch them up a little and put them on the eShop at reasonable prices -though I would hope they'd add them to the premium NSO tier-. I just don't really care that much for remasters and remakes at this point, especially with games from the PS2/GC era that are mostly fine with a few kinks that need to be ironed out.

Fingers crossed for GB. I preordered an Analogue Pocket but it won't arrive until 2023. I really want GB games!

They did try to do a spiritual successor and it failed to meet its goals

Get the Cowabunga Collection, there's 3 very fine GB games to play! ;D

Wow, I can't believe the next year of Switch releases has already leaked!

GC_Line.png

The sad part is that most of these are happening.
Shiiiit, the only one I never played of those ones is the only one that won't happen. (Odama)
I really want to play it.

The reason why I never bought it back then was because of the magazine ad that had the cover art of the game, it features a huge spider with a human face, it disgusted/scared me to death. I was 10 years old or so lol

I think some IPs are in better places than they were back in the GameCube days, I mean look at the reversal in fortune Fire Emblem has experienced since Path of Radiance was first released. A re-release of that on the Switch would sell significantly more due to how the IP is now much more recognisable, and being on a console with, what, 6 times the install base of the GC?

Then you consider something like F-Zero. Back in the GC days the idea it would be the last home console F-Zero for almost two decades was laughable. If Nintendo want a relatively risk free opportunity to revive the IP, it seems a no brainer.

The Switch is a software monster and I'm confident a lot of these remasters would break a million. It's only really the suuuuuper niche stuff that doesn't hit those numbers from a first party perspective these days.

Fire Emblem grew up thanks to big change to the formula, not because of a remaster.

I hope so

I'd be excited too

I KNOW!!!

Honestly, between getting back to work and moving from my apartment I've had trouble finding time for gaming (and finding a game that I'm actually in the mood for). I've barely played a couple of demos that I wanted to try out

The Cowabunga collection caught my eye because it has the 2nd TMNT game for the GameBoy, which is one of my first GB games ever (my uncle let me borrow his GB when I was like 3 or 4 and I remember that one, Super Mario Land, Kirby's DreamLand 2 and the awful, awful Mortal Kombat 2 port)

I'm not sure if just the nostalgia hit alone is worth spending the money, especially when I'm not a huge beat'em'up guy but... man. The feels.

This is gonna be one of those fan favourite remakes of Spongebob squarepants or shrek Super slame remake, isn't it?

they tried.
the issue is that "THEY" were the same guys

That’s not the point they’re making…the IP has grown significantly. The video game market has grown significantly. Games on Switch sell great.

It still doesn't make it a sure increase in sales for all titles. We have examples of WiiU ports underperforming.

Zelda ports early next year and BotW 2 being spring is too close. To me that’s not going to work. I have it either as Zelda ports this year and BotW 2 spring or Zelda ports early next year and BotW 2 is delayed.
TP/WW could easily take december spot, IMHO.

If Switch Pro is H1 2023 as Nate seems to imply, I can't personally envise a scenario in which Botw2 release date isn't connected with Pro debut.

Eh, I kinda disagree. Awakening wasn't that much of a departure from the Tellius Games. Honestly I think what happened to improve its popularity was a significantly increased exposure (the Smash Bros effect mostly), and the series actually having a moment in the spotlight, not being overshadowed by the likes of Zelda, Metroid etc. Sometimes it's as simple as right place, right time.

Re-releases of the two Ike games wouldn't do Three Houses numbers sure, but they'd sell waaaay better now than they did back in the day.

Where the FUCK is Kirby Air Ride?! >=(

I need City Trial on a modern Nintendo console…!!
My opinion on what the game Vanpool is remastering is either Chibi-Robo! (worked on the 3DS one with Skip, Love-De-Lic legacy) or Kirby Air Ride (worked on Kirby spin off for quite a while, surprisingly haven't work on Dream Buffet)

Still think it's Chibi Robo, but Air Ride is likely too imo

Think of the Air Ride synergy with Sakurai's new youtube channel Nintendo!

Right. This direct could tell us a lot for Drake and BotW 2.
if this Direct confirms (and shows) Botw2 for Spring 2023, and reveal this upcoming New FE, It will be a big success to me. 2022 has been amazing so far, and fall/holiday season is stacked. I just need a couple of reassurence for 2023, then it'll be more than enough time to unveil 2023 plans early next year.

Am I the only one wanting Pikmin 1+2 with Pikmin 3's engine?

Or Pikmin 4..
Or heck just a Pikmin 3 DLC...
