StarTopic Xenoblade 3 |ST| Σ Become One

I've been enjoying more and more of the side content, though I'm about to move forward with the story not to become overleveled. But I've got to say I'm enjoying this world so much, it has the most world building of the entire series with the way the side content is laid out. Just finished up Taion's Ascension Quest and even though it's not nearly as big, that Lost Colony is just as beautiful as Uraya was.

Edit: I also loved how they arranged the music there, and I wish some of the other colonies had gotten the same treatment.

So now having met them, is Ghondor the most bogan character in video game history? I’m struggling to think of a contender.

I just realized…
At first, I thought he was pretty closely following the arc of Jin from XB2. A noble person who falls into despair from losing a loved one, ultimately becoming the opposite of once he stood for. But that’s not quite right. N was essentially gaslit by a manipulative greater evil to save the one he loves, and in the process becomes said greater evil’s servant. Jin meanwhile was manipulated by no one, but rather tormented by his internal angst and attachment, and, with Lora’s assent, becomes a Flesh Eater. He then meets Malos again, but together they form a partnership of mutual respect and aligned goals. Jin’s fate is obviously a result of Amalthus and his actions as the Greater Scope villain, but in fact he remains in direct opposition to him the whole story.

So N isn’t Jin. But he is extremely reminiscent of another famous fallen hero. N is, almost beat for beat, Anakin Skywalker. Z acts as his Emperor Palpatine, and M his Padme. He even performs a massacre directly after succumbing to the main villain’s temptation in exchange for the power to save his loved one, and to the horror of said loved one, as it represents a complete betrayal of their original ideals.

I'm on Chapter 6 now.

I've been holding off on finishing the game by doing some quests here and there, but I also find myself just randomly stumbling across spoilers on the internet, even when I just want to read about game mechanics or the previous games' story.

Is it fine if I just go through with the main campaign, is there a meaty postgame and do I still get to finish all of the quests that I haven't done yet? That way at least I don't have to be cautious about spoilers.

Just beat the main campaign, you can do everything in the postgame.

You know what? I think I'll do the same. I'm at the snow area and after doing some more sidequests and battling EMs and UMs I'm at lvl 60...Think I'll just finish the game this week. Especially with the Splatoon 3 splatfest demo this weekend too.

Just finished the game. All I can say was that the ending message was beautiful, truly heartfelt. Job well done Monolithsoft for the conclusion of the trilogy 👏👏👏👏👏

Now to finish off the uniques list and grinding for level 20 classes.

Chapter 7

entered Origin. I always like the way that the final levels of Xenoblade Games are very different from the rest of the beautiful worlds. Cool music as well and the scene towards Origin felt almost like a Star Wars scene.

Started chapter 5.

I'm starting to see some plot twists coming, but I'm hyped about how they deliver...

I've never beem so happy on doing side quests (except the ones that need enemies drops) Why do I need to Kill Agnus robots? WHY...

Quick question about the Soulhacker class: what are the requirements to get arts/abilities from unique monsters?
The first few ones I fought I obtained them, but yesterday I fought a new unique monster (for the first time), using the class on Noah, and I didn’t get anything despite the monster being listed.
Do you also need to have Triton in the team while fighting them?

Did you use Noah's talent art skill to end the fight? It won't give credit if you have Lucky 7 out when the fight ends

Oops… I did, indeed. I didn’t think they’d prevent you from obtaining them in this case but it makes sense.
I guess it’s the only exception? Juste to be sure :)

Yeah it's the only exception, pretty sure it's a bug though.

Here is a thought I just had

I realized... even the people in the City who got born the natural way have Irises right? I wasn't sure at first because people in the city who use one, it's never specified if they were born as a child or came from one of the cribs, but then I realized Monica and Ghondor have one and both were born naturally.

That sure is odd...

Unless it's a device that can just ger surgically implanted to anyone but that's not the vibe i am getting here. It does feel like it's part of them when they are born. Now it could be genetic hence it gets passed down when one bears a child, but that seems far too technological a thing to be genetic.

My simulation theory keeps getting more plausible...

Not that I want a reply to that. I will find out soon enough.

Another thing I realized doesn't add up... Riku and Manana were just as amazed by seeing the baby as the rest of the crew. They also raised their hands when the doctor asked about "the talk". But we never hear about Nopon being part of the resurrection cycle, or that they only have 10 years. I was always under the impression they are exempted from this system (hence they should know about babies etc cause otherwise how do they get born?). Then again we have never seen a baby Nopon in this world and the only elderly Nopon is the one engineer working in the City.

Idk i might have misunderstood that part but it never explicitly shows any Nopons in cribs or anything so it gets kinda confusing.

just reached Chapter 6. Currently about 30 levels higher than everything lol.
That end to Chapter 5 was really good. Kind of was expecting and hoping the thing that happened to happen in the way it which I really enjoyed.
I really want to rush through the story as there's other things I want to play as well...but every '?' or <!> that pops up makes me veer off the main story path to work on those...But its good since those end up adding a lot imo to the overall world

"You wot, it's night time already?" is almost as deeply satisfying as "Darkness envelops the world in its stygian embrace"

I found F to be one of the more memorable side-quest Consuls, if only because of how eerily polite he was to the party throughout all of his interactions with them, and also his twisted love for his Colony.

They went overboard with the cutsenes in a really bad way. There are TOO MANY interruptions to the gameplay, you almost spend more time watching dialogues than fighting and exploring. Every two steps there are a new cutscdne for whatever reason like Mio feelings towards Noah or Nopon cooking miscelania. The game would be so much better if they cut 80% of those and let you go five minutes without interrupting you...

What's worse, there are load screens between cutscenes. Last one was like five minutes with three loading screens between. Just horrible.

The way those dead characters came back to life, but also got to come back the same age that they were when they died, along with all their memories, was cheap and bent the "rules" of the world too far for the convenience of getting a new Hero for my liking.

I dislike when a game bends or breaks its own logic, especially for the sake of what is supposed to be a surprising or emotional moment. It just fell flat for me.
Yeah, I feel the same about that whole quest.

In general I have few good things to say about Chapters 6 and 7 in their totality. A complete nosedive from all that came before them.

Miyabi never died, hence why she still had her memories. The rest forgot their memories, although remnants were still left behind, just like with Eunie, when they were exposed to familiar places and people.

I think I'm a little confused about what Noah and Mio are. N and M becoming ouroboros, should've removed them from the cycle of rebirth, but Noah and Mio are like a miracle or did M do something to bring them about? I was hazy on that, either I missed it or it'll be explained later.
Even with all the questions I had last night, I never noticed this. And you're absolutely right. They should have been removed from the rebirth cycle, so like...???????

So I know the last Hero doesn't belong to a colony and instead requires a super long quest chain. Given the name of their class I know what event in the main story foreshadows them, but I don't know which quest starts the chain. Can someone give me a name?

You've gotta finish a bunch of Colony 4 quests and then do some city quests (specifically one about books I believe), you'll eventually stumble upon the last hero quest

The Drifting Soul Battle Remix is so sparking beautiful...just how can perfection be perfected further?

Okay so a thing I was doing was while I was playing through the game, I was popping in and posting thoughts as I had them but not actually reading the thread much, my idea being to go back through and read the thread once I was done.

Because of that, I completely missed all the conversations and requests regarding moving spoilery discussion to the spoiler thread. Sometimes on the exact same page my spoiler-tagged posts were hitting.

I did noooooot mean to come across as ignoring yall, I literally didn't see any of those posts until today. I didn't even know there was a spoiler thread. 😅 Sorrysorrysorry yall.

Yeah really disappointed leveling down isn't in the game (at least, until you beat it, from what I hear)

The amount and quality of the side content really makes you want to veer off the main path, but doing that makes you pretty overleveled fairly quickly. Which still wouldn't be that huge of a deal if overleveling also didn't hurt class progression like it apparently does.

Hey so not to, like, make other people do my homework for me buuuuut
I've seen a few things said about how many different easter eggs there are from XB1&2's worlds sprinkled all around Aionios, but for the life of me I had a hard time spotting anything beyond the Fallen Arm, the curly spire bits from Bionis' Leg (whatever you'd call those), Bionis' Head, and I think I saw Gormott's tail at one point and maybe one of Indol's wings? And obviously Uraya and the Mechonis Sword and Kamos Guidepost but we already know about those.

But I've seen it said that pretty much every Alrest titan is in XB3, and I'm sure there must be more references to XB1 than just the Mechonis Hand and the Bionis Head.

So uh.. since I'm a sucker for references and easter eggs, has anyone found or compiled a list of the locations and features from the past games that ended up in 3?

I found this good thread on reddit that shows some of the location comparisons:

a lot of the terrain is also made up of the titans (Gormott head making up the snow area, and you can see parts of the Bionis in the distance. I haven't seen a full list of comparisons but I'm sure one will pop up in a month or so.

There’s also scattered one off rooms. For example, I’m not sure when you can access this exactly, but you can climb up to familiar ruins on that big sand island and there’s also some cool stuff in Keves Castle like the Bionis and Mechonis mural and Melia’s room.

I have to think that N was at least partially inspired by Jin (creative wise, not narratively). Not just the backstory but they even look similar with the masks and anime sword techniques

xc2 could never tbh

I'm glad you like it! But ngl this is... one of my least favorite area themes in the game, lol. Maybe even the series. Something about it seems really sappy to me, like way too saccharine and hopeful. It does have a very simple, majestic pastoral vibe to it that fits the area, I suppose. It just isn't really my jam, so much.

I had taken a break for a while, but I’ve been back at in between posting on Fami (some fun discussions tonight!). I decided to press on with the level 87+ area even though I was regularly ten levels below enemies. I’ve ignored the unique monsters, but I’ve been hanging in there so I went to the second to last area and have been fine too. While I’m still working through that, it’s pretty cool to say my party can hang with all normal and elite monsters now even if they come in groups as some level 95s are hanging around here.

Have a question for the thread, what are your favorite jobs to play as? I’m bouncing around classes again and I think the martial artist is perhaps my favorite. With the right kit and team, you can regularly deal more than 30 thousand damage with a fusion art and the recharge for moves is so short! The blowback move is great fun and the evade attack makes combat more active as you can dodge big blows reliably. I feel so in control of fights with this job, it’s so cool.
Martial Artist is quite fun, but probably my favorite is Incursor. I love crit builds so much. I'm still waiting to see if late game you can combine the two, as they seem like they'd synergize very well.

I also love Rogue Exile for tanks, it's a blast. And, y'know, DUNBAN

I haven’t really played the tanks myself yet, but I’m glad to hear Rogue Exile is as cool as it looks.

Incursor isn’t quite my favorite, but the extra quick sword swing is very helpful.

+1 for this picture!

Look, I can't help it, I am a huge sucker for minor-key melancholy music. Give me that pathos, the haunting sadness, the subtle mystery, beautiful tragedy, all that! There's a reason that Ender Lilies was probably my favorite OST last year, lol.

Wow, the game can fuck right off with that last (I think?) hero outfit. Either be horny for everyone, or for no one. The game already lacks in fashion, and the last one kicks you down by providing the most boring military gear for men and weird ass suit for women.

This was touched on a few times in the cutscene gauntlet between chapter 5 and 6. It is said that they shouldn't exist. At one point it is explicitly asked of Noah why he "split" from N. M believes Noah and Mio are their repentance, a manifestation of the path they should have taken instead.

I haven't finished the game and barely understand that Origin thing, so I dunno if the above makes sense or if it's just magical anime nonsense.

No no, that's good. That thread has unmarked spoilers for everything. I was more asking the people who had beaten the game to stop having every discussion in this thread.

It's a problem inherit of separating discussion into the binary options of marked spoilers and unmarked spoilers. I picked up on more of chapter 5/6's story beats due to poorly marked spoilers in here (as in, the marks themselves gave things away) than I would've with the game's foreshadowing alone, but that thread wasn't the right place for those discussions either.

Also, I legit hadn't heard your favorite music again when I answered your question, but I thought of you when it played. I decided to just let you run into though (did you notice it in the next fight too?)

How do my other party members obtain the other character’s hero classes (not the main 6 characters, but their specific hero characters)? Like the progress is going slow and I must not be doing something right as I’m in post game lol

I think if the enemy is more than 5 levels lower than you, you will not make any progress in unlocking classes on other characters that don't have it. Also the more people that have that class, the quicker it unlocks. It is also slower to unlock for those that have a lower aptitude (for example a D rank will unlock much slower than an S rank).

Pretty much just focused on side quests today and all I have to say is…

Rejoice, potatoes!

when you enter Keves Castle to fight Crys, it turns out that you are in Alcamoth. There is a mural of the Bionos and Mechonis in from the staircase that has a water filled pool in front of it. If you've played Future Connected there's a cutscene between Shulk and Melia in that that they talk about Amelia's having an ominous prediction of the future in front of the very same mural.

We were robbed of Lanz wearing a plugsuit

So I am in Chapter 3 and revealing as much of the map as I can, done a bunch of hero quests and side quests. I am level 37 and the rec level for Chapter 3 quest is 17. I think I am over leveled. Was I not supposed to do these side quests or something this late? Did I grind too much?

Seems like I
skipped a traversal skill cause I have climb and run up sand which are listed as skill 1 and 3
It is kinda nice not being aggroed by every monster when I just want to clear the map and stuff.
I feel like I was always under leveled in Xeno 1 and 2 and now 3 makes it so easy to level, it's the opposite problem.

I even got the max amount of ether cylinders and only found like 2 ferronis's to use them on. Now I am avoiding ether channels cause I can't fit anymore.

Oh another question, what is gold for? Cause the items the shops sell are weak af compared to the ones I get from quests and monster drops.
