I basically got mocked for quoting Peer last week regarding a possible July General Direct so I won't be sharing anymore rumors or whatever I hear on these forums. I do hope we get something this month but I'm not holding my breath.

Don’t know why someone would mock you for sharing about Peer. He definitely hears things given how long he has been in the industry. Not everything someone says they hear is going to pan out.

Yup but I had people basically laughing at me. Felt it was kind of rude and shitty. I wasn't aware of Peer's previous Star Fox Gran Prix stuff which was so many years back and even then I don't feel should be held against this guy so many years later. Peer seemed like a decently cool person in the NVC podcast I watch on occasion so I figured I would share the news to get a little weekend hype going and well I was basically laughed at. Oh well.

Peer is one of IGN's founders and is inevitably very well connected. He doesn't 'leak' things often, but probably not because he doesn't know. When he does speak up about something likely happening I personally wouldn't ignore it.

That sucks :/ I used to listen back when Craig Harris started hosting to the end of Jose Otero’s run as host. Peer and also Brian Altano were always great guests.

A ton of people heard about Star Fox Grand Prix, pinning it on one person and holding a grudge over it is dumb. Never an excuse to be rude over inside info like this either.
 
Oh boy, this is getting interesting. Even if this mysterious week is actually empty, I'm starting to think that we're getting something this month anyway.
 
Yeah this week is very primed for a lot of stuff, and with Nintendo tweeting business as usual, I am now fully on board the hype train for this week. 2 trailers(MK and pokemon or bayo) at minimum and a FP presentation of some kind at best

For all we know, the "rumors" Peer heard could just be him reading rumors of a July direct in this thread lol.

It's basically Reb's point of how circular rumors work. For example
  • The board starts speculating about a July direct out of nothing
  • Peer sees the speculation on the board and casually mentions it in a stream
  • The board hears Peer's comments
All of a sudden, there's now "smoke" around the rumor even though nothing's changed.

I like Peer. I'm not going to hate on the guy for making a dumb mistake nearly a decade ago at this point. Honestly I don't even care. People make mistakes. Everyone does. Don't think their entire careers and credibility should be flushed down the toilet because of a dumb mistake on occasion. Honestly I feel really bad the date Nate gets something really wrong eventually and everyone goes all Children of the Corn on him. We are all only human and sometimes sources just don't not pan out or plans change. I doubt Peer has any interest or intent on misleading people.

Anyways there is plenty of great games to play right now, plenty coming this year and beyond and we will all get new stuff. We all just got to be a little more patient and respectful to one another. :)

This is a thing specific to me, but with my particular upbringing and hobbies, Shulk being a bumpkin mechanic/tinkerer who gets to become the hero through the power of the thing he's super nerdy over kinda spoke to me. 🤷‍♂️

Dude what? I always thought it was about the absolute ridiculousness of the costume design in 2. My mind is blown, and the lore is expanded.

I remember specifically pointing out his ridiculous ass window and how much I hated it when I first started the game, then I posted that picture... so yeah, that was definitely it.

But I do like the vibrant blue that goes with Pyra and Nia's red and yellow

And Rex's youthful and incessant optimism, which was his rebellion against the cynical world of adults (who were also wrestling with the futility of life in their own way) that surrounded him, really helped get me through a bad period of depression
 
The sexualization of Mythra and Pyra is even more frustrating than normal because their designs are actually so striking. Like I love the outfits and overall colors

I can only blame myself for largely leaving the thread after the OLED delisting shenanigans. And the @LukasManak22 heel turn, that was seriously out of left field lol.

Can I single-handedly turn the tide back to hype? Depends, we'll see what vibes I'm feeling tomorrow.

That's basically why I loved Rex as a protagonist, really. The entire scene towards the end where
he says he would just punch Malos and then take him drinking
spoke to me.

You could say... I like his attitude.

Based off datamining and the platform spread, I think we are getting 7’s Rainbow Road as the last track in Wave 3. Mario Kart Wii’s Rainbow Road, my fav, is probably the end of Wave 6.

Folks like Peer obviously know stuff, but they don't have access to exact marketing plans. So he might know what is coming up to an extent, but if that'll be revealed this month or the next he probably won't.
 
The fact that people like Nate and Peer have heard whispers but nothing definitive actually makes a lot of sense if it is a first-party thing. Most direct leaks we get have third-party developers as sources (nate has mentioned previously that these sources know they will be in a direct, but not what form the direct will take).

I'm not hugely confident anything will come this month, but I don't take the fact that we've not had a more explicit leak as a reason to think nothing is coming either.
 
Channeling huge Mario Kart 8 Booster Pass Wave 2 energy heading into this week. Other things possibly announced will inevitably come much later, but Mario Kart once announced will come relatively quickly and make a huge impact. I’m immediately so excited for new tracks and what the second round of datamining will reveal and how that will impact speculation going forward. While future waves could have a better selection of tracks, no other wave will be as exciting as this one for both fulfilling the immediate need for more tracks and the impact for how we will predict future waves. I’m feeling pretty good about this week too. It has to be this month if they are on track and the following two weeks seem unlikely as they would double up on Live A Live and Xenoblade.

I fear it was to much stink for them. If we are lucky, there are still a few animal-friendly people left at Nintendo and they gave it away to some ranch for unwanted smelly horses, but considering what animal right groups are saying about them we‘ve to expect the worst.
