3 weeks ago someone DMed me on Discord, saying that their friends who work at uni who have access to Nintendo press events and Microsoft Sources as well. They said that the new switch model will be 400-450, as well as saying that the back of the unit itself will be slightly modified for air cooling, and the dock will be the same. They believe that games like Hogwarts Legacy, Overwatch 2, and possibly Sonic Frontiers will be on it and that they will be patched. They also said that retailers had at the time, been informed to prepare for preorders. Not sure info is correct or not or if it is fake. We will see.

Retailers don't know the price until the second they announce it.

$450 is steep for a portable hardware no way they charge that much.

Honestly my limit for this device is $600CAD before tax.

I know I stand a poor chance of getting this device day one, but honestly if this even so much as tries to do $620CAD or more at launch, I am most certainly waiting for the long term reviews to see how well it holds up after extended use.

I don't want another fukken Joycon Drift bullshit to arise.

It's steep, but I can see them charging that much. It's 50 more than the cheapest Steam Deck, and when considering the leaked specs + 4k dlss + Oled I think they can get away with it.

Come on everyone, for a forum all about inclusiveness and kindness there is no shortage of users ready to dogpile that user and embarrass them on a couple different occasions recently without considering the person behind the screen and their potential age or any struggles that may be contributing to what is, at times, some odd posting behavior.

But read between the lines, give them the benefit of the doubt and don’t type, whatever comment you’ve got was probably already said upthread by someone else. Not everyone relates to others the same as you.

Hidden, sorry you got some crap! Thanks for posting. I don’t personally think I believe the person who DM’d you, partially because they said they “think” Sonic Frontiers is coming to this device, when we already know it is coming to the Switch platform. No guesswork needed there. I guess they by coming to Drake they could have meant a native version, but eh. But thank you for sharing!
 
Yeah it wouldn't shock me if it was just a licensing thing.
But it also wouldn't surprise me if it's an announcement. It's an interesting case where the current circumstances support both possibilities.
 
I love how the hardware stuff was starting to die down slightly, and then today the flood gates were burst open lmao
