Because that's what the PS4 Pro was called, so people started calling the Switch version that.

because the precedence for this kind of half-step hardware was set with the PS4 Pro and we need a shorthand name for it

I don't think anyone genuinely thinks that's what it's gonna be called.

I mean I wouldn't call it that, but tbh, I think the Switch is too big, while I think the size of the Switch Lite is fine (It's no GBA, but it feels more like a handheld).
I don't really care about Power that much, I just want good games. but if I haqve to think about an Upgrade form factor would be a big thing for me.

It can´t be a lite version because the whole point of the lite is to not be docked and doesnt have detachable joycons, i think you want an smaller switch with an oled screen
 
I've said it before and I'll say it again, I really want a OLED Lite. The current Lite is perfect in every way except the lack of HD rumble and the old screen. Fix both and it's the best handheld Nintendo has ever created.

Can't wait for the Pro. The original Switch has so much dust on it that I played more times with my Swiffer then with the Switch itself.
The Pro would delay my Swiffer time for at least 5-10 minutes.

The question is if it really is smoke of which we don't know much about the fire or if it is because we've let out a lot of flammable stuff over the web and it was our fire all along.

I think having the Switch Lite not be dockable was the dumbest thing ever.
If the point of a product that it can do less then it's shit.
Noone buys a Switch Lite and is like "Crikey, I've been waiting for this, I hated the ability to dock, but now that it's gone from this one I will buy it!"

The actual point is for it to be more portable and if they can give me that while still being able to dock, I don't care if they call it the Switch Lite or the Switch Corndog.

I don’t think anything we did caused Nintendo to private a video or mysteriously stop a Splatoon tournament for a week

The Splatoon tournament could have any number of reasons for the gap. There's no single bit of strong evidence.

There's just a lot of overlapping coincidences if there's no hardware. Like, more than I can ever remember. Occam's Razor is out the window. Hell, you can argue new hardware is Occam's Razor at this point.

The entire impetus of the Lite is two things:
-cheap
-handheld only users
They are not selling a Switch that cheap that does almost everything a normal Switch does.
I suspect the next Switch is going to be about the same size & will be about as portable as OLED is.
