Switch UHD will be the first non underpowered system since GC. Switch exclusives already look awesome, now just imagine what Nintendo and partners can do with 10x stronger hardware. 🤤

The entire impetus of the Lite is two things:
-cheap
-handheld only users
They are not selling a Switch that cheap that does almost everything a normal Switch does.
I suspect the next Switch is going to be about the same size & will be about as portable as this one is.
Mentioning the price makes much more sense than saying the point is that it does less.
I mean sure there is market for people who don't care about docking and for children cause the Lite is a bit less fragile and just a want an affordable handheld.

I'd still want a smaller Switch OLED.
Just make it a Switch lite with rumble that is dockable, give it more power if you want, but I don't care if it's the same price as a regular Switch.
I don't care for Joycons, but they still need to bundle some controller then, make it more expensive and put a Pro Controller in.

I'm going to bed now. If tomorrow nothing happens I will blame only myself and definitly not the people on this forum for getting hyped up.

I don't think it'll be tomorrow. Some people do, but I'd say don't get disappointed until we're at end of next week.
For real I still believe that we'll see it early next year together with the BOTW2 launch and that there well be nothing anounced this week or this year. But this thread is fun and I'll not be disappointed at anything that is only rumored to happen.

the concept of the switch pro coming out alongside zelda in spring unnerves me

it feels like trying to catch lightning in a bottle twice which rarely goes well

I think having the Switch Lite not be dockable was the dumbest thing ever.
If the point of a product that it can do less then it's shit.
Noone buys a Switch Lite and is like "Crikey, I've been waiting for this, I hated the ability to dock, but now that it's gone from this one I will buy it!"

The actual point is for it to be more portable and if they can give me that while still being able to dock, I don't care if they call it the Switch Lite or the Switch Corndog.
$200 Pokémon machines that don’t have parts that disconnect so kids can’t lose them!!!

please don't put too much stock into natedrake dunking on gamexplain

dunking on gamexplain should be done without discretion

If they reveal it this year it wouldn't be releasing next year so I don't think you need to worry about that.

How I feel about "Nintendo will just announce a 4K Switch out of the blue tomorrow":

they should just upload the switch reveal trailer in 4k60 and replace botw with its sequel, odyssey with a new mario game, splatoon 2 with 3, skyrim with the anniversary edition, and mario kart on dlc courses. Haha haha yeaahee

I have no idea what's going on but people seem somewhat excited, which is somewhat exciting.

BIG SALT INHALING:

Hmm, I dont know if hes speculating or not but IIRC many info does come from this User in regards to Nvidia GPUs and AMD ones...

Absolutely not. Nintendo isn't going from 4GB of RAM to 16GB just like that. And it's expensive LPDDR5 RAM at that lol. There are premium laptops launching with LPDDR4x still, and they cost a whole lot more.
I can't wait for the Switch model to be given an official name so people will finally stop saying "Switch Pro."

How did "Switch Pro" even start and why do people act like that's an official name?
I always thought Switch Plus was a cute name, they could do a thing where the H in "Switch" just grows a little thing to the side to look like a plus sign.

This thread is accelerating at a chaotic rate and I'm living for it

Still think next week is the move if anything, but damn what a ride

I'm very guilty of its use but I actually don't care for the name and think it's extraordinarily unlikely it's used

it's just a convenient shorthand, y'know? everybody gets what I mean when I say "Switch Pro"

Maybe it's just scepticism, or 2021 PTSD, but i still find it hard to believe that Nintendo will tweet "hey guys, here's a 4K Switch!", like, tomorrow or next week.
The lineup they had for this year is not the most suited to hype up a more powerful revision

They could announce new games alongside the Hardware reveal, but that's the part that's hard to believe

I was confident before that Switch Pro should be this year, but at this point I think it's unlikely

The entire product is made with it being lesser. Functionality, price, market. The Lite literally only exists to be a product for people who want to play handheld only. Almost everyone else is served by the normal Switch including kids. We’ve seen this bore in both sales & anecdotal evidence from JP sales threads.

What your suggesting defats the entire purpose of the Lite. And, starts competing with the Switch especially with the add-ons. I don’t think they’ll deviate much from either form factor in terms of size. It seems they found a sizing in between phone & tablet that most people are fine with.

It's just two coincidences, no? Splatoon tournament and OLED video?
I'm counting the oddity of the June Partner Showcase (I'll always consider it a weird choice no matter how they give their news for the rest of the year - unless there's hardware) as a coincidence as well. The fact that this is all happening in a window that lines up with what Nate shared many, many months ago is yet another one, and it lines up with other insiders indicating they heard 2022 software (namely Sparks of Hope) is enhanced by new hardware.

Again, none of this is strong. Enhanced software doesn't have to launch particularly close to the hardware. The window could've changed. There could be other reasons for both the Partner Showcase and the Splatoon gap. The OLED video removal is almost unquestionably search engine optimization, but doesn't have to mean anything is happening now.

But man, it sure would make sense.
