like, the vast majority of consumers are going to buy the base Switch or maybe an OLED or maybe even a Lite. This unit is not for them, at least at launch.

It depends. If it's the successor (which I think is how it will be marketed), of course they're going to want the vast majority of current Switch owners to buy it.
 
I think people are forgetting that Switch at launch sold just out of hype with a poor software lineup outside of BOTW. Now the next console will have all Switch backlog (but better) and more day 1 exclusives (even if from 3rd parties) if the rumors are true

Ah, in that case yeah. But I also don’t think it’s going to be considered the successor. I think this is going to be a Pro model in the same way an iPad Pro is: more powerful, but is expensive and is kinda only for people who already know they want/need it.

How would you feel if they just drop a new trailer for BOTW2 in 7 minutes? You know, just those sweet 2 minutes showing the game. That would be a classic Nintendo moment.

The price-quality ratio is definitely not overhyped. Bang for your buck. The same $$ gets you half a menu at Shake Shack whereas at five guys you wouldn’t even get a milkshaje. In-n-out offers you a full menu for that money.
