StarTopic Future Nintendo Hardware & Technology Speculation & Discussion |ST| (Read the staff posts before commenting!)

It's an interesting topic. It's a misconception to think that Faraday cages necessarily block electromagnetic waves; indeed, electrons in the metal often can't follow the frequency of the EM waves and oscillate phase shifted.
However, a Faraday cage is very efficient at blocking a lightning strike.

That being said, it's often preferable to position whichever antenna in a smart way, and have a small plastic or glass element in the casing.

Apple laptops are doing great.
Apple seems to puts the Wi-Fi antennae by the cooling vent on recent MacBooks, which is admittedly very clever engineering on Apple's part.

I should also mention that metals, including aluminium, can also be good heat conductors as well. I remember the Nintendo Switch equipped with the 20 nm** Tegra X1 that I have can feel very warm (almost hot) after playing in TV mode for around 30 minutes. I don't know if that's still the case with the Nintendo Switch equipped with the 16 nm** Tegra X1+ or the OLED model since I don't own those.

** → marketing nomenclature by foundry companies

This is only tangentially related to the thread, but I think the confidence in it being a mini Direct seems a bit... misplaced given how this sort of thing has played out in the past. I personally don't really take any rumors about what type of Direct we're getting particularly seriously.

In the name of COVID prevention, Nintendo advised that the shareholder meeting this year will be shortened, and the number of Q&As will be reduced too (source). So I wouldn’t expect too much from the meeting. It’s almost like they are hiding something. /s

If it’s releasing at 11 PM JST as rumored it will be a Mini; that’s not the air time they drop any general at, even the E3 Directs were two hours later. Not particularly relevant to this thread though, I agree, as I doubt this next showing will have much to do with the upcoming hardware.

@LiC is better at explaining it as they actually saw it but…

And that's how Dane became Drake

Perhaps! There was no mention of a node from the breach, so while the API could function for probably both, Dane probably became Drake in the same vein Erista became Mariko for the switch.

Though, I’m just speculating on this part. DANE is apparently hardly mentioned in the breach, but Drake is everywhere.

Erista is T210, mariko is t214. The next Nintendo soc was always T239.

I’m Not buying this theory at all.

I don't believe any suggestion that the OLED model was at any point meant to be anything more than it was has any merit. The Aula datamine happened in April 2020 and the final device was exactly what the datamine suggested.
