StarTopic Future Nintendo Hardware & Technology Speculation & Discussion |ST| (Read the staff posts before commenting!)

I just wanted to say that I appreciate any posts in my thread and that I am not in the habit of garbage threads like that, I meant no harm or intent to spread misinformation and I thought it would be a good laugh to those who are actually informed.

I do not hold any ill will to the people who corrected me and took any jabs in good fun. I love everyone in our community and hope y’all have a good day!!
Even though i've never seen you. I respect your profound words man.

Little from Column A & a little from Column B.

Please let column B be more about announcement and release timing than the hardware itself. I can suffer “it’s delayed”, but some disappointment around the actual device after all this time - that’s rough.

Edit: Don’t want to bring further dooming into the thread. It would just be nice to have something tangible to be optimistic about around the system.

I'm now curious what's the slight positive and the negative is, like is the hardware the positive, meanwhile software the positive or could be the other way around.
I'm now killing with suspense.

Nate from the scale of 1-10 how bad and good is Golumn A And B.
is it 50/50 or does the positive outweigh the negative

you might be pressing a bit 😆
relax, the leaks shall set all of us free (for better or worse).

Let’s try not to continuously @ members (Nate).

His post was vague sure, but it’s unreasonable to assume everything he hears is positive.* It’s a pretty innocuous statement.

It won’t be that long before we get something concrete.

Edit: * here’s totally fabricated but believable placeholder you can slot into the negative bucket to calm the doom - “we have no idea when it’s going to be fully revealed.” boom. negative.

My guess is some more impressive things were shown but it's for sure march 2025 at the earliest.
True since the switch 2 will be bigger generational leap than the ps4 to ps5 since Nintendo has been using a supped up ps3 (spec wise). If the bad news is that it's delayed until march, then i wouldn't mind it.

It's not looking for the Series S here and it's getting a little sweatier for the Switch 2 potentially.

(Open world horror has a ton of potential, but without a hunger system or other survival elements, it's not nearly as interesting)
Judging by the Switch 1 Capcom support for Switch 2 will be lacklustre. They are no longer an important partner of Nintendo. They are mainly a PC developer now anyway.

Didn't they shit the bed with the Dragon Dogma 2 PC port though, like it's currently mixed, because of crashes, fps and optimization problems. reply if i'm wrong though.

I highly doubt this. Rise wasn’t that long ago, it’s one of the most significant third party efforts to target Switch over its entire generation, and it sold very well. Switch was just too far removed from other RE Engine work to make sense.

Capcom isn’t going to sacrifice what they are trying to accomplish for the sake of significantly worse hardware, but Switch 2 is not Switch. We don’t know how capable it will be to get ports, but it’s totally premature to call support being lackluster.

As for Dragon’s Dogma 2? I’m still early but I don’t think it’s up to Monster Hunter standards. I don’t know the budget it was created on, but I won’t take the performance as indicative of any major releases moving forward. I wouldn’t be surprised if they get the game working on Steam Deck over the next 6 months, and it’s getting like sub 15 fps over there today.

Judging by the new type of games they make that are not even optimized for PS5 it seems Switch 2 is not realistic any longer. That is why Capcom is not important for Nintendo. Dragon's Dogma II will then lead naturally to the same conclusion for MH Wilds.

I literally just said I wouldn’t personally take Dragons Dogma 2 as an indication of anything. DD1 was a weird, kind of budget experimental title. DD2 was assuredly not afforded the budget and time of Monster Hunter and Resident Evil. Edit: Seems I was wrong on this one.

We do have the Capcom ransomware leak that places DD2's budget above RE Village and smack dab in the middle of MH Rise and MH6's budget. It's comparable.

Saying “Capcom isn’t important” is unfounded pessimism at this stage.

The difference between DD2 and MH Wilds is one has the potential to sell 4 million units in Japan and the other will be dead on arrival.

Whether they get MH Wilds on Switch 2 will be independent of how DD2 runs.

Well colour me shocked. Must be the open world tax. Then my current stance is they bit off far more than they could chew this round. I’ll update my original post.

Edit: Wilds performing and looking like DD2 on PS5 and PC doesn’t make sense to me. I cannot fathom that this is how they want their games to run. DD2, despite its budget, feels like it needed more time in the oven.

Wild screams "runs fine on steam deck" so I wouldn't be worried about the switch 2 version... I'd be shocked, gooped in fact, if it the release date being 2025 wasn't related to it. Anything else from Capcom though? Lmao. It's like expecting GTAVI tbh

Obviously there's probably a difference between the projected cost to develop and the actual, but in relative rankings it's MH Rise < RE Village < RE Apocalypse = DD2 < MH6. With MH6's budget being ~2x MH Rise's.

Are we doomposting now?

Again, pretending Rise/Sunbreak wasn’t a thing on Switch. And completely ignoring the fact that mainline MH games has been coming to Nintendo consoles since 2008 (over a decade, multiple MH games). I don’t know what’s up with your discord toward Capcom in general

No chance that Xbox is a viable challenge for Nintendo in the handheld space. As Sony found out; Nintendo games like Pokemon are much more preferred played in a handheld format than the type of games Sony and Microsoft studios make. No one can touch Nintendo when it comes to handheld gaming.

If Xbox gets destroyed by Playstation in the home console space, its even tougher for them to compete with Nintendo in the handheld space, where Nintendo has dominated even Sony.
Well, the issue with Sony was they had two different set of library. What if we did get a handheld with the power of a Series S (like when this generation finish). You can have thousands of games in handheld form
On the other hand, people today use their handheld PCs to play Nintendo Switch games, they won't play Switch 2 games on their handheld PCs soon.
5 or 6 million people total aren't a thing compared to 140 million people. The average consumer probably doesn't even know that PC handheld exist. Think about it. Forget the legion go, forget the Ally. You have the Steamdeck. The most popular handheld today and is only at ~2% of the Switch total sales.
Xbox's biggest problem now is it's basically a nonentity outside NA, and even there the Switch is STILL beating them

It will take alot of work to repair the brand at this point
Let me tell you a quick story. I was browsing the Xbox store on my Series S and I see one my favorite Xbox exclusive (at the time) Sea of Thieves. I had gamepass for quite a while but I stopped paying for it. I was looking to see if I can buy it. 40 bucks. I said to myself, " I ain't paying for this shit!" It didn't make sense, I love the game. I then realized what happened. Gamepass made me undervalued any games on Xbox. I think alot of people might feel the same way as well.

Same as people wont buy full price game in Steam. Most people wait for big discount no matter what.

so Nate and Necro seem to hint at something being reported in a matter of weeks, the only thing that would truly be considered Negative to me is if the system gets internally delayed even further
