is more time really going to make enough of a difference for it to be worth it to you?Too soon?
Arceus still has performance issues despite of not being technically impressive.
so none of this is ambition to you?Would be very sad if that’s the case. Why have any ambition at all..?
couldn't hurtis more time really going to make enough of a difference for it to be worth it to you?
Switch does have more games than "Pokémon Legends Arceus" and "Vroom in the night sky".Yup, people (including myself) shat on arceus before launch and it ended up being possibly the best looking game on the system.
That's a matter of design priority, but neither choice should make a big difference when it comes to things like like pop-in, aliasing, texture resolution. That's a whole other department's job.And as always, call me when BOTW has remotely the number of unique enemy designs and animations and such designs that everyone expects a Pokémon game to have.
You can have detailed designs or hundreds of them, pick one.
Okay but a lot of times when people say “looks like fakemon,” they can’t articulate why it makes them feel that way, so they grok towards the baseline way to express that.Exactly my point.
That’s subjective. What hardware limitations? BOTW, a launch game that ran even on weaker hardware looks better than Arceus!
Yeah if they want to go into this direction I think they'll have to rework it.I hope Game Freak doesnt use the battle mechanics of PLA in this game because they frankly were horrible (especially the damage formula) it worked for PLA but in a more classic Pokemon game it would make the battle system and PvP broken
can’t speak to others but personally I’ve just wanted games with big, meaty campaigns/regions like Platinum and BW2 but in 3D. I would gladly take a limited Pokédex if it meant getting a 30 hour campaign with a lot of postgame areas to traverse and cool areas and dungeons to explore. That’s what I mostly play Pokémon for and SWSH is my least favorite because it was very much lacking in that.like what is it people want?? I don’t understand?? I don’t understand!!
There is something like too much of a good thing. Fatigue is no abstract concept. Beside that, these games clearly need more time in the oven.is more time really going to make enough of a difference for it to be worth it to you?
I never said that. I was just talking about, how this and Arceus are the games with the most advancements in quite some time.so none of this is ambition to you?
That I can understand. Some of my friends that like Pokemon even more than I do are complaining about fatigue. For me it’s less about the quality but more like… I wish they just let the games stand out on their own for a little bit. Potentially 3 Pokemon games in a year is a lot! It would be nice to be able to savor them a bit more.
Yeah of they want to go into this direction I think they'll have to rework it.
It wasn't as big if a problem in Arceus cause it was less focussed on battles and more on the collection asoect of the games.
There's been a new generation every three years...for a long time now.
Yes? It means more time to polish performance.is more time really going to make enough of a difference for it to be worth it to you?
Not really? It looks better than Arceus. That’s subjective.
“Shut yourself on the train” is my new favorite insult.gonna stop being rammy for a minute to spread the joy of auto-populated mistranslation articles
yeah, there were several areas that were less interesting and exciting in terms of post-game stuff, but I think that was to drive the Wild Area as the post-game hub. and then the expansions fucking ruled.can’t speak to others but personally I’ve just wanted games with big, meaty campaigns/regions like Platinum and BW2 but in 3D. I would gladly take a limited Pokédex if it meant getting a 30 hour campaign with a lot of postgame areas to traverse and cool areas and dungeons to explore. That’s what I mostly play Pokémon for and SWSH is my least favorite because it was very much lacking in that.
I haven’t played Arceus so maybe this new open approach will be good, but in a vacuum, that’s all I would want.
I feel like the more hardcore Pokemon fans are the ones that burn out first. I personally can't imagine playing SwSh then BDSP then PLA then SV. I'd crave different experiences. That I can understand. Some of my friends that like Pokemon even more than I do are complaining about fatigue.
I'm specifically referring to the sentiment that the game has to be rushed and mediocre just because of the release window.
The names of the starters are great too! Sprigatito? Fuecoco? Those are boppable names.
You're not alone in your confusion. Even my Pokemon-crazy friends that loved Arceus were initially underwhelmed and kinda annoyed, which left my flabbergasted as this looks like it's building on Legends Arceus in every way I wanted it to. But I think they're just more fatigued than anything else (although I think one of them is still untrusting of GameFreak).I know I should avoid Pokémon discourse on the internet because every time I feel fucking insane
this is a “holy shit looks good I’m so stoked that it’s coming this year” for me
so many assumptions about team makeup and dev schedules and shit like what counts as “unfinished” and “bad” in previous games like ??? I don’t even understand
like… you wanting something different doesn’t make Sword & Shield bad at what it was doing. I fucking loved it tbh, I can understand why people didn’t like some of the choices but they were choices
there are always gonna be choices when they develop these games
like what is it people want?? I don’t understand?? I don’t understand!! like what do you need to mod Elden Ring to catch shit in??? why do I feel so much more fucking insane reading about Pokémon than I even feel railing against and screaming about the state of the fucking world???? what is happening and why is this bothering me so much????????
so yeah uh please disregard, I’m just gonna tap out and y’all enjoy the discourse
it’s totally spain
wtf was happening in that live action intro though I’m v confused about escalator cop
oh god oh no I like discussing it
I’m gonna be subject to these takes forever
aaaaaaaaaaaaaaah!!!!
to me it feels great! but uh that seems to not be the consensusLOD management and world design look like a step up from Arceus. It's still not on par with the likes of BotW (not a fair comparison maybe), but it's a lot more visually coherent than Arceus.
P.S.: also wondering what it feels like being a Pokémon fan and getting so many games :O .
do you mean lack of anti-aliasing?My initial thoughts:
- Wow. Can't believe this is coming out this year. Legends Arceus and Gen 9 in the same year seems insane.
- Love all the starters. In previous gens there was usually one or two I wasn't a fan of - but I love all 3 of these.
- The lack of aliasing is just bad. Like holy hell.
- Love the vibrant colors and design of the world.
- This has me excited in a way that Sword/Shield never did.
The wild area was a cool experiment that seems to have laid the groundwork for a more open Pokemon experience but it didn’t do much for me, after the novelty wore off for a couple of hours I was pretty bored by it. That’s not getting into all the routes and caves being very boring and lacking in design and personality, and the final sequence of story battles being a pale imitation of the elite four.yeah, there were several areas that were less interesting and exciting in terms of post-game stuff, but I think that was to drive the Wild Area as the post-game hub. and then the expansions fucking ruled.
I had about 80 hours in before the expansions but I can also appreciate that I am an outlier and some sort of… game freak
I don't understandSwitch does have more games than "Pokémon Legends Arceus" and "Vroom in the night sky".
Considering abillities are back and online, I don't think strong/agile or the turn order will be back.I hope Game Freak doesnt use the battle mechanics of PLA in this game because they frankly were horrible (especially the damage formula) it worked for PLA but in a more classic Pokemon game it would make the battle system and PvP broken
cries in Zeldato me it feels great! but uh that seems to not be the consensus
It is, dont let vocal people paint the overall picture.to me it feels great! but uh that seems to not be the consensus
oh don’t worry I’m there toocries in Zelda
Very few people would find Arceus to be the best looking game on the system unless a lot of other games ceased to exist.I don't understand
the jumps in improvement from SS to IoA/CT to LA makes me optimistic that this will be goodI am very, very interested to see how a GF open world game stacks up against other titles on the market. they need to make sure to...actually put interesting things in their wide open spaces, which takes a lot of time and resources
Oh for sure. I've enjoyed 2017 (BotW), 2019 (LA) and 2021 (SS). AoC had some great music and good intentions but was intensely repetitive and a chugfest .oh don’t worry I’m there too
though I’ve really enjoyed the annual releases except Age of Calamity / Hyrule Warriors (because I haven’t played much of it and Warriors games are weird to me)
wow that's really interestingVery few people would find Arceus to be the best looking game on the system unless a lot of other games ceased to exist.
