Sure, but at this point, shouldn’t we maybe be more aware of the hardware limitations, and not expect the game to look like it isn’t running on Switch? It's a perfectly valid critique? I loved Arceus, but would obviously like the game to be a little stronger technically.
they said that DLC will take up the role of third versions. so Isle of Armor/Crown Tundra-styled expansions are definitely gonna happen? You're saying they already announced DLC for this? What lol
Ohh gotcha, nicethey said that DLC will take up the role of third versions. so Isle of Armor/Crown Tundra-styled expansions are definitely gonna happen
Didn't even watch the trailer, as soon as I saw the Fami headlines I went on media blackout. All images and embeds blocked, both on desktop and phone. Well I don't mind reading stuff about the games for now, but maybe I'll phase that out too eventually
This announcement basically confirms to me that Arceus was originally supposed to be the 2021 holiday title, got delayed and BDSP were outsourced to fill in the gap
What hardware limitations? BOTW, a launch game that ran even on weaker hardware looks better than Arceus!Sure, but at this point, shouldn’t we maybe be more aware of the hardware limitations, and not expect the game to look like it isn’t running on Switch?

I hope not. At this point, I feel almost apathetic regarding Pokémon. Not even tired anymore. Which is ironic, because for the first time in many years, there is real substantial advancement on the horizon.Well thats the big Christmas game for Switch.
So this is the new mainline game right?
Sure, if you want to nitpick that then let's talk about how XC2, a game from the launch year and has a great variety of enemies, looks better than Arceus then. And as always, call me when BOTW has remotely the number of unique enemy designs and animations and such designs that everyone expects a Pokémon game to have.
You can have detailed designs or hundreds of them, pick one.
If people would be ok with a Pokémon game with like fifty Pokémon total, well, then maybe it'll start looking like BOTW.
Not remotely infeasible at all. If they knew a year ahead of time, that's enough time to outsource a bare bones remake like BDSP. And considering how rushed and broken the game is relatively speaking, I have no problem believing it was developed in a year or less. It's really not impossible at all for them to have planned for this, considering we're in the middle of a... global pandemic and all. Doesn't take a genius to predict release schedules might get impacted and build in a backup plan. Not even remotely feasible. This has always been a crazy conspiracy theory. They would have to have known years in advance that arceus would be two months late finishing development to make that a possible line of events in any sense of the word.
They would also have had to make the explicit decision to not make any remakes on switch, in your version of events, which, yeah, not likely
I think Arceus looks pretty good and did from the start, but best game on the system? BruhYup, people (including myself) shat on arceus before launch and it ended up being possibly the best looking game on the system.
Xenoblade 2 doesn't dip quite that low in handheld*, and what I'm seeing from Xenoblade 3 leads me to believe it could render at a higher resolution.People are tripping. This looks GREAT. Also won't run at 360p like Xenoblade 3 will in handheld.
So does this. Like, noticably. What hardware limitations? BOTW, a launch game that ran even on weaker hardware looks better than Arceus!
People hating on Pokemon designs is eternal.I gotta say. People saying Fakemon is one of the dumbest things.
I don’t think they look bad, but something about the coloring looks weird to me, that’s why I said fakemon. Maybe they’ll look better when we get cleaner versions of their art. It’s not a capital insult lolI gotta say. People saying Fakemon is one of the dumbest things.
It’s a game where they’re reaching 1000. Had the originals Gen 1 come out now, y’all be saying fakemon too. Fakemon just sounds like a way to critique without putting any efforts into actually critiquing. I thought Gen 5 had some of the worst starters reveals and I didn’t ever think of them as Fakemons. Didn’t like Gen 8 eithers.
Just say they look ugly or too simple lol
It would've been too high of an expectation if Arceus hadn't just done thatI think it looks good, or let's say appealing enough, if a switch Pro is releasing this year this could look great even
The quality of the game is what's worrying, being Open World could mean GF is ready to let loose from holding players hand and making the game braindead again, but that's a bit too high of an expectation to have for them
Well releasing Gen 9 soon after Arceus show that Arceus was just to test the waters and GF wasn't that confident in the gameIt would've been too high of an expectation if Arceus hadn't just done that
Maybe that game is making me too positive about Pokémon but I'm feeling pretty good about this one

They are seamless! They officially confirmed it’s open world with cities blended seamlessly into natureIn terms of art style, I also find Gen 9 more cohesive than PLA, especially the skybox and all the biome textures. Also it would be bonker if we have seamless transition between routes and towns/cities (or at least the major ones line in the screenshot).
That is fan fiction, you have proof that GF wasn't confident in the game? Some interview?Well releasing Gen 9 soon after Arceus show that Arceus was just to test the waters and GF wasn't that confident in the game
Ah I’m not no counting remakes. Although I’m currently almost done with Let’s Go and I’m actually loving it so far. The music and art style and the spirit of the first game. And while controversial, I like the catching mechanic cause random battles in the old games free thin on me so much. You are correct, what I meant by last four was BDSP/SWSH/Let's Go and USUM (which is the least offensive of the four but had no right being two versions alongside other issues).
Again, I liked PLA despite being concerned during its first trailer, hopefully the same thing happens with this game.
??????Did not want a 2nd open world brand new Pokemon game this year.
Too soon???????
wh… why?
Very bad? Really?Graphics look very bad still. Hope the gameplay is a return to form and undoes all the bad decisions of the modern (Gen 6+) games (lack of post-game content, handholding, route simplification, lack of dungeons, bad stories, etc.)
For me it’s less about the quality but more like… I wish they just let the games stand out on their own for a little bit. Potentially 3 Pokemon games in a year is a lot! It would be nice to be able to savor them a bit more.Oh - and the sentiment that this is too soon to actually be good feels like the Pokemon Legends Arceus reveal and then release date announcement all over again. We know way less about the game - including the development timeline - then y'all are acting like.
Nintendo doesn’t set deadlines, TPC/GameFreak does. And new gens are synchronized with merchandise lines so that affects it as well.Man, I would love for once a Pokémon game gets announced and the conversation doesn’t immediately devolve into how it’s rushed, looks bad, etc. Pokemon games always look fine, never graphical powerhouses, but people always have this weird expectation that the next game is gonna look amazing and it just never does. It’s just not the series for that.
I also wonder, is there any actual proof that GameFreak has a lot or crunch or that Nintendo is setting aggressive deadlines? Something that gets repeated a lot is how these games are rushed and if GameFreak had more time it would be a much different and better product. I dunno, maybe they just don’t want to do that? It could be kind of freeing to not have a 5 year development cycle bogged down with creating a massive open world game with AAA graphics. Everyone assumes if GF had more time that they would create the perfect Pokémon game for them personally, but maybe this is what GF wants to make. I’m not a game dev, I’m just a regular dev, but personally I find it a lot more satisfying to do quick iterations on smaller projects than it is to get bogged down in some massive multi year project.
Would be very sad if that’s the case. Why have any ambition at all..?Something that gets repeated a lot is how these games are rushed and if GameFreak had more time it would be a much different and better product. I dunno, maybe they just don’t want to do that?
Exactly my point.I don’t think they look bad, but something about the coloring looks weird to me, that’s why I said fakemon.
