The Legend of Zelda: When Did Milk Become Five Dollars a GallonImagine a Zelda game set in modern times.
From what I can tell it's the latter, though I'm just glancing at the staff credits.Sorry I was talking more about the teams within Omega Force under Koei Tecmo. Like are the same developers working on the 2 warriors series on after another or are they developed in tandem alongside their other warriors properties
Maybe I need to take another look at it, and it’s probably a mash up of different things, but the thing that stood out most to me was those blocky mountains from 3D World, yeah.Isn't...not Mushroom Kingdom inspired? Like, the grass style, the background mountains, the usage of the fortress, those are right from the standard Mario design. But it's also clearly trying to evoke the blocky mountains of the Sprixie Kingdom. I guess Nintendo wants to have their cake and eat it too?
Yeah I expect something similar but unlike a lot of people, I'm thinking Nintendo won't bother adding more systems to the base level sub. I think the GB systems are going in the Expansion Pack, so a similar content roll out makes sense. This was (kind of?) how N64 and Genesis were handled, other than being both on the Expansion- N64 launched with nine games, Genesis launched with fourteen, N64 games are one every month, Genesis games are 3-6 every two/three
Genuine question for the thread but do any of you folks genuinely want to see a Sci-Fi mainline zelda or a zelda set in space bc I do not understand the appeal of that at all.
Sneaking in a secret quest or implementing something extra terrestrial in BotW2 as a side quest/expansion? Fully down for that. Just don't want it as an overall theme for a main game.

I'm just looking at the Mobygames listings. The Fire Emblem Warriors games don't have credits listed on the site, but looking at Age of Calamity, it doesn't seem to have a ton of crossover in terms of staff with the first Hyrule Warriors game specifically.Thank you! Where would I find the credits? I’m guessing they’re listed somewhere online?

That said you can for sure have sci-fi elements in fantasy games. They can even be a major focus. BotW's entire backstory revolved around robots.
This. Just look at Arcane/League of Legends. That's the standard for sci-fi fantasy.I don't see why a sci-fi Zelda game couldn't have the fantasy elements. It would recontextualize the world but you can still all the fantasy creatures, kingdoms, magic, etc.
Fami Fami...Ride the FamiEven though Zelda has so many games, there aren't many "spinoffs" (I am counting handheld and console zelda). You got the Warriors games(2), Cadence, Crossbow training, I am not sure about 4 swords (can go either way on those), the Cd-i games(i guess), and the tingle games.
I think mario's cast not only are consistent but also ideal for broader spinoffs (also dedicated teams). But given the difficulty retro had pitching zelda games (granted those had more of a upper management situation), what would it take to greenlit a zelda spinoff?
For the sake of arguments, lets say there is a in-house team or a partner. Is it genre that the biggest hurdle? Is the timeline a consideration? Is it due to the ever changing cast of characters? Could Breath of the Wild solidify those "problems"?

That's more or less what I'm talking about. Fantasy base with sci-fi elements.I don't see why a sci-fi Zelda game couldn't have the fantasy elements. It would recontextualize the world but you can still all the fantasy creatures, kingdoms, magic, etc.
To me the biggest hurdle for a zelda spin off is the genre, what would you make? And if you make an action game based on zelda well, just make it a new zelda.Even though Zelda has so many games, there aren't many "spinoffs" (I am counting handheld and console zelda). You got the Warriors games(2), Cadence, Crossbow training, I am not sure about 4 swords (can go either way on those), the Cd-i games(i guess), and the tingle games.

Everybody in the know (my minds a little hazy), was it rumoured Monolith Soft has been working on another game besides Xenoblade 3?
I thought it was generally understood that they worked on Definitive Edition and 3 concurrently, which wouldn't really leave teams available for an entire extra project, but I'm not an expert.Everybody in the know (my minds a little hazy), was it rumoured Monolith Soft has been working on another game besides Xenoblade 3?

Here’s some good ol’ fashioned pessimism for ya:Too much optimism in here, where’s the insider saying they heard it’s a Brain Training Direct after all???
For what it’s worth, I could definitely see a holiday 2023 release date. I do think we’ll get a new trailer next week at least.Oh, and official BotW 2 prediction:
No new trailer. No release date, no title, no anything other than perhaps another apology for another delay and a request for patience.
Trailer at the Game Awards in December with title and release date (November 17, 2023) or “Holiday 2023” window. (You don’t release a game like BotW 2 in, like, August, you just don’t.)
I was actually thinking about this a lot over the last few days as to why Mario has so many “spin off” games while Nintendo’s other major games like Zelda and Animal Crossing have nowhere near as many. The conclusion I came to was it being a combination of a lot of the Mario Spin off series starting off in the early days of Nintendo as in the time since then becoming series in their own right (Mario Kart being one of their consistent best sellers), so a sort of grandfather clause for series like Kart, Party, and then the ones like Yoshi, Wario, DK(kinda) that originated/have ties to Mario.
Mario is also the mascot of Nintendo so it makes sense to use their most iconic character in all sorts of spin offs whenever they need a cast to support something like a kart racer or a party game, etc. It also helps establish their mascot by having him appear in so many series.
The third thing I thought of that I’m not as certain in, but just on a cursory glance at some sales stuff I don’t really think things like Zelda/Animal Crossing were selling on the same level as Mario until recently (I guess 3DS/DS era for AC, but we’ve seen more recent attempts at spin offs with Happy Home and Amiibo Festival). I guess maybe if Zelda continues to perform at levels similar as BotW we might see more exploration into Spin offs beyond what we have now? (Also someone please correct me if I’m wrong on the sales thing, I know AC was super popular on DS/3DS)
Another thing though, at the moment with how resource intensive games are and how resource constrained Nintendo seems to be is there a reason right now to invest in spin offs that will probably sell less than the main games when they could probably find more worth in their resources being used on the main games. Of course there’s always outsourcing but we’re already seeing that with the Warriors games and Cadence, so idk how much it could grow beyond that.
I mean of course I’d love to see some more spin-offs and still kinda of really want a stealthy Sheikah type of game, or a Splatoon Skating Sports game, or whatever but idk if it’s possible in the current state of things .
This is going to be another "do you pronounce it 'brothers' or 'bros'" situation but way worseThe Legend of Zelda:
but in order to do that they'd have to make up some sort of contrived reason for the different Xenoblade worlds to merge together and I just don't see that workingcoughXenoblade Warriors please please pleasecough
Is there a chance it will be in 2 weeks though?? I feel like it will be definitely before TGS like Grubb says but idk
Anyways im getting really excited now that were a week away
This is it, and it's also part of why Nintendo has always pushed Mario as the company's mascot (besides just sales numbers lmao). He was designed as a simple to understand character with the intention of being used for a variety of games. This philosophy has extended to the rest of the series cast.My guess is that the main reason Mario gets more spin-offs is because of the simplicity of the cast. You don't need to play Super Mario Land to know what Daisy's deal is or any of the DK games to figure out what he's about because Mario games don't have an RPG's worth of lore and characterization. This extends to Pokémon as well: Pikachu's cute, Charizard breathes fire, Lucario's a cool guy, pick the ones that work for your thing and people can figure it out even if they aren't Pokémon masters
