1. Pacific Drive - This is a survival-horror game where you drive a car through a supernatural version of the Olympic Peninsula in the Pacific Northwest. The trailers already looked good, but the previews came out a few days ago and they're all glowing. Definitely a project I'm keeping an eye on!

Ayyyyyy a friend of mine just told me about this yesterday!! A game where you drive a classic station wagon through the PNW, like someone just knew what my life's dream was.

As someone who now lives in the Pacific Northwest, yep, this game is pretty accurate lmao

Seriously though, I always thought the weird fog and spooky atmosphere you always see in media based in the PNW was exaggerated, but nope, that's just how it is here. It's very different from where I grew up in Florida.

Yeah the few times I've visited I was up and around pretty early and the shit the mist does with the light (especially around forestry areas!!) is just amazing.

I live in a place where the fog is pretty bad but it mostly just makes everything disappear a few feet away like an N64 game. But the PNW is more like a modern game with particle effects and "god rays" sliders cranked way up.

Week 3 - What four games would you like to see most in Year 1 for Switch 2 and why? You can pick either realistic or dream guesses.
3D Mario - everyone is saying this and I’m joining in, it is definitely time for a new 3D Mario. Would love it to continue what Odyssey did but with some refinements, or go the Bowser’s Fury route and have big areas with platforming fun. Either way, cannot wait to play it.

Pilotwings - harping back to the 3DS launch titles, a new Pilotwings would be amazing and could be a great title to showcase the graphics of the new system. Have a fully detailed Wuhu Island, pristine waters, out-of-this-world cloud graphics!! If they want they could even do real-time weather. Would make for a nice smaller title for the new Switch!

2D Zelda - either a new one or a remake of the Minish Cap/Oracle of Ages/Seasons. If this were to happen, it would basically be an inverse of 2023, where a 3D Zelda and 2D Mario released - and I find that humerous.

And finally, a dream pick

Clubhouse Games - A nice multiplayer oriented game for the New Switch’s first year. What I would love with this is to basically expand the games and setting. Make it take place in a casino or an arcade (bring back the Bunny from the Badge Arcade if you have to!). More games to play, including traditional smaller games such as tic-tac-toe, rock paper scissors, and have ones that are more well known like Battleship or a parody of Perfection (there is potential here with the HD rumble of joycons, making them “pop”). But the ‘dream’ part of this pick is the soundtrack - the most unrealistic thing but the music should be composed in collaboration with Sting, just the most jazziest, upbeat music you’ve heard while playing these games. Would make for a relaxing time imo!

Nah...

I knew they were making the long-lost third Oracle game, including the follow-up for once saves for each individual game are linked; it's all part of explaining how the disparate timelines converged and created the new reality of Breath of the Wild / Tears of the Kingdom, where everything previously known happened but is remembered only as contradictory legends.

-3D Mario, I mean, it's inevitable at this point, lol, but I also just have the urge to play a new 3D Mario that isn't Odyssey or Bowser Fury. I do hope that if it is an open-world game, there's still some sense of direction in it.

-Tomodachi Life, if it doesn't make it onto Switch 1, then I have some amount of faith that it will be one of the titles that will be released in the months between big game releases; I also want it a lot for more wacky scenarios with miis and the possibility of the miitopia mii maker being added.

-Chibi Robo, this one is the absolute pipe dream, but I would love it if there was a new game made in the style of the first Chibi Robo game but had the concept expanded to exploring multiple houses in a neighborhood as a helper robot.

-Then, finally, Something Star Fox related; I picked Star Fox because I think it would be interesting if they could expand the sci-fi theme of the series with new ideas as a way of revitalizing the franchise and not have it be another retelling of SF64. I also think it would have the possibility of looking absolutely gorgeous on Switch 2.

Week 3 - What four games would you like to see most in Year 1 for Switch 2 and why? You can pick either realistic or dream guesses.
My four:

Kirby's Galactic Odyssey - The big launch game: Is it 3D Mario? Is it 3D DK? Nope, it's 3D Kirby! Go on an interplanetary adventure with Kirby and their Warp Star. Discover dozens of unique copy abilities and secrets scattered across the diverse environments you explore. Save worlds at risk of being taken over by The Darkness and defeat the threat once and for all. When you want to take a break from the heroics, explore Fun-Fun Land, a (multiplayer) planet where heroes from all over come to compete in fun games and combat.

Chibi-Robo: City Living - Chibi-Robo returns in his biggest adventure yet. Chibi-Robo works as a concierge in a large apartment building. His official responsibility is to greet the tenants and keep the main lobby clean. Over time, though, he'll befriend the residents and, impressed by his good work, they may even invite him to visit. Uncover the hidden stories of the strangers living above Chibi-Robo and use his unique talents to assist them in finding their way to happiness. Dormant for years, Chibi-Robo is now fully charged and ready to help!

Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney - Back in Court - Ace Attorney 7 is here! Follow Phoenix Wright, Athena Cykes, and newcomer attorney Charlotte Verdante as they fight for their clients and the truth! With her rural upbringing and signature style, Charlotte is green in more ways than one. However, her Disarming Charm serves her well in getting the answers she needs in her pursuit of justice. Quirky characters and shocking twists await players in five new cases existing fans and series newcomers alike won't want to miss.

Golden Sun: A New Day - Golden Sun is back and burning brighter than ever. Camelot leads a collaborative production of an expansive Golden Sun game. Taking place hundreds of years after the events of the previous games in the series, journey with a new cast around Weyard once again. Learn powerful Psynergy, find mystical Djinn, and unlock stunning summons to face imposing foes in the epic adventure ahead. Use your abilities to solve ancient puzzles and help the people you meet around the continents of Weyard, or just read everyone's minds. It's all your choice. Wherever your adventure takes you, remarkable visuals will be sure to please. A new fantasy awaits!

As for why, it's because these are all franchises that are meaningful to me and, apart from Kirby, that have all been missing for too long. Golden Sun in particular was inspired by the recent NSO announcement. I saw others mention Chibi-Robo in this thread and elsewhere on the forum, so I wanted to add my voice to that demand. Phoenix Wright was because Capcom is running out of remasters to release, and while I'm happy to see the Apollo Justice trilogy come back, I'm most looking forward to playing a new story. Lastly, I included Kirby because I think it'd be cool to see the next Kirby game build on Forgotten Land. I'm also interested in seeing what a Kirby game with the ambition, budget, and scope of a game like Super Mario Odyssey would look like.

There are so many other dream games I could have included, so hopefully this next console makes all my dreams come true. No matter what, I have confidence there are some incredible experiences coming.

A new action IP by Monolith Soft — It’s been rumoured for a while, and while I honestly doubt it’s real at this point, damn if I wouldn’t love to play it.

3D Donkey Kong game — Another one that’s been rumoured for a while and seems less likely as time goes on. Honestly, I think if we get DK Anything it’ll probably be 2D, but I think a new take on the great ape in 3D applying what Nintendo’s learned from games like Super Mario Odyssey and Breath of the Wild would be an amazing experience.

Kingdom Hearts 4 — Probably not gonna happen, but as an on-again off-again KH fan I’d love to get my hands on this one. The visuals look beautiful and I’m frothing at the mouth for the chance to dig into whatever refinements it’s made to the KH formula.

New StarTropics — Come on Nintendo, this series deserves the chance to get a modern reinvention! I’d love to see what they can do with this IP with 2020s technology and storytelling techniques.

Metroid Prime 4 - I uh don't need to explain this one

Pokemon Legends - Arceus was the most fun I've had with a Pokemon game for a long time, some deeper mechanics and a more fleshed out story would be a treat

Wario Land - I may be forgetting something obscure, but I'm pretty sure this is the only Ninty series I particularly like that hasn't been represented on Switch (not counting NSO)

2D Zelda - it's been too damn long, a new game would be preferred but I'll be more than happy with an Oracles remake

Honourable totally unrealistic mention
Rayman 4 - Soliani as director, score by Kirkhope. Stop making Murfy a liar dammit!

I don’t think I quite made the connection of how cool a new Legends game would be on Switch 2. The first one got me back into the Pokemon games after not really playing/finishing one since Silver. I imagine it would be cross gen if it happens in 2025, so it would probably run extra smooth on Switch 2.

Our first two weeks of this thread have flown by and while we of course can’t rule anything out as Nintendo has a regular degree of unpredictability in their actions, after this week of speculation it seems we are getting a clearer consensus on when to expect the next Nintendo Direct! Before this week’s discussion question, the only greater thread business I want to touch on is we did have a fun new poll this past week. It will close somewhere on Friday night or on Saturday and be replaced with a new poll given it was tied to this week specifically. While inspiration may strike, I’ll just say if you have suggestions for fun polls that can garner 300+ votes by all means share them in thread. I do read every post here even when it gets wild :) Onto this week’s question then!

Week 3 - What four games would you like to see most in Year 1 for Switch 2 and why? You can pick either realistic or dream guesses.

For my own answer, a new 3D Mario and Metroid Prime 4 are definitely my top two. It’s been far too long since Odyssey and certainly too long since Prime 3 so I really want these two games to be there ideally at launch. I’d also like to a see a Definitive Edition of Xenoblade Chronicles X on Switch 2 in year 1 that adds a significant amount of new story and perhaps a new area to explore somehow. With the trilogy done, I really want to get back to Mira and open world Xenoblade and I think a Definitive Edition done right would really be a showpiece for the system. For my fourth and final pick, I’m going to pick a new Advance Wars game. It won’t be a graphical showcase I imagine, but it’s something that done right I’d be playing for years to come.
1) Metroid Prime 4

We all know why. The waiting hurts.

2) 3D Mario

We are waiting for almost seven years for a new 3D Mario. I would love a new adventure like Odyssey or Galaxy 2.

3) Eternal Darkness Remake

I think a new game is asking too much, but we need more Lovecraftian games. Plus, I really think that the concept of Eternal Darkness can stil be fun. Imagine Switch 2 getting a “The system can’t connect to the TV anymore. Please contact Nintendo support to solve this problem” message, only to flash back to the game, with Alex saying “This… isn’t… HAPPENING”

4) Handheld games getting remakes; Luigi’s Mansion 2 is getting one, but what about one of the Wario Land games? That would be neat to see.

4 dream "never gonna happen games" for the first year of Switch 2

Golden Sun 4 - A title that continues from Dark Dawn's cliff hanger.

Layton vs Ace Attorney 2 - No magic or witch trials, just a story of Layton and Phoenix solving irl mysteries.

Marvel Vs Capcom 4 - Return to 3v3, a well done story mode, and a great base roster of 54 characters at launch.

New Pokemon Stadium - A battle sim that has every Pokemon and mechanic from gens 1-9, the ability to do 2-4 players locally, and a full diet Mario Party mode with tons of minigames and a few boards to connect the minigames.

And here are 4 realistic games for Switch 2's first year. Most of these I've talked about before

Super Mario 3D Open World- Something like the Sunshine mod Sunburn. Let Mario explore and platform everywhere, looking for stars and fighting Bowser's minions.

Mario Kart Nintendo All Stars - A Mario Kart game with a larger amount of Nintendo cross over ip and tracks inspired by it. 12 new Mario tracks, 12 retros, 12 Nintendo themed (new and old mixed in).

Zelda Multiplayer - I realistically think this could be a nso title, and it may come to Switch 1 instead. However if we're dreamin let's get a switch 2 exclusive 3D multiplayer Zelda. I'd prefer 4SA style structure to TH, but whatever gets me online multiplayer Zelda on a console.

Ace Attorney 7 - I believe the capcom giga leak, I believe in the fact Capcom confirmed new art for beating AA4-6 in the collection, I believe they made that specific collection for a reason.

1. Metroid Prime 4 - I NEED IT.

2. Chrono Trigger HD-2D - The GOAT rpg only needs a face-lift. Please bless my Switch 2 with its perfection.

3. Xenoblade Chronicles X DE - I just really want to experience this awesome game again, but with some sweet quality of life improvements and hopefully new story content.

4. New 3D Mario - Few things in life bring me as much pure joy as a new 3D Mario. I could really use that in my life again right now, haha.

New 3D Mario - I'm kind of torn on what direction I'd like this one to head in. If they want to evolve the series, I think their best move would be to create an open-world game that expands upon concepts from Odyssey and Bowser's Fury. However, I think we're also due for a new game in the Galaxy/3D World style of design. I feel like they might do both during the Switch 2's life, given how well 3D World and Odyssey compliment each other on Switch.

Nintendo Switch Sports Resort - Essentially a 4K remake of Wii Sports Resort that doubles as the successor to Nintendo Switch Sports. Add in a few new sports that take advantage of whatever new features the Switch 2 has, and turn Wuhu Island into a free-roam open hub. I wouldn't mind if they experimented with allowing for button or touch controls to make at least some of the game playable in handheld mode, as long as motion is still the core focus.

Metroid Prime 4 - I've been playing through Metroid Prime 1 for the first time with Remastered and it's quickly becoming one of my favorite games of all time. Having Prime 4 in the first year would be a huge win.

Flipnote Studio - I've wanted a revival of Flipnote ever since that April Fool's leak from 2020. I think a comeback in year one of the Switch 2 would be a good way to grow a sense of community on the new system, as people share their animations online.

3 - Nintendo land Reborn: Nintendo land remake + new mini games every year, all included on NSO expansion pack.

4- Pokémon Colosseum Remake: the GC game now with pokken artstyle and graphics

Bonus: Tank! Tank! Tank! 2! 2! 2!

I haven't given any specific expectations for the Direct Mini, so here goes.

  • I expect it to be more or less like the past two Directs, especially September's.
  • We'll get more info on what was already announced, with Paper Mario being the standout among this particular lineup.
  • In terms of new stuff, I expect to see more remakes/remasters. The ones I'm really gunning for are the long rumored F-Zero GX port and the Fire Emblem 4 remake, as well as a remaster of Kid Icarus Uprising (pleasepleasepleasepleasepleeeeeeaaaaasssssseeeeee)
  • I also expect there to be another Mario announcement, a new entry in the baseball series, as was also rumored sometime last year, for a June release.
  • We'll finally see more of Splatoon 3's Side Order DLC, with a segment of the Direct dedicated to it. And we may see Marina in all of her glory 🤤
  • Third-party support will be slim pickings, but should be noteworthy in some respects. For example, we should be getting an extended look at at least one of Level-5's upcoming games, like Professor Layton. There'll also be the usual ports from the usual publishers. (Xenosaga plz).
  • Lastly, I think the Direct will end on the long-awaited re-reveal of Metroid Prime 4 (I'm serious) for a September release with a shadow-drop of Prime 2 and 3 (I'm also serious).
I know this is boring and not all that unique of a prediction, but we're reaching the Switch's twilight years, so something like this feels more appropriate, imo.

If we're talking Switch 2 launch year games:
  1. 3D Open-world Mario. It'll be 7 years since Odyssey came out, it's time.
  2. Kirby Warriors. It'll be a nice break from the relatively more grounded Hyrule and Fire Emblem Warriors. The franchise also lends itself well to the Warriors format.
  3. Monolith Soft Action Game. I want it to be more distinct from what they've been known for for the past decade in both gameplay and aesthetic and really take advantage of the new hardware.
  4. Astral Chain 2. It'll have been 5 years since the first game and I'd say its sales warrant a sequel. Also, Platinum, please make it 60fps, this time.
Metroid Prime is a no-brainer, even if it'll very likely be cross-gen, so I didn't put it there. Now for some honorable mentions.
  • Golden Sun 4. Camelot have fulfilled their Mario Sports quota for the Switch and I doubt there's any need to make more for the Switch 2. (I say as I huff military grade copium) Now's the time!
  • Fire Emblem 19. The Genealogy remake should be labeled as the 18th title, like the other remakes. I'm not sure when this would even come out, but I at least expect it to be announced during the series' 35th anniversary next year.
  • Xenoblade Chronicles X: Definitive Edition. I understand that the Wii U Gamepad is integral to many of the game's features and online is etched into it's identity, but I believe that Monolith Soft can make it work.
  • Smash. It's happening. With or without Sakurai.
  • Donkey Kong. It's been rumored for three years and their hasn't been a new original game in a decade......

Alright guys it’s me oppiZ, the totally new leaker, here to lay down some leaks straight on y’all
  • Direct starts out with Princess Peach showtime trailer, reveals cowboy Peach and astronaut Peach. More in depth look at the gameplay is also shown, with the gameplay looking… decently shallow, to the chagrin of famiboards
  • Afterwards, the next major announcement is DLC for Mario Wonder AND Pikmin 4. Wonder gets a new mode, Wario Wonder, which features the big guy alongside his companions Waluigi and Captain Syrup in remixed worlds from the base game. The trio plays with some mechanics pulled from Wario land, similar to how Yoshi plays with some mechanics from Yoshi’s island. Pikmin 4 gets multiplayer announced, alongside a new challenge mode and the return of bingo battle. Both the DLC’s launch 2 weeks after the presentation
  • Rhythm Heaven Melody Mayhem is then announced, being a traditional rhythm heaven game with just one major twist. Players can make their own levels! That’s right, the new rhythm heaven features a music maker, where players around the world can make and share mini games/remixes. You can animate and make music for your games, although Nintendo does graciously supply some pre included materials for players to work with. Beyond the new creation features this is just another rhythm heaven though, slated to release May 14th
  • NSO expansion pass update comes next, with updated roadmaps for GB, GBA, and N64. Game boy has Mario land, Kid Icarus of Myths and Monsters, game and watch gallery 1, and the surprise announcement of Pokémon red blue and yellow (I prophesies this one was hard to pull off). Game boy advanced gets the sonic advanced trilogy, Metroid zero mission, Warioware twisted, and Kirby’s nightmare in dreamland. N64 gets Banjo tooie, DK64, Diddy Kong racing, Smash 64, and a brand new localization of animal forest.
  • Mario Vs DK trailer, more new footage and some surprisingly good music, not much new we haven’t seen yet though
  • The final couple of announcements are coming up starting with the TTYD remake getting its first major trailer, detailing a new epilogue campaign, QOL improvements, and online features. They also specifically mention how the gameplay is a return to the roots of the series, which my minds eye tells me is sure to spark endless debate
  • Second to last announcement: Metroid prime 2 remastered. Looks better then what that fake leaker Jeff Snub had people believe, but definitely not as good looking as Prime 1 remastered. Shadow drops after the presentation with a physical version releasing at a later date
  • Now for the final announcement, one that you will see nobody but I predict, Metroid prime 4. The game looks visually beautiful (maybe even TOO beautiful for switch, first look at switch 2 perhaps? I’ll get back when my chakras align on that one). Controls taken directly from prime remastered, and a new planet lush with unique environments is shown in the trailer, accompanied by some wicked tunes. Release date set for 2025
So don’t bother checking my track record or anything, just get hyped over these amazing announcements I totally saw

What's a completely possible direct outcome that's still filled with personal wishes? (again, your wishes need to be within realm of possibility).
For me it's:
1st party:
  • new starfox or f-zero - I'm keeping it real, we are not getting both
  • new nintendogs or new rhythm heaven - same logic as above
  • new dk/3d mario
  • oracle of seasons/ages remake à la link's awakening remaster
3rd party:
  • MGRR
  • pizza tower
  • persona 3/4/5 dancing

What four games would you like to see most in Year 1 for Switch 2 and why? You can pick either realistic or dream guesses.

1. Fire Emblem Genealogy Remake - This is the game I'm probably most excited about seeing. I really want to experience it with modern bells and whistles, so I can't wait for it to be officially announced and release hopefully this year! (May is my personal bet and hope, but any time between May and July would make sense.) (This will come to Switch 2 due to Backwards Compatibility.)

2. Fire Emblem Genealogy Warriors - I think this will release Q2 or Q3 2025. Three Hopes was very successful for what it was, and I think IntSys will want to repeat that "what if" style of storytelling with Warriors games going forward. And I can't think of a single better story to do that with than Genealogy. You've got incredibly powerful Holy Blood, massive armies, and some very interesting branching-off points. The scenarios write themselves! (Of course, I want FEW 2, but I think that'll be a 2027 "ten-year anniversary" release game.) (Like FEW 1, this will be Fire Emblem's official first debut on the new hardware.

3. Custom Robo - This was one of my favorite GameCube games, alongside Paper Mario TTYD, Pokémon Colosseum and Gacha Force. If Custom Robo got a remake or new game for the Switch 2, I might legitimately cry.

4. Pokémon Legends. Legends Arceus was too big of a success to not try to repeat, and I think whatever the sequel looks like not coming to the Switch 2 would be a massive mistake.

Runner-Ups
- Fire Emblem Thracia 776 Remake. I think a remake of this game could be a really cool DLC for Genealogy Remake. You've got a nice side-story fleshing out a major character, built-in cool DLC characters to come to the main game, and maybe even some completion bonuses or something like that. My biggest concern is when this would come out. I can't see this coming out the same year as a Genealogy Warriors game, but I can't see it coming out afterwards if it's going to be DLC. I'm torn...but I'm also not going to put too much thought into it either.

- Metaphor Re:Fantazio. I'm very curious about this game and who similar and different it'll be to modern Persona games. Will I like it if Persona 5 is one of my favorite games in the past 5-6 years and I adore watching Persona 4 LPs? (And the Persona 4 anime?) Will it appeal to me because I'm a fantasy fan? IDK, but I'm curious to try it out! ...although I'll still probably just buy the game on PS5. It feels weird to buy Atlus games of the Switch; I just like them on the Switch for my friends who don't have other systems though.

Four games I'd like to see in Year 1 of the Switch 2 :

- Monolith Soft new game
I hope this will still be an open world / open zones full of secrets to explore and won't change the formula too much, combat wise ; I mean as long as it is still real time and don't feature limited use actions (like in Baten Kaitos or Sticker Star / Color Splash). Make it a science fiction or keep the medieval setting, but at least make it fun to play. Keep what works in the previous Xeno games.

- Gunlord 2
I used to really dislike Gunlord because of a lot of issues (screencrunch because of 4/3 and the placement of the camera, ennemies respawn when you die, secrets that tend to punish you instead of rewarding you) and I was so happy not only to see the game ported on the Switch & PS4 as Gunlord X, but also got improved everything I criticised ^^. Two years ago, NG-DEV Team announced a new physical Collector Edition of Gunlord X on Switch (which I got) to fund Gunlord 2, a 32-bits pixel art heavily inspired by Turrican (just like the first). Don't know if it will release this year but I hope !

- Metroid Prime 4
I said that "Yeah, I don't think this is gonna be a cross gen game since we saw nothing at all" but after reading your posts, I might be wrong ! It still counts as a Switch 2 Year 1 game ^^. Just like the new Monolith Soft game, I hope it doesn't change too much the formula but still surprises me. Also I want to hear the main theme and the credits theme.

- Visions of Mana
Still rewatching the reveal trailer from time to time because I'm still have a hard time believing it's real (same happened with the Turrican Anthology reveal ^^). A return to a real Action-RPG Seiken Densetsu, not Legend of Mana that never explain anything correctly or at all and is quite frankly hard to follow, Children of Mana the Dungeon Crawler that forces you to use ONE weapon for the whole dungeon and ONE magic element, Heroes of Mana the T-RPG (I don't like T-RPGs), a mobile game, a mobile remake of Secret of Mana that got an incredible lazy port on PS4 & Steam and a mostly ok 1:1 remake of GB Mystic Quest on Vita & mobile. Mana is back, baby.

Anyone else got that "This is what 2024 is gonna be like on Switch!"-Mail today?
Weird how it includes the new Layton game with 2025.

Decapolice also isn't on there, but that's because it's multiplatform I guess?

my direct predictions:
  • new donkey kong
  • prime 2&3 remastered
  • tp/ww hd
  • NSO update - everything you want roadmap
  • metroid prime 4
  • nintendo switch 2
  • fire emblem 4 remake
  • luigi’s mansion rt edition

if this doesn’t happen, exactly how i predict, im done with nintendo forever

Guess it’s time for you to move on from nintendo.

If there's no Terranigma or Collection of Gaia or any of the Soul Blazer / Illusion of Gaia / Terranigma, then the Switch 2 will have 4 GB of RAM and will use the cancelled Xbox One Always connected DRM.

That will teach them.

Not to say there won’t be cool things as I’m feeling strong on Donkey Kong for example, but I feel like this is going to be a fairly modest Direct in some regards and we’ve collectively been having generally solid guesses / reasonable expectations for it, but there’s inevitably going to be one or two left field things and that’s the part that is so incredibly hard to predict with a solid degree of confidence. Like I’m guessing Tomodachi as one of those games and I have reasons why I feel it is at least feasible (casual game, will do well in the cross gen period, it probably doesn’t demand a big team, etc.), but am I confident in it being there? Not terribly so! It’s definitely a guess!

With no big rumors yet, I’m really wondering what new games / experiences we’ll be walking away with.

I just want the Switch 2 to be revealed asap so I can see whether multiplatform games that got announced in the past ~6 months, like Visions of Mana and Hotel Barcelona, that aren't getting releases on Switch will land on the successor instead.

Pretty much convinced they will, but I'd like to see it confirmed.

This is me, too. Beyond specs (which I barely understand because I'm a good ol' dum-dum when it comes to technology) and first party titles (which I'm fairly confident will be mostly excellent) I want to know what was the takeaway that the different third party companies got from the Switch's astronomical success.

Which ones have multiple Switch 2 titles greenlit and are simply waiting for it to be announced to start firing on all cylinders? Which ones are in "wait and see" mode? That's the one thing that peaks my curiosity about the Switch successor these days.

I'm not expecting anything more than Fire Emblem 4 and Metroid Prime 4* in addition to the games already announced.

*Or new Donkey Kong. I'm fine with both, but I'm more interested in Metroid Prime 4 because it's a game which is already been promised for Switch. Donkey Kong will be a new announcement that can accompany the Switch 2, cross-gen or not. I hope we will have some rumors from Nate or others next weeks about Nintendo Direct.

I dunno how confident I am in new Donkey Kong as a game. I guess I'm just not the biggest fan of the franchise and I mainly love Retro games, but with them being busy I'm not sure anyone can replicate what Tropical Freeze did.
The magic of modern Country games is almost antithetical in what a platrormer should do, but they really make their levels feel like places, relying a lot on things making sense. There are no floating platforms that aren't explained, nothing just appears out of nowhere. Combine that with the spectacle of later levels which greatly helps gameplay feel frantic and even more tense.
As long as I'm just gushing, I'd like to add that Tropical Freeze went wild with its level themes, in particular last worlds of which penultimate follows a fruit factory, and the last riffing on Returns' world themes with many callbacks to that game really making you feel like you're occupuing the same space, just a few 2D layers away from the levels you've played before.

I'm sure others can make a great DK game, but the question here is, will it be great for me? And that's what I'm worried about.

If I can get Dragon Quest III HD-2D at this Direct I won't ask for anything else for the rest of the year.

This feels like a Direct with movie and theme park stuff, padding it out with the console reveal on the horizon. That Donkey Kong movie and maybe a poster that shows us nothing for Zelda revealed. Japan & USA parks expansions. Possibly a Paris park? Drop that stuff now so it can be a story with the new console able to take up the rest of the year’s oxygen.

I have a good felling that SE will eventually re-visit Enix properties, after ignoring them for years. Not only Quintet stuff, but also Produce and Givro stuff too. Soul Blazer trilogy should be on top of the list of games to be re-released, which also should include Givro's EVO and Wonder Project (this was such an interesting title and magazines teased a localization that never came) and Produce's often overlooked Mystic Ark 1-2, The 7th Saga and Brain Lord should follow that. Personally I want Soul Blazer re-release the most and once promised Mystic Ark second.

Let's not forget Mischief Makers is another Enix name Square today chooses to ignore. That was peak Treasure greatness yet it never re-released anywhere. Maybe Limited Run take a look at it after Gex?
