I'd wager it has at least been in their minds for almost a decade now, given that FE15 / the FE2 remake started development in 2015. The main reason I say this is that they gave the FE2 remake the title Fire Emblem Echoes: Shadows of Valentia rather than just Fire Emblem: Shadows of Valentia. I cannot fathom they'd come up with a unique subtitle for Fire Emblem remakes only for them to do a single release under that branding.
While they may have initially planned for "Echoes" to be a remake subseries, I feel like at this point "Echoes" has become too associated with Shadows of Valentia specifically, even to the point that Celica is called "Emblem of Echoes" in Engage.

Honestly, I kinda think the FE4 remake is just gonna be called "Fire Emblem: Genealogy of the Holy War". It would better help Nintendo market it as a brand new game and the next "big" FE after Three Houses without attaching it to a specific subseries. Wikipedia will have (2024 video game) or something like that listed after the title lol.

There's certainly info about the game out there (I have a fair bit). But timing is another matter.

As a Nintendo Shareholder, I think this game MUST take on the role of dual-gen release. The switch 2 must sell all it can as quickly as it can and Metroid prime 4 as a showpiece launch title for Switch 2 would help that objective. If it takes on this role, I'm not sure we see it until Switch 2 is ready to be revealed.

I stand corrected then! This is very interesting.

And yeah, I suppose so. Regardless when it'll appear, it's something to look forward to after many years of development. It's all part of the process!

The one thing I really wanna see (that I dont think we'll get tomorrow) is Dragon Quest 3's remake. Monsters 3 is coming out soon and I totally expect it to have the DQ spotlight until release. I'm excited for that too but I'm really starving for some DQ3r info.

Maybe Fantasian will show up, if that sketchy looking steamdb page was legit after all. And maybe this time I'll get to finish part 2 without renewing my apple arcade subscription.

Must… resist… urge… to ask… Nate… for extremely… cryptic… Prime 4… info…

GAAAHHH!!! Why can’t we be blessed with this knowledge!?

OK guys, I wanna spread some positivity here. Metroid Prime 4 remains a possibility I think, a reminder:

Nate said that Nintendo targets a release window of H1, 2024. And, that it would be the opportune time to announce it - IF - nothing has changed.

This would make sense taking an early release of the new hardware into consideration, as well as it being one of, if not THE last major Nintendo title(s) for Switch. Time is running out after all.

Honestly, if Prime 4 is a cross-gen title, I really think they save its full-on reveal for a Switch 2 showcase in January. I actually think it will feel less next-gen to consumers if it’s revealed in the final Switch-only direct. Save it for January alongside the next 3D Mario game, Mario Kart 9, Monolith Soft’s rumored action game, and a new DK title.

Yall I am not kidding

I went to youtube to set a notification for the Direct. Searched "Nintendo," and I swear this was the ad that was immediately on top of the page:

YLWroH1.webp
Okay, but what is the ad? It’s clearly a 30 second video; does it just show Tropical Freeze, or what?

God, in almost 12 hours I'll be seeing news about some kind of new game in a series I've literally waited 20 years to hear news about. Regardless of how good this Direct will be, that's surreal.
