Current belief is that Metroid Prime 4 releases Spring/Summer 2024, but is still highlighted as one of the games that will see a major graphical boost on the successor whenever the blowout presentation happens.

I don't think we should take 2020 as an indicator about what they could announce and what not.

The year was clearly in chaos thanks to Covid.

I am thinking we get Fire Emblem remake news for early 2024 as I think that this years games are pretty much announced (maybe a smaller surprise game for December).

Furthermore other franchises that could get a spot are Donkey Kong, Metroid, Mario Party I guess. Maybe a Xenoblade X port for '24 and perhaps more Xeno goodness? Wonder what the potential GC remaster is going to be. Metroid Prime 2 and 3? F-Zero? Mario Party? Pokémon? Fire Emblem? Warriors?

Though I would think Path of Radiance needs a bit more than a simple up-ress.

Incorrect. Age of Calamity was first shown in September 2020, and was the big holiday title.

I am firmly confident that we'll get a big showing from Kirby in this coming Direct.
Sorry, I don’t count anything from Covid year. Stuff was cancelled and rearranged all over the place.

No big Kirby game will come this year. Something smaller can come, but not a new 2D or 3D Kirby.

Kirby already had a release this year, I don't really see a point in stuffing the channels unless they broke off one of the Merry Magoland minigames and expanded it for a downloadable title.

I don't see a world where a new Kirby would be announced in the Direct. If HAL has to show something then it's a new part-time UFO or something like that.

So what's all this about a big new Kirby game rumoured for the coming direct? Would make sense for it to be the big Christmas title.
There is no Kirby game.

Edit: I'm pretty sure this is the account that keeps insisting that there's a rumored Kirby game, but never sources it. I don't know if this is some weird troll or what.

Kirby : gets multiple games this generation and people asking for more
meanwhile starfox and fzero fans: no games out for ages and getting scraps of little leaks here and there about possible future games and remasters

People: "Awwwwwww 😍 he's so adorable 😍😍 lemme hug you 😍😍😍"

Kirby: "FREE FOOD 🤪"

See, this is why you're not supposed to wear red t-shirts with a "M" written on it.

Even Star Trek warned people about this. Red always means you're either the Captain, or dead after the next planetary mission.

We already got our obligatory yearly Kirby game this year in the Return to Dream Land remake. If we get another before the year closes out for whatever reason, it'll probably just be a smaller digital title like Super Kirby Clash or Dream Buffet. I'm not sure if we'll see anything from Nintendo for a December release outside DLC (Wave 6 for MK8D, maybe Side Order for Splatoon 3) anyway.

There is no rumor for any Kirby game right now, but it is fair to speculate about regardless as end of life Nintendo platforms typically do see Kirby releases.

Kirby is an annual IP, there always be a Kirby game to be release soon.

This year is was Adventure Wii Remake.

Who knows whats happening in 2024, Air Ride remaster? A new spin-off?

It looks like it might be word for word what they were posting in at least one other Direct thread this year which they then got threadbanned from, if I remember rightly.

So, any news about when the Direct is dropping? Early September?
People have been pretty much split between next week and the week of TGS. I used to be in the latter camp, but since it seems that the press and influencers got significant hands-on time with Super Mario Bros. Wonder behind closed doors recently, next week has started to seem more and more likely.

Well, you must have missed the warning they put on the Star Fox game boxes: "Warning! Don't be a fan of this series. You'll only hurt yourself!"

It used to be. Now that Vanpool, HAL assist studio and maker of small Kirby games, is gone, no one knows for sure.

But I can guess HAL's next game is to be Forgotten Land 2 for Switch 2 launch window. I wouldn't be surprised if HAL itself does nothing but 3D Kirby from now on.

Assuming the 'second half 2024' is accurate as the hardware launch period, I would guess at a timeline something like this:

  • next Nintendo Direct is September 6th at the earliest, September 20th at the latest: focuses on Switch games launching October 2023 through March 2024
  • Nintendo Direct in February 2024 is still Switch-only; announces and focuses on Switch titles launching through summer 2024
  • Nintendo confirm new hardware ahead of their fiscal year results in early May 2024, potentially through a reveal video like the og Switch reveal; they include the system in their fiscal year forecast for the 24/25 year and announce more details coming soon
  • Nintendo Direct in June 2024, ahead of Nintendo's 84th AGM, exclusively concentrates on software for the new console; launch date and price confirmed
  • Nintendo Direct Mini in July 2024 for Switch 1 titles
  • hardware launches in September or October; September Direct is for both systems but the bulk of first-party news relates to new hardware
This is exactly what's going to happen I feel. Next year is so exciting.

But first, I need to see more Wonder. And maybe a little Prime 4...

While I would be beside myself if we got FE remake news next month, it also wouldn't surprise me if we got news of it in February for a May release.

If it's neither next month nor February, then the leaks either weren't real on that front or (less likely) it's being saved for Switch 2

The N64 ones are on NSO tho so if you want those they're right there! You just gotta get over that big language barrier
Yeah but I also think it'd be neat for them to eventually follow up the games in some fashion. A remake collection of the first two would expose more people to them.

I also think that the N64 entries feel better to play but don't let GC fans see this

Anything that happened during peak of COVID times shouldn't be taken seriously (as in pattern wise and stuff like that) or be expected to be repeated.

Miyamoto is gonna have a 5-minute long segment talking about how he loves to build toy models of mechs. It ends with a logo for Custom Robo. Coming 2024.
They should make a remake collection of the first two like they did for Advance Wars.
New CR, remakes of old CR, I am in favour of any and all Custom Robo getting the Switch boost magic that would propel it to mainstream success and a new entry per console generation
