Xenoblade is too niche to really support a warriors title, Fire Emblem is just on the cusp imo
When Fire Emblem Warriors was greenlit, FE was just as niche as Xenoblade is today. The Warriors titles aren't meant to sell gangbusters, with both the FEW ganes being around a million and that already being more than enough to Nintendo and KT to be happy and greenlight sequels for them.

I think Xenoblade is the next franchise to get a Warriors spin off. If anything because it's popular enough in its niche, has plenty of characters to allow for an amazing roster and is story heavy enough to allow for either a non-canon Sequel/side story or a prequel ala AoC.

Also Nintendo probably wants to grow this franchise(and they did it successfully on the Switch), and XBC4 is probably years away. What better than Xenoblade Warriors?

Well, I could be wrong and they come with Kirby Warriors, Super Mario Warriors, Star Fox Warriors, ARMS beat em up(which is so good of an idea it'll never happen) by KT or the inevitable Hyrule Warriors based off TotK before.
aw fuck it, the new Castlvanina will be announced here
It's about time, right?!
The franchise has seen an amazing grow in popularity with the anime and there's a new anime coming in months. Would be the ideal time for a reveal imo.

Btw, on third party titles... That Capcom game that'll sell millions by the end of the FY... What the hell could that be??
Maybe it's finally time for Resident Evil Switch? Maybe the next Monster Hunter is build of Rise and/or World and comes earlier than expected?

We know RE9 probably won't be it, so what else could be in the table??

MHR was announced in a September Direct btw 👀

Just thinking in terms of DLC announcements...

  • MK8D Wave 6 will be here 100%
  • Pokemon ScVi DLC probably won't be here given how recent we've seen it
  • Mario + Rabbids 2's DLC is done end of this month
  • Side Order has to be either here or in the February Direct
  • this feels like the last chance for Zelda and Pikmin to announce DLC plans

F-Zero GX for $40 like Metroid Prime Remastered and I would buy instantly. I have such great memories of this game and it was my first game on GameCube.

Does it strike anyone else as strange that we have SO many games coming from the Super Mario universe? (By Super Mario universe, I’m talking about spin-off series and characters too.)

We have:
Super Mario Bros. Wonder
Super Mario RPG
Princess Peach will star as the main character in a brand new game
Luigi’s Mansion: Dark Moon remaster
WarioWare: Move It
Mariokart 8 BCP Wave 6
(not to mention the Donkey Kong game that’s apparently in development. Yes, I know DK came before Mario, but it’s still a shared universe.)

That’s five officially confirmed games and one DLC, which seems like a ton, especially when we don’t officially know all that much else about other series’ futures. By the way, I realize that this definition of “Super Mario universe” is pretty broad and includes a variety of different genres (2D platformer, racing, microgames, RPG, etc.) but I still thought it was interesting.

I hope Princess Peach will star as the main character in a brand new game is the actual title.

PPWSATMCIABNG for short.

I'm not really surprised after the movie. I figured Nintendo would go for broke with Mario projects around the time that movie came out. If anything at all is striking me odd it's how much later they're landing than the movie, though Nintendo doesn't like to box themselves in with timeframes and it makes sense to have the Mario movie dominate H1 while having the games dominate H2. So.. yeah, circling back around to not strange at all.

Xenoblade Warriors would probably sell pretty well if Pyra and Mythra were a heavily marketed part of it, take that as positively or negatively as you will.

If Fire Emblem can get two Warriors game, why not Xenoblade. I don't really see it as any more obscure. If it's popular enough for two Smash fighters, it's good enough for a Musou.

It wouldn't be my first choice (that'd probably be a Mario themed one) but it'd be rad.

After seeing the movie, I'd love to see Princess Peach knocking out hordes of enemies with her halberd.

there'd be a lot of potential with the different powerups throughout the history of the series, also lots of chracters to pull from. Could even bring back the likes of Wart 👀

I don't think they have a better closer for this Direct than Metroid Prime 4. It doesn't have to come early 2024 for it since Bayonetta 3 was the closer of September 2021 and released in October 2022.

Also tbh I don't really believe in Prime 2 coming this year... I believe they did this amazing work with the first Metroid Prime because they wanted to get everyone ready for MP4 with it, not for the rest of the trilogy. I also assume MP4 can be somewhat of a soft reboot like Pikmin 4 but no matter what it won't require you to have played the trilogy and will have an interesting story by its own.

I don't see why they'd release 3 Metroid games in a span of 12 months instead of holding on them for otherwise Metroid-less years. After MP4, MP5 will likely not come until 2028 at the earliest, with Metroid 6 being 2025 or 2026 probably. There's plenty of time to release Prime 2 and Prime 3 remasters and make them a big deal by their own just like Zelda remasters, instead of burning the whole franchise before MP4.

Anyways I'll contradict everything I've just said and call a Samus Returns shadowdrop or release in December let's goooooooo
the Metroid Prime subseries unlike Pikimin, follow closely the Metroid timeline(it set between Metroid 1 e 2), with the end of Metroid Prime 4 possibly setting the events of Metroid 2

Monster Hunter 6? 2024 is the franchise 20th anniversary
Whatever it is, it's gonna be announced veeery soon, either on Gamescom ONL or September Direct. Capcom has never revealed anything on Geoff's shows so if it's ONL, it's gonna be a first ( I don't think it will)

Aww yeah, best thread is back!

My (1st party) predictions:

(Opening reveal) New 2d Zelda (or Oracle remakes) by Grezzo - Spring 2024
(Middle reveal) Fire Emblem: Genealogy of the Holy War remake - Q1 2024 (I'm guessing February)
F-Zero GX port shadowdrop
Mario Kart 8 Deluxe DLC Wave 6 - October 2023
Peach game new trailer - releasing March 2024
Super Mario Wonder new trailer
(Closing reveal) Metroid Prime 4 gameplay trailer - Spring 2024

How much Level 5 do we expect to get? DECAPOLICE still needs a release date if it's still due for this year or pushed into early next, as does Fantasy Life i: The Girl Who Steals Time. If those two show up again, might as well toss in that new Professor Layton.

Also, yeah, aren't we due for an Indie World this month? Next week, perhaps?

We don’t really have enough data to say either way about an Indie World or not. Last year we only had two Indie Worlds and we had one already this year. The release dates of games featured in Indie Worlds are trending farther outward so it’s possible we are switching from three to two to combat that, but it’s also too early to say for sure if that was just for last year.

Eager to see what next week brings. Following week is Gamescom so that’s probably out.

Level-5 currently has four games that were last seen in March and are supposed to release this year. Whether or not any of those release in the next five months aside, I would expect to see further updates on those before we see anything on Layton, which wasn't given a release window.

You indeed did:

Cacpom can also have unrealistic expectations sometimes.

I expect to be disappointed. A truly big game will have a longer marketing and hype cycle, as Sony, MS and even Nintendo would fight over who gets to reveal it to juice console sales.

I expect an unknown unannounced game releasing by Mar 2024 is probably not that calibre title

Both MH Rise and MH World were launched just 7 months after they were revealed.

If this super secret game is to be launched in March, Capcom should reveal it in September.

Megaman 11 also had 7 months between reveal and launch. A mainline MM game can't be a multi million seller, but a Battle Network game can. Some of the GBA entries sold more than 3m.

RE games usually 1 year between reveal and launch.

To offer the semi-useless speculation tip nobody else here can or will because I like to feel helpful even when I'm not-
  • The earliest a September Direct has ever been was 2019, because TGS got moved forwards to avoid clashing with the Rugby World Cup, which was in Japan that year.
  • Virtually everything scheduled in Japan that autumn moved in order to avoid clashing with any of the Japanese national team's games. The tournament was so big Japan's match against Scotland became the most watched TV broadcast in Japanese history. Japan won and it was utterly wonderful.
  • This year's World Cup (They're once every four years) is in France, so TGS has stayed in it's usual slot, but there's a very good chance they'd avoid any nights where Japan are playing, so as to not cannibalise the casual audience.
  • Their games are all on Saturdays or Sundays except for one v Samoa, on Thursday 28th September. Which is after TGS. So not likely anyway.
However, this could rule out a super-super early September Direct, as the only evidence for it happening in past was a Japanese pop culture anomaly.
