I used to complain about the driving in Sydney. Then I moved to America. It's much worse here!

The Zelda hype is building and I kind of feel like playing a 3D Zelda but I'm not sure if I should play one now to help satisfy the excitement or wait till later to ease the inevitable post-TotK depression.

Quick question, how many here intend to play Honkai Star Rail later this month? Anyone planning to make a ST for it? If not, I might do it if enough people are interested. (also do I need to make a request to createa ST or can I just do it, it will be my first time doing one so I'm not sure)

I've been wanting to do a play-through of Majora's Mask on NSO as it's the only 3D Zelda I've not played more than the opening hours of.

Not a huge fan of corecore aesthetic but this genuinely made me emotional lol

Just like YouTube Poop before it, corecore is essentially a fresh take on an old premise.
This explained the concept so fast my head spun. But also...it almost makes complete sense tracing its evolution, because this video absolutely achieved what it set out to do: evoke a powerful emotion.

So who's gonna be first in HW thread to pick out their new profile pic for Drake? 😋

I guess my Wolf Link Amiibo still only has 3 hearts on it even though I know I did the Cave of Ordeals like 6 years ago. No idea what happened to the hard drive my save was on so maybe I’ll just do it over on my brother’s save file on his Wii U. If I feel like it.

Word on the street is that there's a really good game adaptation you can see in theaters this week.

I'm talking about Dungeons and Dragons: Honor Among Thieves. Great movie, go see it.

That Stranger Things spinoff?
If that's what it takes to get people to go see it, we can go with that lol

Real talk, though: I was really impressed with how they made a movie that's accessible to people that are completely unfamiliar with the source material, while the movie also has a whole other layer to it for people who know their stuff. That's how you handle an adaptation.

I enjoyed it, I was a casual and I picked up tons of refs. Was a fun jaunt, and that graveyard scene was total DM trolling in the best way. Pudgy dragon was also hilarious

Still planning to go see the Mario movie with some family next week tho XD

The Mario Movie is fine and all and I have nothing against it or anything but I’m mostly looking forward to next week when we can talk about something else. I know it’s going to be the prime topic for most every video game media source this week and I’m just not that interested.

An underrated part of the weather being good enough to have the windows open is just the fact that you can hear people in the neighborhood just outside, talking to each other, enjoying the weather, deep into the night.

i can't believe no one else has acknowledged this lol—I'm starting to actually wonder if it is the latter

it didn't look like this yesterday, right?

I don't think we've changed anything recently aside from the April Fool's Day style. Is it possible you went from Dark mode V2 back to Dark Mode original?

Well, I’m finally on the final chapter of the Scarlet Blaze(save) FEWTH route… I may do the camp stuff and call it quits for today and wrap up tomorrow tho. Now who to give my merc whistle to… leaning Bernadetta or Monica

Question of the week

What was the first Mario game that you ever played?

This week we finally see the Mario film get a release! For the vast majority us, Mario has played some sort of a roll in our video game lives. Whether you have played one game or fifty, it is almost impossible to play video games for long enough and not run into Mario.

My answer: Super Mario Bros

World_1-1_Super_Mario_Bros.png

I have said it before, This is literally the first memory that I have in my life. I was two at best. I didn't know my numbers or the alphabet, but that blue screen burned a hole into my brain and it never left. This may not have been the game that hooked me for life, but it certainly started that path for me.

So what say you, Fami?
Super Mario World on the SNES, I remember getting about halfway through the game before spending the weekend at my grandparents and when I came back my save was near the end with most of the bonus world complete. Apparently my Mom tried out the game on a whim and got absorbed in it for the brief time I was away.

Since we're so close I'd recommend waiting.

I don't think that's it!! thank you for the response though lol—seeming like the odds are good that I've just fried my last few brain cells

This is great, thanks for sharing! Mine somewhat mirrors yours. It’s one of my earliest memories as well. I was maybe 3, and we went to my parents’ friends’ house to visit and catch sunnies in the creek that ran behind their house.
Up in their loft they had an NES hooked up to a “big screen” TV, and someone showed me Super Mario Bros. I fell in love. I can only assume I asked my parents for an NES, because the next Christmas, there was an NES under the tree. My dad hooked it up for me, I started to play Mario, and it seemed the same as the game I played up in the loft, but I couldn’t find the fire flower. I remember I started to cry. My dad picked up the controller, found the fire flower for me, and the rest is history. My patents would tape The Super Mario Bros. Super Show for me and I’d ask for the 1990 version of Kraft Super Mario Bros. Mac & Cheese at the grocery store. I’ve been a lifelong fan since!

(Seeing the new movie on Friday is going to feel like a dream come true. It’s been 3 decades since the last time I got to go to a theater and see a Mario movie!)

I’ve been playing MM3D. Might squeeze in another before release. I feel like BOTW/TOTK are so different from the earlier 3D Zeldas there isn’t much risk in burnout playing them back to back.

Having an old person moment here. Wife got invited to Bunco for the first time in her life. She has no idea what to do. Fellow olds, any experience here?

That snap noise when the Switch logo clicks at the start of Nintendo trailers is so freaking satisfying, it's like the video version of when you crack one of your joints and get that sweet release.

We have an ST claim thread in The Roost if you want to make it official. Instructions are in the first post. (it’s less intimidating than it looks)

I’m personally interested in the game from a distance since I liked the relatively little amount of Genshin Impact I played, but I barely know anything about Star Rail so I want to hear some impressions about it before I set out to download it.

Forget Mario. Forget Dungeons and Dragons. Forget Spooderman. This is the cinematic experience of the year.

I’m so so so happy to see Ryan Gosling in a movie in theaters, it’s been like four or five years, I think? Especially in a comedy, he’s usually really good at those.

You’re now 1 post away from 5000! Weird that like a few hours ago @Mr_No_U got 5000 posts in this thread too. Like 10 posts above.

This is sus
I feel like I owe you, this thread, and this page my 5,000th post after being called out like this lol. I knew it was soon, but I didn’t have any specific plans for it. First, I’m definitely in good company to be in with @Mr_No_U :) Second, how do you even follow up a post about the tweet of the year so far? Expectations are too high here lol.

Um, 5,000th post then. I’ve had an awesome time being on Famiboards these past 1.5 years. I especially enjoy hanging out with everyone in the General, Direct Speculation, Mario Kart, Anime, and of course RPG threads. Y’all are cool! Let’s keep the fun, cozy, welcoming spirit of Famiboards going. I’ll try my best to for my next 5,000 posts :)

Man, it's been a while since the whole fam went to a movie. I was with the two youngest and the Mrs. in Spider-Man, but our eldest hasn't been with us in movies for some time now.

They even get some fast-food today.

Huh. This is a Tweet.

That’s also somehow the real opening line of their Mario Movie review lol.

Dunno, i really don't care for the reviews in this case, but couldn't help myself to skim over the quotes on Rotten Tomatoes ... and some of those read like the person either went to watch it with their mind already made up or is being simply unnecessarily harsh.

The irony is, friend Werner Herzog would prolly like the Mario movie. He's down to nerd/fan stuff, he's also into Star Wars.

Also, if we're talking Ryan Gosling starring in a comedy movie, there's only one movie we can talk about: The Nice Guys 2.
I want it, the world wants it.

And he seems to like animated movies enough to make a cameo in one of them!
