Nah, it's too close to my weekend start to be dealing with the fallout here again.

Trying to write out thoughts without it sounding like a copypasta.

when people say "do you know Nintendo? they do whatever they want" when talking about utterly ridiculous premises, I kinda wonder what that's actually based on. Because aside from a couple of weird things (I don't mean game releases), Nintendo has operated pretty safely and predictably for the last 5 or so years.

Delaying the Direct because of the Queen was so obviously ridiculous but it was floated around like "oh well Nintendo's Gunna Nintendo". Just feels like a saying people throw around all the time now.

this isn't true though. if the coverage dominates it is pragmatic to delay a big marketing event like this

Yeah I have to admit I'm surprised at the proportion of people who seemed to take the idea of Nintendo delaying the Direct as "out of respect for the Queen" or "because of the Queen" versus "so they don't get drowned in the deluge of media coverage."

The idea was never that they'd do it out of respect. It was so they'd be the thing trending that day.

Some people would be surprised how much companies care about supposed trends, certain world events or even politics that don‘t affect their products in the slightest. It sometimes leads them to very paranoid internal decision making out of fear of bad feedback in media/at the stock market. It is especially glaring when other stuff they should actually care about gets only ignored. At least that was my experience when working together with medium to bigger clients in marketing.

I definitely believe we get one or the other. It’s just hard to tell. Nate thinks the DK game can be announced now or the next direct in 2023. A new Mario game is probably done or near done too. It’s really just what Nintendo’s plans are.

I imagine if they have a 2D DK and 2D Mario ready they’ll keep them pretty far apart.
if both are really ready to go, I presume one will be released early in the next fiscal year and one in the holiday season. can't say which one and when.

If 2023 has really in store FE, Botw2 and 2D Mario and DK is already a banger year. let's wait and see.

It's a pretty corrupt system if Sir Tophamm Hat gets to keep his job with the amount of catastrophic accidents that occur under his watch. Must have dirt on some people.
he was canonically good friends with william stanier of LMS

"raccoon why do you know thomas the train lore" don't ask questions you don't want the answer to

There are events that happen all over the world around every gaming event and it has not stopped anything. Remember 2016 when nearly 50 people died in a nightclub shooting in Orlando right before E3? People regard that E3 as one of the stronger ones.

I understand that but see my above reply. For as mainstream as gaming is, it still operates as if it's in its own bubble.

When people say "do you know cows? they do whatever they want" when talking about udderly ridiculous farm animals. I kinda wonder what that's actually based on. Because aside from a couple weird things (they make bad tools), cows have operated pretty safely and predictably for the last 1,000 or so years.

Eliminating cows because of the Queen was so obviously ridiculous but it was floated around like "oh well cows gonna cow". Just feels like a saying people throw around all the time now.

I mean, that's fair enough I suppose. And ostensibly that view has been vindicated

There's loads releasing this month: Ooblets, Potion Permit, Bear and Breakfast, Hokko Life, Disney Dreamlight Valley, Lemon Cake etc.
Potion Permit and Bear & Breakfast are on my radar! Need to investigate them more, they might be my winter relaxation games.

Weekend I have games to catch up on and relaxing. Monday short work day and announcement, then day off Tuesday. Sounds good. Dont wanna think about how busy the following weeks are for me Im just hyped for the direct.
