Tbh Grubb and especially Nate have more than proven their worth w/ Direct dates, there isn't really any reason to doubt we're getting one next week. The real issue as per usual is the specific branding of the Direct. I'm feeling pretty confident it's a general, though, Especially given how long it has been since the last one, plus the Zelda info from Grubb.
This. What ifs, concerning whether the Direct will be next week or after TGS, shouldn't realistically be entertained. It is almost as likely as it can be next week, without being confirmed by Nintendo.

Well, at least I have High School (unfortunately), Pac Man, Paper Mario 64, Cobra Kai, and Meta Runner to keep me busy until then...it's going to be a long 6-7 days

Here's the big thing though. If the Direct is on Tuesday, does Nintendo announce it tomorrow or on Monday? Friday isn't happening and Nintendo doesn't announce stuff on weekends.
Nintendo barely makes announcements for any of their events a few days prior and generally prefers making announcements 1-2 days before it happens. So generally, them spilling the beans would likely be on Monday.

This is a boring hypothetical. Let's do a more interesting one - what would you do if all turkeys suddenly became rabbits?

Likely Monday. They've announced other Directs on a Monday this year already (the XC3 Direct, the Partner in June, etc.)

I’m fine with the directs only “new” game announcements being remasters, because I’m still very excited to see more of announced games such as BotW2 and Bayonetta 3

Business wise, it makes much more sense to be all in on Splatoon 3 (since it launches this week), and then next week announce the direct the day before.

I agree, but I’ll be slightly disappointed if some of these “remasters” aren’t substantial visual updates. Sounds like MP1 will fit into that category at the very least.

We’ll get a Direct.

Just noticed the TGS is on the fifteenth. Preeeetty sure we’ll get one by Wednesday.

Patterns man

I think this properly summarizes this week in gaming:

Sony Fans: Fuck Phil Spencer for making CoD exclusive!
Xbox Fans: Fuck Jim Ryan for being entitled and expecting CoD to always be on PlayStation!
Nintendo Fans: splat splat splat splat splat

I’m a kid now I’m a squid now was RIGHT THERE

Welp I think the anesthesia is finally wearing off from my upper endoscopy today and I feel horrible. Recovery is combined with a non-COVID cold I got over the weekend consisting of shaking, chills, nausea, cough, and sore throat, so I'm really struggling right now. Thankfully I was able to take the day off from work - I just hope I feel better tomorrow in time for my birthday.

I wouldn't be expecting WW and TP if it wasn't for Grubb being so bullish on it which makes me think he has seen some definitive evidence that they are coming real soon. It seems to be the only thing we is absolutely certain on.
Yep - Grubb being 100% committed to this is the only reason I think they're coming. Personally I wonder if he's heard an imminent release date for them and so knows they have to be announced soon.

Many happy recoveries for your birthday.

Regarding time zones, if the Direct is announced Tuesday at 8am cst for the premiere on Wednesday at 5pm cst (like directs have been for years now unless it’s a Wednesday announce -> Thursday premiere year), would that be a conflict with the start of TGS?

Get well soon

The Call of Duty thread on Era is spicy. Here we are talking about what old ass Gamecube games could come to Switch when we could be arguing about which style of corporate money bagging is ethical.

This is probably nothing but it helps kill the time I guess since none of us actually play games.
Wouldn't this be happening way too late in a media production pipeline?

(EDIT: Link got messed up: pun intended)

The image of Mr. Aonuma appearing during direct with a pitch black background behind him probably has become a symbol of bad news for Zelda fans. I hope he appears with a colourful/rainbow background next time, cos that would probably means he comes to bring good news.

Nintendo fans, also: Hey Sony, Don't you dare take Asano from us! We love him and he loves us!

Grubb said those games were name dropped to him as being in this direct, so nothing really to do with release date just that they will be announced. However, I can’t imagine they would be too far off

Yup I finished both series over the course of two months (I'm completely new to the Buffyverse). By the final season of Angel I was in love with Fred/Illyria.
Yeah that turned out to be a very interesting character.

I do a Buffy rebinge once every few in years, it's still an incredible show.

I nearly fucked myself over cause I nearly fell for a bank phishing scam. Nearly fully logged into the scam link until I noticed at the last moment. Fuck my extreme stupid naivety sometimes.

Now I really hope more information about the direct leaks so I can cool down from how pissed I am.

Alright, I think I’m pretty much caught up, just to clarify and ask some questions:
-Prime Remaster is still on track to release before the year ends?
-No release window for WW & TP HD, but they’re coming soon?
-Why are people banking on the 13th for a Direct?

-It looks like Prime Remaster is the holiday game, so I'd say it's as likely as it can be for a 2022 release without being confirmed
-I think WW & TP have to be here soon, to fit the annual Zelda release pattern
-12th won't happen and 14th just seems too close to TGA, so 13th seems like the best option

So, the current Direct start time is, iirc, 3:00 PM Pacific Time, which is 7:00 AM in Tokyo. Tokyo Game Show starts at 10:00.

Now, technically they could totally do this, but it would be tight. Based on precedent, they could instead either:

  • do it the night of the 14th for Japan and the morning of the 14th for the US, the old timing for Directs
  • do it at the current time but a day before, being the morning of the 14th for Japan and the evening of the 13th for the US

Got it, I’ll be sure to hype responsibly then. While I would much rather have an upscaled Trilogy port, playing a remaster of one of my favorite games of all time before the year ends would be truly something! I don’t expect the Zelda titles to come this year, but if it happens it would be icing on the top!

That said, Tuesday would be a very interesting day for a Direct since Generals are usually on a Wednesday or Thursday (outside of E3). Hoping we’re blessed with one since they kinda skipped the summer.
