After the (lack of) gaming this year provided for me, I excitedly welcome the Old Shit™ Year with open arms.

Zelda segment at the end of next week's Direct CONFIRMED. Source: the guys carrying the black background requested by Aonuma.

I wish...but I hope you realize they JUST released a new kirby game....
They’ve released multiple Kirby games in a year before. If anything, 2021 was unusual in that they didn’t have a Kirby game at all. Maybe Forgotten Land was originally planned for 2021.

I don’t think a retail game in March or a small eShop spinoff game in August precludes a retail collection of retro titles in, like, December. Especially in an anniversary year. Those are all very different games.

So I just dropped some cash on a Nier Automata and advised a friend to get Triangle Strategy.

Square-Enix - I did my part, now you do yours.

Expecting nothing less than 2 announcements in the direct, I summoned them.

I'm expecting three re-releases to be announced at the Direct. The Zelda HD ports and Metroid Prime 1. That's it. There's no hard evidence to suggest that the remasters that insiders are talking about will even show up at this Direct.

Too bad content in upcoming directs very rarely ever get legitimately leaked :>
Why? I look at that as a good thing. The Direct is less than a week away. We’ve waited this long, now that it’s so close I don’t want to know anything more, just predictions

  • Zelda double pack
  • Prime Remastered
  • FE Toothpaste
  • BotW2
  • One smaller surprise

I think this is a pretty reasonable expectation for the Direct. No more ports/remasters announced until 2023.

It does seem like it might end up being…unusually remaster-heavy, though that’s perhaps understandable given covid and all.

I wouldn’t be surprised if it featured a reveal of a new Mario game as, like, a 2023 thing, though.
Yeah, at most I think we have Zelda, Metroid and perhaps Advance Wars (finaly) on the re-release front. Hopefully the addition of GB/C and perhaps GBA to NSO, too.

Nintendo should show some of their cards for early 2023 and may also signal something that's further off; a major Mario title for late 2023 would fit the bill.

All I need is Wind Waker HD and this direct will be an all time great for me. Bonus points if Square Enix announces another set of remasters, hopefully including Radiata Stories.

To be fair we have had legitimate leaks fly right under people's noses until after the direct happened. No I'm not talking about Waddle Dee Knows style fake leaks, but actual people who drop a list on a site like 4chan, it gets ignored, and then after the fact people go "...oh that person was spot on". I specifically remember for the Switch January 2017 showcase a leak that blew up after 1-2 Switch and Arms were two of the first games showed because a list had both of them, and for the e3 2018 direct someone posted Daisy & Ridley, everyone is here, and some other factoids from the Smash segment.

So what day we expecting the direct to be?

I actually am forced to take a day off next week or the week after due to working too many days last week. Tho it was just me covering my co-coworker who was going through some personal. I didn’t expect to be given a free day of my choice.

So any clues?

I actually think that if you are expecting a lot of HD remasters, you might walk away pretty disappointed.
Yeah, I think people often conflate "they're coming" with "they're coming soon". Unless Nintendo has a dedicated GameCube Redux section, they'll wanna space them out more

I still remain unconvinced we see WW/TP tbh

Right, they’re going to announce whatever their big March fiscal-year ending game is here (no, I don’t think it’s going to be Zelda…). A lot of times that has been a platformer of some sort (Kirby, Yoshi, Kirby) or another wide-audience title (ACNH). A Mario game just before the Mario movie comes out makes a lot of sense to me.

I’ve said before that I wouldn’t be surprised if “Super Mario Odyssey 2” (or whatever) ends up coming out before BotW2, and I still wouldn’t be surprised by that.

NSFW that I could probably get away with watching it while WFH, or that I probably don't need it in my search history on my work laptop? An important clarification I probably need to be sure of 😅
The first one. It's Gaga but it's not that Gaga

I wouldn't be expecting WW and TP if it wasn't for Grubb being so bullish on it which makes me think he has seen some definitive evidence that they are coming real soon. It seems to be the only thing we is absolutely certain on.

Next Tuesday is the general and/or common assumption.

And I never thought I'd hear someone being forced to not work for at least a day due to "overworking" lmao.

Well if the remasters are treated as gap filler in their calendar then they wouldn't need to dump them all at once, and they'd also have shorter reveal-->release marketing cycles. (We don't even have a Prime 1 announcement and it's supposedly this year still)

I believe Nate said Tuesday was more likely. Please correct me if I'm wrong, everyone!

I think Nintendo is likely to treat Metroid Prime as more of a remake and a more significant release than, say, a potential “gap filler” F-Zero GX HD.

Wednesday because my doctor's appointment is that day. Calling it now

People saw the GameCube remaster tease and already convinced themselves that we’re getting Odama on Switch like the fools they are.

Sorry to disappoint but I’m here to tell you that he’s already in the next Far Cry.

If you're in a region that has mandatory overtime and doubletime pay that kicks in after a certain number of hours worked in a week, yes, companies will boot you out till the next week so they don't have to pay you double.

I actually used to work at a utility company where I was told by my coworkers that common practice during crunch weeks was to fudge your timecard and show fewer hours worked than actual, just to keep from getting booted for working too much.

I'm gonna go ahead and selfishly hope the Direct is next Wed in the morning. I have something to do at 2pm so the afternoon would suck for me.

Guys, just go to work or to school. Go to the gym, go to read, play videogames, hang on with friends, eat healthy and go to sleep early. You’ll see how fast time passes m, and sooner than later, this week would be finished and cheering at the announcement of the Direct next Monday.
idk what that shit is i just f5 treehouse over and over

Summing up what I said before for anyone who is still uncertain about the date being the 13th:
It can't be the 14th (Wednesday) because in Japan and Australia it would be during TGS, which historically it has always been before

Nobody asked me BUT I’m still skeptical of 2 3D Zelda remasters coming out in the window before BOTW2. Maybe I’m too cynical but I think Nintendo would rather keep those for a time when a huge Zelda game isn’t 6-9 months away.

Metroid Prime HD though? Sure.

It could still be a few hours before TGS, if they're cutting it close by a day or two, a few hours (like they always did with E3) isn't really a problem

Seriously though, it's been 7 years since Zip Lash!, Skip hasn't done anything since. Are they even alive? Can a studio survive for 7 years by doing nothing?
They're dead but it's ok. Vanpool will take it from there.

Of course! But I mean, the earlier the better right?
I think Nintendo is aware of how close they are cutting it, so a full day of breathing room is probably preferable to three hours. But I could be wrong!

Tbh Grubb and especially Nate have more than proven their worth w/ Direct dates, there isn't really any reason to doubt we're getting one next week. The real issue as per usual is the specific branding of the Direct. I'm feeling pretty confident it's a general, though, Especially given how long it has been since the last one, plus the Zelda info from Grubb.
