Paper Mario 64 remake on 3DS really should have happened if TTYD indeed comes to Switch at some point, such a missed opportunity.

Overral, the 3DS should have had way more N64 remakes lol. Wave Race 64, F-Zero X... Star Fox 64 3D was so good.

Although they are only a small team, Shin'en Multimedia (FAST Racing) offers itself. For one thing, we haven't heard anything from them for a while now regarding a new game, and for another, we don't know how long this possible remaster has been in development.
 
Apologies if this is poor form, but I've had a super busy week and have only been able to pop into these threads briefly... so why do I keep seeing mentions of Paper Mario remakes? Is it purely speculation/wishful thinking, or is there some reason to believe something like that might happen?

Just about any port/remaster/support studio. I don't think anyone expected Pikmin 3 Deluxe to be made by Eighting for instance (who made the Kururin games, who had experience on ports, but never ported a Nintendo developped game). We probably won't be able to guess who is handling it unless it's NST or something.

True blending of fantasy and sci-fi was done in the Might and Magic series. You have your stock fantasy premise, creatures, characters, setting, and then towards the end you find out the entire world is actually a colony ship built by an alien race as an experiment to seed an otherwise dead world and one of their AI went rogue and tried to steer the ship into the sun.

So it's like stock fantasy mixed with stock sci-fi, no steampunk or magitech, just good old fashioned rogue AI.

Emily recently shared Nintendo regularly looks at fan feedback and is preparing many remakes and revivals based off that. There are more GameCube remasters coming and more from other platforms.

Speculation on Fami's side from those comments is weighing in on Paper Mario TTYD, F-Zero GX, Kid Icarus Uprising remasters, and more.

A very small studio who makes indie games and once made a (or two ? I forgot) futuristic fast paced racing game doesn't sound like the best candidate for a remaster of a Gamecube game, no matter what the genre of said game is :p

It's going to be made by a studio specialized in ports and remasters, either an internal one (NST for instance), or external.

I see, appreciate you filling me in! I'd love to see an older Paper Mario remade, hopefully that's one Nintendo picked

Of course, you should've noticed when i used HoMM and not Might & Magic: Heroes. ;D

(But i think HoMM 5 was pretty good, i give Ubisoft that win)

That is such a massive underestimation of the talent Shin'en has. Such a smart team on the development front, knows how to get the best out of Nintendo systems, has plenty of fresh ideas for new content, and clearly has a great track record with futuristic racers. Manfred and the team get my vote, definitely.
 
Non GC/Wii games that I can see getting remakes/remasters. I don name Fire Emblem/Pokémon games because I’m sure someday they will be remake lol:

  • The Frog For Whom the Bell Tolls (GB); curious title that never got released worldwide
  • Donkey Kong 94 (GB): classic title that a full remake would be very cool.
  • Golden Sun 1/2 (GBA): 100% it will happen someday. Hopefully they have enough budget to make a full 3D remake
  • Mother 3 (GBA): Fixes some issues and a dream lots of west fans had since years can finally be true.
  • Rhythm Heaven (GBA): The best would be a new game I know but considering it never leave japan they can just go and remake this one, maybe improving its issues or adding new games.
  • Elite Beat Agents/Ouendan (DS): They would require to remade the controls but I think it can work, maybe a duo release of both versions worldwide? Then release a remake of 2nd Ouendan as DLC.
  • Jump Ultimate Stars (DS): Update the roster with the newest Shonen series. Its a license nightmare I know but I always heard wonderful things of those titles so that would ve very worthy.
  • Kirby Triple Deluxe/Robobot Planet (3DS): as filler for next main title I can see Hal re-releasing NGC/Wii/3DS games to make some time
  • Kid Icarus Uprising (3DS): this is a given and will happen hopefully next year.
  • Luigis Mansion Dark Moon (3DS): a good wait until the 4th title, packit with the original title.
  • Ever Oasis (3DS): Maybe they can gave Grezzo a second chance
  • Mario & Luigi Superstar Saga/Bowser Inside Story (3DS): remaster/remake of an already remake lol but if they aren’t interested in doing more entires, just go and rerelease those ones.

im really looking forward to today. my wife needs a new phone, so we'll be upgrading hers no matter what. and depending on what verizon's trade-in offers are, maybe i will too. also, i hope the new airpod pros are there!

I really want new AirPods but my current pair is working fine and they’re too expensive to justify a new pair otherwise ;__;

For me an obvious port can be Yoshi's Wooly World. I know it has already been ported to the 3DS, but that hasn't stopped them before (Hyrule Warriors). Plus Wooly World was received far better than Crafted World from what I've seen.

They should just release a Definitive Edition of YWW if they have a lean patch of releases with all the new content from the 3DS ports being added to the base Wii U game

It makes sense, though. If I were posing as a meme account that occasionally drops actual leaks, I would also start spreading obvious memes (new F-Zero, lmao) to distract everyone from the real leaks.
