I'd love for them to do another "but we have one more thing we'd like to show you" moment in the next direct. The Smash Ultimate fakeout in 2018 was great. What announcement would make a great one last thing, in your opinion?
 
I hope they finally announce the date for Xenoblade 3, it was a generic "September 2022"

That's why I'm apologizing. 😅 I can always add to the OP, as the thread moves along! I'm hoping engagement is decent, as there's been some really great Metroid discussion elsewhere, on Fami, and I know the series has some passionate fans here (myself among them, of course!)

Raccoon is obviously Nate's guest. He will reveal that DK saga is an Animal Crossing spin off, canonically.

If I go by the releases in the eshop this week and next week, then both the 7th and the 14th of September are good days for a Direct. As of today, only one game is being released on both days, which would leave room for a few shadow drops.

For starters there is almost always a direct shortly before TGS, which is next week. Even 2020 had a big partners direct.

For seconders Nate and Grubb both expect it next week.

Pattern: There's always a Direct before TGS.
Reason: Nintendo has to announce third party games featured in the Direct before TGS, so that said third parties can freely show/demo them, as Nintendo is not at TGS.

Rumor: Iirc both Emily and Nate said or speculated there is one before TGS. Jeff Grubb said it's in the week starting September 12th (next week).

Wether it's a general Direct (likely) or a Partner Showcase just for third party games (unlikely), it's very likely there's some kind of Direct before TGS starts in Japan Thursday next week.
 
I don't see it this week. Just doesn't make much sense. Let Splatoon breathe, get that first few mil sales, then get people pumped for the next big hitters.

My thoughts are on BotW 2’s release date. If they show the game with a title, but don’t tell us the release date and what that could mean. It could mean it’s saved for Game Awards or something else.

I wouldn't expect anything, or rather anything "big" like a Zelda release date, from Nintendo at any Geoff produced/hosted event.

That "friendship" clearly left with Reggie.
