Remember August 2016? All the people were saying the NX would definitely be revealed in September. There were countdowns each week leading to nothing and we didn’t even have any new Wii U games to play. Ultimately we had to wait until the end of October after what felt like an eternity.
But NX was intended to be revealed in September but Odyssey wasn't running perfectly so they delayed it to October.

@LukasManak22 I still believe in the dream of the 1st. You aren't wrong. It's Grubb that's wrong. It's Nate that's wrong. It's Nintendo that's wrong! And if the world is wrong, then you, our chosen one, must set it right!

My worst ever wait for an announcement although that year+ wait during the first waves of Covid was a drag as well but at least we had great Switch games and Twitter drops.

The NX speculation season was absolute chaos.

Between the dying Wii U, the lackluster game line-ups, the amiibo craze (which led to completely absurd scenarios like someone hijacking a truck full of Splatoon amiibo), the NES Classic shortage, and the NX speculation, the mid 2010s were probably some of the wildest and most despairing times of Nintendo's history.

I don't know what was crazier : this or 2020, when we were so sure there'd be a Direct in January, when we were hanging on to the slightest bit of information, the slightest detail that could lead us to think that we would have a Direct "next week, for sure", to finally have a Mini in late March.

We were waiting so much for this Mini that just before it aired a colleague told me "even if they announce a port of Spider Solitaire, I would be happy"... we got 51 Worldwide Games, so his wish was granted

Lol @ Zippo "confirming" a new 2D Mario game even though we've already known one was coming for years
2023/24 fiscal year, dropping the 'New' branding, featuring a new art style - those are all things I'd have guessed at, and I don't even have an uncle working at Nintendo.

Man, Clubhouse Games is great and too many people sleep on it.

I kinda doubt they'll entirely drop the NSMB branding/aesthetic sadly, they clearly want that (and 3D World) to be sort of the defacto look for the Mario brand, you can already see that with Super Nintendo World.

Hold the phone, there are rumors of a New 2D mario game?!

I wish one of ya'll would have told me!

If you haven't mastered every game in Clubhouse Games: 51 Worldwide Classics, you're not worth my time.
So what if I used rewind to beat Impossible Chess, it still counts

I should replay Metroid Dread. I played it and beat it last year and liked it but also didn't feel very strongly about it one way or another. I need to replay it to really solidify my opinions on it.
Replaying it and knowing how to do some of the intended and not intended sequence breaks just further solidified the game for me as a top tier Metroid game.

Only Nintendo could get away with charging $40 for thousand year old games.

The only thing that makes me hesitant about how substantial this Direct will be is the seemingly upcoming Drake release. They‘ll surely pair that reveal with new announcements as well. I‘d hope they would do the Drake reveal as soon as possible but that obviously wouldn’t make sense for their holiday business.

Jeff heard week of the 12th, Quartermann has heard "as early as next week" (Sept 5th), but I think it lends more credence to the week of TGS more than anything else.

I'm still holding onto my prediction that N64 NSO update will be the following week, Friday September 23rd, filling the average 35 day gap between releases, no NSO update of genuine substance until October.
I could see GB and GBA NSO dropping October too
