I have to study but I can’t stop checking the thread 😭
Tbh I don’t understand why Nintendo waits till the day before to announce the date…

I think it is tomorrow or bust for a general, but if it doesn’t happen, I’ll still be there checking at 6:00 AM with you all on Wednesday and Thursday because a Mini or shadow drop is never off the table.

Quiet quitting becoming a thing is so strange to me, like, how are you supposed to quit? Screaming and shouting?

At work, I have this separate document where I write down a register for every shipping label, receipt and invoice I ever write, and I wrote "GENERAL DIRECT WEEK!" on the second week in June, and then moved that "GENERAL DIRECT WEEK!" sentence down and down and down and down, until now, where it sits on next week.

Having to erase it this week instead would feel cool.

Koei Tecmo plans to update information on TGS 2022 on September 2.

Treated myself after work tonight to Regal's RPX screening of Fellowship of the Ring Extended Edition with 4 friends. Great times. Now I'm sleepy and ready to irresponsibly hype tomorrow and reset the clock for Wednesday!

Also, Jaws hits IMAX this weekend too, and I'm definitely going to have to see that on the big screen. Then I'll see either Bodies Bodies Bodies or Three Thousand Years of Longing.
Had another migraine. This time it affected my vision some which was odd. I'm fine overall though

Weird to have three back to back migraines lately

Happened to me yesterday, always makes my vision very weird ; like seeing ultra bright fractals printed on my retinas growing and growing until it disappears. But sometimes as it grows, it looks like a weird Augmented Reality UI with moving shapes.

Can this be another sign?👀 maybe they have something to show on the 1st in the direct

Yeah that’s about all I need. Something is definitely happening on the 1st

It’s one day before for generals and has been for like the past 4 years, what are y’all smoking.

Wednesday if it’s the 1st
I have no idea why people still think that General has been 2 days before. The last time when General was announced two days ago was September 2017. Ever since then, it always was one day before. People should stop giving game specific Directs, Minis, Partners and Indie Worlds or what not as an examples. General is one day before for more than 4 years. It really is 31st Wednesday 23:00 JST.

Also, I still find kinda funny how Nintendo announces these Treehouses and game Directs more advance than General ones, but I guess that the General Direct brand speaks for itself and it just works for them.

It’s a dumb term trying to be introduced for when you don’t take on extra work or don’t do work that’s not in your job description. ie if you are scheduled to work from 9:00 to 5:00 and someone gives you something at 4:55 and you know it’ll take more than an hour, you still leave work promptly at 5:00.

People don’t want the term to catch on, but then keep clowning on it, so it’s kind of a lost cause it will catch on :/ I accepted it will…

I dont understund the reasons why so many people talk about WW and TP, i understund annual Zelda, but Botw2 is basically around the corner they litterally dont need them

They instead need them for the YEARS gap between this Zelda and the next

Rehashing one of the Wii U Zelda ports is maybe possible, but I don't think the timing is really right for that until we have hardware that can run the games at >1080p. Doing both of them at the same time just seems completely out of the question. The only scenario I can think of where that kinda makes sense is if they're the originals, emulated, rather than ports of the Wii U versions, but even then I'd expect them to be spaced out a bit.

It isn't catching on because people are pointing out how dumb it is, every outlet is forcing into the mainstream because it fits a corporate interest narrative.

Tbh if getting WW and TP HD means that BotW2 won’t be shown I won’t be happy.
I really hope they don’t pull the “We know you are excited for BotW2 but we don’t have any new info to share with you yet, but please take a look at this” thing that they did with Skyward Sword HD.
At that time I could accept it. Now it’s definitely the time for a full botw2 reveal tho

Wind Waker in 4K with extra ocean sections just to piss off @Dardan Sandiego the haters

Twilight Princess is fine. Wind Waker is... has good music. But can we please just get a decent BotW2 trailer? We're reaching FF7R levels of argh.

Seriously, though, now just doesn't seem like a good time to burn another 3D Zelda port, let alone two of them. BotW 2 is, at most, 9 months away, probably closer to 6. Would make a ton more sense to use them as filler after that releases.

Stranger things have happened so you never know. With Nintendo, expect the unexpected always

Call it assholish behaviour, but i certainly don't want to see Aonuma again saying it's too early to talk about BotW 2 and here's something else instead.

It was barely okay the first time, at least we got Skyward Sword out of the Wii prison. But this won't fly a second time especially when it's "just" about ports of the HD versions of TP and WW.

I just wish Nintendo would apply this short timeframe between announcement and release they now usually do to Zelda too. Even without the pandemic, this game should've never been announced in 2019.
That E³ Direct was great, they didn't even need that announcement ....

I agree, the announcement was sick when I was personally still hoping it could make 2020 since it presumambly used much of the same mechanics and map and was a smaller (meaning smaller than Breath of the Wild) project. It's obviously not that which is great but then whyyyyy announce it in a year when you really didn't need to announce it

Maybe the scope of the game changed in development along with Covid delays etc.

I think they’ll either ignore the game entirely or just say ‘don’t worry, the game is still on track for Spring 2023’ before maybe showing off WW/TP.

Tbh I won’t be happy with this either lol
I (and I think also a lot of more people) want a full reveal. We need a long trailer that finally shows off the game mechanic + the existence of dungeons + the title.
The date can still be “Spring 2023” if they want to say it in Feb direct or in a dedicated one. But we need all the other infos now

About the last sentence, Nintendo is social media skilled enough to understand how that would result in a massive outcry.

There's a reason they dragged Aonuma in front of a camera to say some soothing words when they both announced Skyward HD and the Spring 2023 release timeframe.

For WW/TP HD, I think that WW makes the most sense. I was not super impressed when I saw TPHD ngl, WWHD's simplistic artstyle and lighting just looked nicer. TP deserves to be re-remade, imo. To be honest, if it wasn't for Grubb I'd assume Nintendo would wait for 4k to advertise it as yet another visual upgrade for the sake of marketing. But then again, these re-releases are all about the core fans, for the most part.

As for Botw2, If they show it at all, I think whatever they do show will only go as far as showing what new can be done in the game. New mechanics are fine to 'spoil' because you want to know what you're doing anyway. The original game's first real trailer showed climbing, jumping, etc. I'd expect to see stuff in that area: swimming, cave exploration, open-air travel, etc. But actual content, like story, towns, or even most locations? Forget about it. And as good as the Jan 2017 trailer for Botw was, it totally overselled the story and progression of the game (what we got was good, just... you know... so much of it was memories). They need to be more intentional this time around.

Good morning, did I miss anything? Last thing I saw was the discord person being confirmed as speculating
Been relatively calm since. Only exciting-ish thing is Tecmo Koei is supposed to update their TGS line up on September 2nd. Could point to a September 1st Direct.

I would have been fine with WW/TP HD and nothing on BotW2 in February. I would have been mildly miffled in June. In September, though…
