2.9.2022 is February 9th

Sept 2 is a Friday. They don’t do directs on Fridays
Last year's September direct fell on a Friday for certain regions due to timezones, no? America got it on Thursday afternoon, and this would coincide with the 9/1 and 9/2 date.

Not saying that's what's gonna happen, but it does line up.

Correct

that's definitely Google mistaking February 9 in the US for September 2 in another region
Nah it's most likely they edit the metadata on that url Google picks up on the smallest updates. I don't personally think there's a direct next week also.

I mean (haven't been up to date on this thread) I'm assuming we're all thinking there's going to be a Direct this month
Next week is PAX and Splatoon
The week after is Tokyo Game Show
Meaning the only free weeks are this coming one and the week of the 21st (unless it's a Mini)

Tokyo Game Show starts september 15, so the Direct could still be on September 6 - 8, this "in 4 days" is just the Google software interpreting February 9 as September 2.

Really hoping Prime Remakester is announced in the Sep direct. I've never actually properly played any of the Prime games (Dread is the first Metroid game I've finished/played more than an hour or 2) and am keen to experience what everyone raves about so much! I've been holding off playing Trilogy partly cos I don't wanna dig my Wii U out, and partly cos I want to wait for the remake.
I'd also love to see Windwaker HD/Twilight Princess HD coming to Switch, but who knows whether Nintendo will finally bring them across.

So given the other events in September, either this week (Thursday?) or the last 2 weeks of Sep are most likely?

if the url were scheduled to be hidden in four days, would that trigger this metadata update?

oh wow, I never thought about PAX and the event they're holding. yeah, that week is way too busy

I still think they'll slip it in right before TGS
I'd doubt even that because companies have to make their TGS announcements right before the main event

What will I do? Nothing. I am not the guy who's mental health gets worse when new games are not announced (I seriously read this here).
Not sure if this is referring to the post I made the other day, or if you mean someone else’s, but I thought I should give some insight. Yes, I became burnt out from tons of speculation. It may seem pathetic that it impacted my mental health.

I didn’t say this in the post, but I suffer from intense mental health issues on a day-to-day basis that make life very difficult. This may be TMI but since this is all anonymous I don’t see a reason why I shouldn’t give a bit of the story.

Being here with you all has become a release where I can escape the constant mental hell that I suffer through on a day-to-day basis. Daydreaming with you all about Nintendo Directs has become a place of mental refuge where I could feel connected to others and be as nerdy as I want to be without fear of judgment.

It might not make sense to you. Reading this over I know it sounds dumb. But my life has been on a downward spiral and I am in a constantly deep depression since May. I’ve lost my job, my dog, and my girlfriend; most of which I’ve referenced in previous posts. I thought this was a place where I could be honest and share my feelings and truths.

When I became over-reliant, I started to pour my energy into other things. I was proud of this change and felt myself overcoming this obsession with speculation. I shared that here.

Whether you’re referring to my post (which is so far back I don’t know how to link it), or someone else’s, be wary that you don’t know everyone’s struggle or story. What may seem like nothing to you could be very important to someone else.

Googled Pax and it’s the 2nd - 5th. Whatever event they have it shouldn’t effect either a September 1st event or a Splatoon week event.

I think the best course of action is just wait out this week, don't expect anything the following week due to PAX and mainly Splatoon 3, and maybe the few days before TGS.

Damn, that's tough. I was not reffering to your post by any means, not remember it much but the guy basically said that Nintendo was owing us Direct is June and it's unacceptable that they did not have one and so on, basically the real life version of that copypasta. I am very serious of topic of mental health and would never ever made fun of it, if you felt like I touched you in this topic then am deeply sorry.

It’s totally okay. I really appreciate the apology.

I guess it was just poor timing since I made that post not too long ago.

But all is good between us. Team 9/1ers for life! 🙌

This thread is helping to prove a hypothesis I touched upon a couple of weeks ago when I shared the September Direct plans. Knowing the plans doesn't seem to prevent individuals from actively trying to find clues about timing. Knowledge of a presentation taking place isn't enough. There's still a lure to know the date of the presentation early... which even when given simply leads to folks waking up each morning and awaiting a tweet to be made to confirm the day. If said tweet comes later in the day than expected... panic and desperation set in.

In summary: knowing such specifics in advance doesn't offer any relief.

I think for a lot of people (especially Lukas) the puzzle is the fun part

you played us all Nate. I knew the September Direct was fake!!

But yeah like Raccoon says, for me as well the speculation and stuff like this is a fun passtime to do for me. I'm not obsessed with the date, if it doesn't happen this week then it doesn't, on to the next one!

No, if it doesn't happen this week we go rage on Twitter and send Miyamoto angry emails :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:

So many hints in this post, it’s overwhelming.

At least this kills time so we can indulge ourselves into shenanigans and shake off some of the boredom we all have.

I think it’s understandable that diehard fans are excited and want to know the date in advance for the next occasion Nintendo opens up about their upcoming games, which rarely happens (outside of specific marketing for imminent releases at least).

I do get that the constant need for reassurance from a vocal minority, even with a date, might get irritating though.

Direct speculation beginner could be mad that the announcing tweet is coming later in the day but the Direct speculation veterans always know it's 23:00 JST time, this pattern will never be broken.

We are also due an Indie World Direct.

Previously, there had been an Indie Direct every August for the past 5 years, so they may still try to sneak one in at the very last day of the month. Though the Spring Indie World did happen a month later than normal in May as opposed to April, so maybe their schedule is pushed forward.
