I can't believe Nintendo is leaving Xenoblade to die. The last game came out 2 weeks ago already, where is Xenoblade 4 Nintendo?
I'm sorry but no more xenoblade from now on.
Xenoblade 3 didn't get a 90 metacritic score and it's underwhelming sales first week so the series is dead.

I am baffled we have gotten this far in the year with no Style Savvy announcement yet :(
Iirc SynSophia's hiring call for people interested in fashion started in late 2020. If it was indeed for a new Style Savvy it should hopefully be revealed soon.

Stop trying to scare me

How's everyone doing in here?

I've been swamped at work, but I did just manage to get the real ending of Live A Live tonight. Really great game with an out-of-this-world final chapter and OST throughout the entire game. The score is shockingly gorgeous, and the game itself was such a refreshing change of pace from modern RPGs.

Now onto a modern RPG in Xenoblade 3!
I’m seeing a doctor today about my hand. It was shaking uncontrollably the other day and could barely move it

Hours later than anticipated and weeks later than needed, I have at last rewritten the OP. I intend to keep the FAQ and News sections up to date this time around, so please @ me whenever you think you have a valuable addition. If you have a worthless addition, please @ me as well.
New OP is great! I really like the more laidback tone.

LAL is like slipping back into a warm bath. I liked Octopath Traveler and it being basically throwback comfort food but LAL is the real deal, with just a little less going on with the writing and the mechanics than OT.

I'm also very amused that I'm heading out on vacation next week to the same place that I played through the Prehistoric chapter in the fan translation probably 10-15 years ago :D

They usually have a show before TGS. Indie World is probably first if it happens. Getting very close now.
I'm expecting Indie World next week and a Direct either the week of TGS (9/12 or 9/13) or sometime week after. I don't think they're going to do a general direct before Splatoon 3 with all eyes on that game now.

Sunsoft virtual Event on the 18th is something I could 100% gel with.

Sunsoft was probably my favorite publisher during the NES era, and thus has a very special place in my heart.
Hopefully they bring some of their old goodies back to life.
Inti Creates has been doing a good job carrying water for them with the Blaster Master Zero games.

I'm actually really excited to learn about the Torna equivalent they're planning for 3. Torna was amazing and 3 is amazing so I have high hopes.

I think they'll announce it at E32023 and everyone will be mad.

Excellent (renewed) OP!

Y'all know what I just realized? The order of the poll list.
  • Pokémon news (August 3rd)
  • Splatoon 3 Direct (August 10th)
  • Kirby's Dream Buffet release date (announcement was August 11th)
  • Kirby's Dream Buffet release (August 17th)
  • Indie World (...)
Indie World next week on the 18th or later confirmed!

I'll keep your insider status safe, @Raccoon 😘

I still don't think there'd be a september Direct. Sure there are some first party games to be revealed soon but there's almost no third party ones. Both Square and Namco have super stacked lineups and Capcom's next game isn't coming out until next year. Directs are usually 80% third party and we might not have enough to fill that.

My guess would be a November Direct to focus on H1 2023.

If there isn’t a direct in September, I can’t imagine we get anything for the rest of the year. They’d probably just Twitter drop their big Q1 game on Twitter (likely Fire Emblem) and ride that until February.

Disagree that there isn’t enough for a September direct though. We didn’t really get much new stuff last year.

They can still do a September direct to promote the 2022 games they have a marketing deal for like DQ Treasures, announce 3rd party games for early 23 and 1st party stuff

I’d guess the February direct myself. Doubt it will take over a year to release, given that Torna only took 9 months. The roadmap just reads like they’re playing it safe to me, rather than a sign that it won’t be until late 2023.

February reveal for an April/May release is my guess.

So that one wizard game that I shall not name (by the way, trans rights are human rights) got a delay release date of February 10th, with the tweet specifically saying "the Nintendo Switch version launch date will be revealed soon". Possible September General Direct announcement?

That's a good point actually, forgot X2 was December. I guess once we see when wave two and three are we'll have a clearer picture of when to expect it. Sooner would be great, but I don't mind if it's later tbh.

I was about to ask the exact same thing. Seems kind of weird to say that it will be announced soon instead of something like: "Switch version will launch at a later date"

Honestly... I don't think there will be enough third party games for the first half of the next year to fill a Direct either. I feel we'll get less and less if there's no Pro to improve things.

Square might have more remasters and 2DHD stuff and Namco more Encore games but that should be about it. Even Capcom is having the whole second half of 2022 with zero Switch releases so I don't think anyone is bothered enough.

Eh, I think it will probably be a twitter announcement for the Switch release date. For all we know, that might not get confirmed until after the other versions release. Depends on where they are with development.

September Direct all depends on Zelda. No, they are not waiting till February to fully start the marketing cycle and no they are not waiting till Game Awards (I know they don't do much here nowadays). September - March with start sharing what this game is all about sounds good to me, 6 whole months. If Nintendo is not interested in doing General than Zelda Direct in late September/early October sounds good to me.

Someone had to say it.

I just found the timing curious and wanted to share the info
Something to keep in mind, we are still waiting on the Life is Strange Remastered Switch version. That is still listed as "coming in 2022" and it has been that way since the game released on other systems back in February.

Some switch ports just take a looooooong time.

They could definitely wait until the February/March Direct. If it's out later 2023, I could see them just not talking about it for a bit.

That is true. Guess I’m trying to find a silly connection for a direct soon

Be kind of funny if there is one and that game was in it.

Just bored today since I’m just on here some and can’t ppl at games for a couple of a weeks

Yes, I know the game is controversial but I’m more curious why they’re waiting ti reveal tge switch version’s release date compared to the other ones. Maybe a direct reveal or the drake?

Maybe the switch date is part of a new partners showcase on september

I think it would be interesting if the lack of a June Direct turns out to be part of their broader strategy of announcing things closer to launch and giving each game its own space

The one thing that makes me very confident about a September Direct is that absolutely nothing is announced/confirmed for Q1 2023. (BOTW 2 only has a Spring 2023 window. I still choose to believe that means March, but it isn't set in stone by any means). There is a lot of smoke regarding Metroid Prime 1 HD and a new Fire Emblem.

I do not see Nintendo riding another several months without a first party direct.

maybe, but the thing with them announcing games shortly before release is not new, MM2 for example. I think they really just evaluate if a Direct makes sense or not, and this time June maybe wasn’t a good fit for them. One of the biggest announcements in retrospect would’ve been the Mario Kart Wave 2, and that’s a thing that maybe carries even better when it’s announced on its own. I think they only chose to have a direct when multiple announcements stack up and push themselves, and this time maybe they decided that all the individual announcements were better on their own.
Oh and apparently there’s not this one „big holiday“ title they have to push. After the stellar Feb direct, people may have been overly optimistic (myself included) thinking that with such a great start into the year, the other Directs „must“ be bangers as well since H2 is normally a much more release-heavy period.

You are optmistic with BotW2 launching at the earliest possible month of the release window (and this FY). It's probably an April-June game.

Switch 2 announcement + BotW2 marketing in January have my 2 cents.

The December slot. Also known in my head as the Silksong Slot.

I think there is nothing announced there because everyone in the industry knows Silksong is coming out then, and they are afraid to compete with such an epic.

I'm really looking forward to getting my hands on Live A Live.

Currently I'm playing Xenoblade 3 and trying to figure out if it's possible to retire in a videogame village.
Oh man, I'm excited. I'm a sucker for cozy RPG villages. BOTW had a few of those.
I’m seeing a doctor today about my hand. It was shaking uncontrollably the other day and could barely move it
Oh what?! That doesn't sound too great bud, wishing you the best and let me know as soon as you hear what the doc has to say. Hope things are going well otherwise!

I have inflammation build up and a small case of carpel tunnel. I'm taking some steroids and wearing a brace to try and heal it. No video games for two weeks at least and take it slow some after that
