StarTopic Xenoblade 3 |ST| Σ Become One

Is there no way to pull up the map screen without having quest info on? Doesn't seem like + works without it.
Why are hardly any of the creatures docile? Even the bunnits are spoiling for a fight. I don't remember the other games being like that.
As an aside, I loved DE's way of signposting whether or not a creature was aggressive or not and what senses they could use to detect you if they were. Really miss that.
Kinda not keen on the number of fights with crab-ass scrubs I'm being forced into.
Except the Piranhax, for some reason.

Weird, I've found it really easy to slip by enemies. I went exploring past some level 40+ monsters in the first big area right after Colony 9 and some level 70+ fuckers in Millick Meadows.

I’m still only in Chapter 1 2 (I started counting from a Chapter 0 for some reason oops) but the game has really grabbed me, I’ve been really enjoying it. I think the opening did a great job at establishing the basics of the world and getting my attention. Interested to see where things go.

The battle system is a lot of fun too and I specifically am finding a lot of simple enjoyment out of Taion’s backward dodge animation. Something about him sliding like that is pleasing to me. Can’t wait to unlock more classes, sub arts and skills to play around with.

Also just having finished 2 and Torna, 3 just feels better (it’s because of the jump, the jump in 2 annoyed me)

Couple quick questions:

1. Can the big destination ! marker be turned off? I like having it on my minimap but not so much in the middle of the visible landscape. I thought the developer interviews said it could be turned off it you don't like it, but I can't find the option?

2. Can the alternate menu music be disabled? Weird gripe but it's kinda jarring to have the music shift every time I wanna check something in the menu (like when I was constantly bouncing around looking for an answer to question 1 😅).

Other than that I probably won't be very active here for.. like a long while. 😅

Wow.... the Class change mechanic + Master Arts blows the combat system wide open... I feel like the massive scope of this game is starting to hit me.

In the middle of Chapter 2 and played 9 hours so far: It's great! This is probably the strongest opening to a Xeno game plot-wise, since it gets going so quickly in Chapter 1 - the cutscenes and cutscene direction is also VERY good and much improved. That said, the combat, locations, sidequests, and honestly even a few of the music tracks aren't quite as strong right off the bat. Mostly I'm missing sidequests - they have mostly disappeared, although I know that's going to change soon. I also miss the sort of "affinity objectives" from XC2: Completing various objectives to upgrade skills and traits and other things for all your blades was always super addicting and good incentive to explore.

From everything I'm hearing, though, Chapter 2 is just more of a lull and a lot of tutorializing before you're really let loose, so I'm betting these minor gripes will evaporate before long. And I'm still having a blast anyway!

There's one thing I want to say that not enough people are praising, the eyes and their animation. They're really detailed and the way they're animated is pretty realistic too lol.
Yeah. All their eyes look gorgeous. You really get to see how much detail and effort they put into each characters eyes on closeups.

The graphics in general seem very good to me. Especially the characters and animations - so much improvement over 2.

Especially so in handheld mode. It's still unfortunately a bit blurry but FAR better than 2. Especially in cutscenes.

Everything is a massive improvement. I honestly can't imagine what they can achieve in the next generation of Switch.

C'MERE! I GOT SOMETHIN FOR YA!

I'm sure that line is already pissing some people off but I can't help but saying it along with my boy every single time

The biggest plot twist I experienced so far is...Riku's voice. I went blind as possible and avoided watching all trailers and the Direct but that voice caught me off guard so hard lol.

I did my part and I supported the game by picking it up day one. Now I hope all of my fellow Nintendo fans can go out there and do the same thing. Come on guys let’s push the Xenoblade franchise to the limits. By the way I will not be commenting online for the next 3 to 4 months because I am going to be playing this game. See you next time guys.

Damn. These cutscenes are long.

The budget increase is shooooooowing
Yeah, no kidding. I have been repeating some cutscenes here and there but they take quite a while to reach the points I wanted to watch again. We need a fast-forward button, lol. If I look them up, I will inevitably encounter a not so desired thumbnail or something, so that's not an option right now.

Moreover, I think Vandham was just a clothing seller that happened to have a world-changing device in his ship.

I haven’t played it yet, but regarding point 1. In previous games, I would go for it. Obviously some high level ones would be a no go. But I would always try for the ones kinda around my level or a little bit higher and see if I luck out or not lol no harm no foul! Sometimes I would be successful by the skin of my teeth!
It's going to be a long while before you can go back to the starter area after becoming ouroboros and the rewards won't be much by then. There's really only three or four quests in the beginning, if you're interested you might as well do them and get some better accessories for the first boss fights. I'm pretty sure your Agnus team's levels will be the same as your Keves team so don't worry about that.

As for uniques, it's up to you whether you want the challenge as that's really what unique's are for. There's only one level appropriate unique in the starting zone and you can't de-level so if you want the challenge, go for it. It's perfectly beatable with your beginning team at least on normal. Also, unique tombstones are fast travel points this time around so that comes in handy.
Thanks! I’m by no means new to the series so I know it’s generally a good idea to explore as much as you want, but from watching my partner play it seemed like this game limits you a lot more in the very early game than the others did, so I just wasn’t sure if it was even worth trying until later when I have my full team. But knowing that you can’t return to the starting area until way later is helpful, and I’m choosing to explore things very thoroughly now because of that. I’m not really having any trouble either, so I guess my partner just wasn’t high enough level last night or something, lol. They kept losing because Eunie would die and then they couldn’t revive anyone. =P

So I just arrived in Eagus Desert and I finally put together what that giant ring from the promotional material is, and holy shit.

Man I love Sena and Lanz already.

The two of them just randomly screaming and doing these stupid dance moves to try and activate their Oroboros fusion was gold.

Something that I was caught a bit off-guard by is that Lanz starts off as kind of an asshole.

I like it!

I was kind of worried about the Direct spoiling a ton of the game, but it looks like most of it has already been covered in-game. Very surprised how much of this stuff was in the first few hours

Got around 10 hours now and yes, this is by far the most polished entry in the series so far. Everything flows so well from the story, gameplay and exploration, is basically the perfect execution of the XC formula.

Speaking of the exploration, I have been missing how good XC is in that regard. Your curiosity is always rewarded with new locations, experience and treasure, they're even implementing a more logical way to create shorter paths between locations that feels very Metroidvania-like. If I had a complaint though is that, while movement feels better than before, is still not quite there yet, I wish they would have implemented at least a way to grab surfaces to make it easier to traverse.

Damn, did they have to go that hard on the menu music?

Really enjoying it so far, not too far into it yet. Looking forward to getting some serious playtime in this weekend.

So. Keves has the boring Xenoblade 1 mechanics and Agnes has the superior Xenoblade 2 battle mechanics lol.

Like a world of difference controlling Mio vs Noah. It’s early game tho and Xenoblade is one of those “combat kinda sucks until you get further into it”
Type of games.

I’m interested to see how endgame will look for both. Might combine into some insane optional bosses.

Also. I wonder what a full team and time would’ve done with Xenoblade 2 lol

I'll be excited when people stop imagining what Xenoblade 2 would have been with a "full staff" as if it isn't already an incredible 100+ hour full and complete rollercoaster ride of a JRPG with one of the best single player battle systems

Okay I just went from “this battle system is kinda simple and bland, where’s the extra oomph?” to “Holy crap I have no idea what I’m doing” in no time flat, damn. This is great.

I also love the swearing in this. “Queen’s Beans”, lol

Finished for the day, in the middle of chapter 3 and just freed Colony 30 and unlocked Valdi. Valdi is a sweet baby boy and literally breaks chain attacks in half when against mechanical bosses holy shit.

Game seems to have slowed down a bit after the craziness of the end of chapter 2, but I have no doubt there will be another climax again at the end of the chapter. I accidentally stumbled on Alexandria's hero quest at the beginning of the chapter as well but I think I started it too early when all the enemies were lvl 23 while I was still 18. Gonna try to go back and do that tomorrow now that I'm leveled up.

The music in this is fucking incredible. I always rated Xenoblade 2's soundtrack highly but this is sounding like it's next level. I haven't encountered a track that was anything less than great and some tracks like the Moebius battle themes blew my mind when I first heard them.

I haven't stopped playing since I got home from work 7 hours ago lmao.

Got a strong feeling this will wind up as one of my favorite games of all time

Can we not turn this into a Xenoblade 2 thread? Or worse, a Xenoblade 1 vs Xenoblade 2 thread?

I feel crazy reading posts about how this is the best start to a Xeno game because I was very unimpressed until the first big boss fight where the game picks up

Considering how dogshit every Xenoblade game before this was at explaining the mechanics, even if I don't need the tutorial this is easily the best opening to one of these games from that perspective alone.

I get what you mean since a bunch of players didn't understand 2's combat for a long time, but the tutorial was way too much. Refusing to let you move until you open the menu and equip an accessory/art/whatever, forcing you to use bonus EXP on every character, locking parts of the battle system away, they really should've given an option on a short or long tutorial based on whether you played any RPG before

Just started chapter 2 (entering the desert area) before going to bed (too much work, so the playtime was limited but I’ll be fully on board tomorrow lol) and total time around 9 hours. The game mechanics and menus are unfolding slowly in comparison of X1, XCX and X2, maybe to answer some people complaints that I don’t agree with… I hope the game is not watered down in that regard, but I’m optimistic. My other little (and I hope unfounded) fear is about the map: I already traversed three fairly big regions in the beginning and the General map menu revealed a decent chunk of the whole Aionios so I fear there will be little surprises later on, just backtracking and accesing previously unreachable areas on the old maps with new skills. I hope there are some big surprises about this… I mean the Direct and Twitter didn’t reveal too much but we saw like 6-7 different biomes and in the first two episodes I just explored almost half of them…

BTW, Mr. Wild Ride battle theme… oh my… that beauty could perfectly belong in other jrpg‘s final boss… I don’t know if anyone know the title track to look up in YouTube without any spoiler risk… I want to hear that amazing track again… ❤️❤️❤️

Nearing the end of Ch. 2. If I was to describe this game so far in one word it would be “polished.” The flow of the cutscenes and pacing of the adventure has been excellent, I love all 6 MCs already, and the battle system feels very refined.

The music has been a litttle more on the sombre side vs. the beginnings of XC1 and XC2, which is fine by me since it fits the world like a glove. The world design is probably the only area so far where I’m left wanting a bit more, but I have a suspicion that some of the later areas will be more visually stimulating and complex.

All in all, it’s so great to have another Xenoblade game to play, especially such a high quality one!

Look it up as "Xenoblade 3 boss theme", it's safe. Right now iffy-looking thumbnails don't appear if you look for it like that. But yes, the track is out of this world, at least I think so. It crushes its counterparts from the original, X and 2.

Starting this game instantly gave me nostalgia for Xenoblade 2 back in 2017. While that was more of a coming of age story, I feel that this will have more of a serious tone throughout and I’m excited to see where it and its cast will go!

Thank you! I just found it but it was called Consul & Moebius battle theme

if anyone wants the link to the video, beware it has footage from that fight:

Already encountered 5 instances of my console overheating. It’s been on the brink of death for a while now, and XC3 may have pushed it over the edge lol.

Was hoping to wait for new hardware, but I might have to settle for an OLED for the time being. Bleh.

I'm sure I'm not the only immature person who heard "fucking fucking" chanting at the start of the Wild Ride boss theme 😆
