Zelda Dancing will be better than Zelda Musou 3.

I was listening to some old directs for my Japanese practice and as someone who wasn't there at the time, I must say I much prefer Mr. Iwata's style of presenting the direct. No loud background music or anything. The way he calmly talked about games feels really close and direct. I'd be great if we got this type of presentation again.

Why a game like XBC3 that could have been a looker on the Switch Pro has been anticipated? This year will be all about current Switch guys.
Because Nintendo is still treating Switch as their main platform and they will for some time Drake won't affect the software release of Switch titles, also you could say the same about Last Of Us 2 and PS5.

The new hardware we all love to talk about around here probably will not replace the current model, and will live alongside it. I am more and more confident that it will be marketed in the same way the PS4 Pro is: “same games, better graphics/performance.”

I think the main difference is going to be the existence of Switch Pro Exclusives; games that require the new hardware to play.

Been a while since I was here.

Really feeling something happening this week! Hope it's Bayo release date and/or Booster Course pack wave 2.

Also, Elma best girl!

New 3DS/GBC is a better example of what we expect really but I think it will have even more exclusive in the long run than these two and will act as a successor in 2025+

I had an additional paragraph typed for that post about it taking over the “base model” slot and becoming the default in a few years but deleted it because I don’t really wanna predict that far in advance because honestly anything can happen

but yeah, this new model becoming the base model eventually is currently what I’m thinking

I think GBC is absolutely the right comparison, moreso than the New 3DS. GBC had a bunch of exclusives, and very quickly became the “default” Game Boy model until the Advance released a few years later. Of course plenty of games that were playable on the base model still came out years after release, but if you wanted to play all the hottest, most demanding titles, you needed that new model. N3DS did become the default 3DS model but very very few games were exclusive to it, and most games didn’t really take advantage of the frankly pretty staggering (on paper) power increase over the base model.

I know some people will absolutely disagree with me but if I can speak my mind real quick

The vibes are totally on this week. I have little doubt this week will be exciting.
Whatever happens, being it Drake, first party showcase or anything. I totally believe that the weekend skip for Splatoon 2 tournament is a testfire and there could be announcement for it as soon as tomorrow.

We have put all of our faith in a September Switch Pro reveal, as it has been foretold by the mysterious intriguing nintendo switch chinese factory person which cannot possibly end in disappointment.
I hope for you it will end good. But I have doubt. New Splatoon branded Switch in September and a game that could have shown the “4K” beauty pulled in July from September? Good luck!

I endorse this statement 110%

If this ends up being closer to the GBC vs. a DSi/N3DS I'm going to be incredibly happy. Especially if there's also a storage capacity bump like the OLED model had as my internal + 32 GB SDHC is pretty full at this point and I've been holding off on upping the expansion card because of the new hardware looming.

Hell the fact that N3DS did nothing to help slow-ass load times on things like Badge Arcade was such a let down.

Like I said in the general thread, even if we get nothing I've got other reasons to be hype this week, but a Direct or finally ripping the bandaid off the hardware reveal would be awesome. Like you compiled, there's a lot of movements by Nintendo lately that have historically indicated some sort of announcement is incoming.

I really hope so but tbh I am not convinced

Honestly though I don't quite get people being excited for Stinky Horse even ironically

The game doesn't sound interesting or even like a particularly dramatic trash fire. It's not a creative idea gone wrong. It's a boring sequel to a boring game, and while it is apparently so horrendous that Nintendo barely wants to release it, I think that mostly comes down to just how incredibly uninteresting it is

I gotta imagine a bump to 128 GB internal is a very easy, probably not that expensive bullet point for the back of the box of this enthusiast-directed model.

Yeah, I’ve got a lot of reasons to be excited this week personally but Nintendo doing something big would be icing on my birthday cake.

Fantastic game! I've been playing through Earthbound again for the past week and a half and always think of him with that one too.

Those directs really were something special!

Definitely have a good feeling about a Bayo release date coming very soon too! Plus, that 7-11 ad in Japan sure points to something with MK as well!

Agree! Looking forward to this week so much!

The Nintendo Switch - 4K Model is being announced this Wednesday

people are gonna be like “actually the official name uses an em dash, not an en dash, therefore actually you were wrong” when the thing is actually announced on Wednesday

I just hope the MSRP on the thing isn't more than $400-500. I know once you get into the $500-600 I start to think more about how many games i'm going to play on the thing. Which is easy for me to answer with Nintendo but much harder with the other manufacturers given I've been a fan of Nintendo first-party since the NES.

I think $499 USD makes a lot of sense for this unit. If I remember correctly (I’m Canadian so US prices are not something I’m thinking about much) the Lite is $200 USD and the OLED is $350 USD, so I think a “200/350/500” spread makes a lot of sense. In Canadian it would be “250/450/650“ (rounded, I think the Lite here is 259, and the Pro could come in at the same price as PS5 which is 629, Canada stays weird)

Do you mean USA or Canada $? Because haven't seen even the most pessimistic users think it will be more expensive than 500 usd I think 400-500usd is the expected range

How much more powerful was the new 3ds than the og hardware? I remember Monster Hunter 4 apparently having better textures on the N3DS but Even watching a DF comparison video I could not see any difference between the two versions, so I’m quite surprised to hear it was dramatically more powerful.
