This is exactly what I said by the way. We only know about BotW 2 and usually we should know about more by now, but we don't, which is interesting to me. That was the point of my post yeah. Thank you for agreeing with me that it's strange that we haven't heard about anything else yet.
I am begging you, imploring you, to consider why we haven't heard about the near future yet because I have a hypothesis

First party games Nintendo has announced and coming out
Xenoblade 3 (low budget, iterative sequel)
Splatoon 3 (iterative sequel)
BotW 2 (heavily delayed, was probably supposed to come out already, also an iterative sequel albeit one that will probably add a lot of content)

To my knowledge, that's it. This is not normal, especially at a time when Nintendo is massively ramping up their software development budget and you would expect more first party games to be announced. There's a ton of games still coming to the switch, but they're not being made by Nintendo. Nintendo doesn't make Pokemon for example.
I know you did not just call Xenoblade 3 a iterative low budget sequel lmao

"How could there be a Switch Pro when Nintendo has very conspicuously and unusually not talked about future games yet?" asks local man

There is no way that somebody who called Xenoblade Chronicles 3 a "low budget iterative sequel" is trying to be taken seriously.

Cannot wait to play low-budget, iterative sequel “xenoblade 3” on my even-cheaper switch lite

And I'm pretty sure nobody in this thread would disagree with you. If that's all you meant then okay, we're probably all on the same page.

Which is still a hypothesis. I think and I wish that its true and a fairly big 1st party event is coming up... but at the same time, we're talking about Nintendo here. I'd never be even remotely sure that "something big" is on the horizon. never. The love to let us hanging for weeks and months and then suddenly, when nobody expects it, they show up. I hope that this exact moment is coming now.

You're correct that there's a lot about Nintendo's upcoming slate that isn't officially known, which would generally warrant a presentation on software. It's weird that they didn't hold this type of presentation last month and instead focused on third parties.

Why would this be the case? Surely these games must exist and ought to be announced prior to their release, yeah? What could Nintendo be waiting for?

yeah but y'know

that's a tomorrow at 10:01 EST conversation

til then there's no need to entertain anything but hype

On one hand, you got a big open world, tons of new mechanics, and tech that brings the current Switch to its knees.

On the other, you have a "low budget iterative sequel"

These cannot mix lol

OK.

Nintendo Switch - 4K Model
Reveal: July 13th
Release: October 20th
Will rely on DLSS to get up to 4K
'Launch' Games:
  • Mario + Rabbids: Sparks of Hope
  • Metroid Prime 4K
This is my prediction.

Locking it in now.
That works. October is enough time for my Amex cash back bonus to kick in.

It's hilarious that you all accuse me of being disingenuous while posting stuff like this. I was obviously talking about upcoming first party Nintendo games. I was talking about this in the context of a pro console and how this should effect Nintendo's software scheduling. Obviously that means games like Bayo or already released games really have nothing to do with this. But I know you don't care.

Bayo is basically first party tho

We know there are two games in the works at EPD 8 in Tokyo and that those games have been in development for several years. We know that EPD 10 are working on something. We know that Switch Sports just wrapped up, bar post-launch support, and that Splatoon 3 is close to release and will have post-launch support; we know Zelda is in the final stages of development; we've heard multiple reports of an EPD 4 game which may or may not release. We know more about internal development - 3 confirmed titles, 3 games from hiring calls, 1 leaked game - than we've known since 2017, funnily enough. We haven't seen this level of EPD output since 2019, when Nintendo launched the Lite.

We know that Metroid Prime 4 is in the works at Retro Studios. We also know Retro finished a project last year and that game has been leaked. We know Intelligent Systems and Koei-Tecmo have likely finished the latest new Fire Emblem. We know that Detective Pikachu is in the works at Creatures Inc. We know, from hiring calls and interviews that a bunch of Nintendo affiliates - Grezzo, Syn Sophia, Van Pool, Good-Feel - are at work on new titles, with Nintendo the likeliest publisher and partner of those games.

HAL, Game Freak, Next Level, Platinum and Monolith Soft all releasing brand new games this year - the first ever 3D Kirby; 2 games from Game Freak, including the first open world Pokemon; and a return to open world Xenoblade from Monolith Soft. Across the board, internal and external development is in full swing. I'm not sure we could find another Nintendo system passing the 5 year mark with this level of first party support in the works.

I think the name of the next piece of hardware will align with Nintendo's goal of iterating on the Switch rather than treating it in terms of "generations"

This is why names like Nintendo Switch Pro or Super Nintendo Switch or Nintendo Switch Next are probably off the table - they indicate a place in a linear timeline, where they are better than the previous iteration.

Something I see more likely is something that does not indicate that it's better, but instead indicates how it's different.

This is why Nintendo Switch - OLED Model makes so much sense. Especially when you line it up like this:

Nintendo Switch
Nintendo Switch Lite

Nintendo Switch - OLED Model
Nintendo Switch - OLED Model Lite

Nintendo Switch - 4K Model
Nintendo Switch - 4K Model Lite

Nintendo Switch - Bussy Model
Nintendo Switch - Bussy Model Lite
Not Bussy Lite

I wish we got info on budgets for games. Just like movies.

But I get why that doesn’t happen. And it’s probably for the best.

Can we not dogpile people who have since clarified what they were trying to say?
Its relatively harmless all in all. Somebody saying controversial and arguably untrue stuff will be met with responses. Its not like anyone was an asshole.

that image may not be fair but neither is you ignoring most of us while vaguely alluding to inconsistencies that don't really make sense or aren't pertinent to the topic at hand

I'm sorry but I'm just so sick and tired of this "Switch has no games" argument just because we don't have a new 3D Mario or Mario Kart. And it's not even this forum really, it's YouTube, reddit, and Twitter. We're getting four really big games in H2 and only one is "more of the same". Xenoblade looks epic for those who like that sort of game, Mario + Rabbids looks like GOTY material, and Pokemon finally entered the Switch era and gave us an open world and seamless multiplayer. We just got a brand new 3D Kirby, Switch Sports, Mario Strikers (however disappointing it might be), and a new Fire Emblem spinoff. We have a ton of great third party games and Indies coming out this year. Can we stop this bullshit narrative already?

After staring at beautiful water for literal hours in Sea of Thieves this weekend…

Nintendo god damn better bring on the wave race and take back the crown

there's no clarification for "low-budget iterative sequel"
Sure but that was likely said in a heat-of-the-moment way mainly because they felt the need to get defensive. We should try to be more welcoming IMO and try to wait for clarification of the initial point/argument before mocking and dogpiling people.

The best launch titles for the Switch 4K are gonna be the 4K/framerate patches for existing games

lookin @ u Bowser’s Fury
I personally didn't wanna predict whether we'll get any, or what they'll be.

If there's gonna be a major disappointment here, I could see this being it. Either we don't get any, or the few we do get are for only the most obvious contenders (BotW, MK8D, Splatoon 3) and not some of the games that may need it much more (Xenoblade 1/2/3, Hyrule Warriors: AoC, Bayo 1/2/3, etc).

Definitely hopeful for more, but I genuinely don't expect massive waves here.

Sorry for me joking about this but I heard this rethoric about 200 times already and your arguments probably merged with opinions from other folks in my head.
I kinda get your sentiment. But its really not that serious and saying stuff like "Xenoblade 3 is a sequel by the numbers" while the game didn't even release is equally as unfair as the "dogpiling"
