PLA should absolutely not be skipped. It’s a GOTY-tier release as far as I’m concerned.

No time! Elden Ring, Triangle Strategy, Kirby, ...
I just have no time for it and it just isn't looking that appealing. I rather take the next gen with many new Pokémon, a varied and new setting and cities.

official website
Website is up

btw, anyone want to talk about that "star" on the Japanese logo? It is well known that JP logo usually has the gimmick of each generation.

ask Nintendo and/or God for a Switch Pro. Things won't change until then
There are games on Switch just as intensive with much better technical fidelity. Obviously some of it is hardware limitations, yes, but not all of it.

I should clarify I'm looking forward to the game and loved Arceus. And I love the art direction in this game, and am willing to give GF the benefit of the doubt for now since Arceus improved a lot leading up to release. I just don't understand the idea that we can't critique the technical issues for some reason.

I think all the starters look amazing. This is maybe the first time since Gen IV where all the starters are classics out of the gate.

The character models are a bit off putting, but the setting and open world format looks amazing so far. I’ll be very curious to see how it separates itself from Arceus when it comes to interacting with the world.

Gotta admit, I was kinda hoping for a region not in Europe, like Africa or India. Happy for all the Spaniards/people with Spanish heritage though - much as I'm down on Galar as a region it does have a lot of British character I appreciated.

What do you think will be the name of the inevitable churro Pokémon ?

Wow, they actually sold people a tech demo with Arceus. I'm usually negative on first impressions and warm up to games as time goes on but I'm really, really impressed by how this looks from the get go. Fidelity is subpar as usual but the artstyle, colors, redesigned Pokemon models and textures, it's brilliant and far beyond anything GameFreak has done before.

This is looking to be their first actual, real, non-proof of concept home console game and I'm all for it.

Making the northern town a run down shithole that can't even have a proper gym is definitely an accurate interpretation of Britain, yes.

lmao Sprigatito and Fuecoco I can't

As a Portuguese speaker, I can already tell I'm gonna have a lot of fun with this game

It’ll be a great day when predominately brown and black countries get represented in Pokémon, but Spain is cool. Lots of Muslims there.

It looks closer to Legends than sword/shield but i feel but this is to soon. Their will be 3 large scale pokemon games in one year

Interesting the Scarlet logo looks kinda retro and 60s inspired while the Violet logo is kinda futuristic looking

What?! Sun and Moon we’re not unfinished at all and where quite complete packages with lots to do in the world. And while X/Y we’re not just favorites by far, they were not unfinished at all. They were very meaty.
You are correct, what I meant by last four was BDSP/SWSH/Let's Go and USUM (which is the least offensive of the four but had no right being two versions alongside other issues).

Again, I liked PLA despite being concerned during its first trailer, hopefully the same thing happens with this game.

I think Scarlett and Violet look absolutely fucking amazing, I was wrong about gen 9 not bring this year but they look fucking amazing.

nah every switch game with big areas looks like ass. bad processor and memory bus

Nah, it is a time and polish problem. Look at Breath of the Wild or DQ XIS.
We sadly have not many examples because most are ports and not developed for the Switch itself, but this isn't a Switch problem in my opinion.

I'm gonna have a heart attack, this can't be true

from the website, !!! so exciting

Various towns blend seamlessly into the wilderness with no borders. You’ll be able to see the Pokémon of this region in the skies, in the seas, in the forests, on the streets—all over! You’ll be able to experience the true joy of the Pokémon series—battling against wild Pokémon in order to catch them—now in an open-world game that players of any age can enjoy.

I it's basically what we saw but

I would disagree. Switch can absolutely and has done better than this. Maybe a tired example but botw still easily outshines any of the Pokemon games on Switch in terms of visuals and does it with a decent resolution/framerate.

Pokemon need a new art director...
The art direction doesn't fit the game and GF's capabilities at all...

And this is come from who have no problem with the graphic of the past game at all...

I will "quote" this again, a lot of this "visual" can be fixed with better art direction.
Don't try to be realistic... both Switch and GF can't handle that...

I think the issues here come from what happened with the last mainline Pokémon game where people overly focused, and still overly focus to a degree, on that one tree as a big reason why GF is technically inept. We saw this with PLA as well. I’ve always said it is a time thing and that Pokémon would probably benefit from a new business model change to start giving themselves lots of time.

Other than that if people are wondering how GF put out this & PLA. Multiple teams, lots of outsourcing, and probably made somewhat in tandem with PLA.

Art style looks great. Technically I’m sure things will improve but right now it needs work.

I’m very surprised we’re getting something this early but I cannot imagine GameFreak is doing this one alone. I do wonder if NCL or Monolith is helping with this one.

To echo others’ sentiments, I kinda agree; with this and Xenoblade 3 this fall, I think BOTW2 is 2023.

If Dexit is what it takes to deliver a real ass open world then so be it
