Damn looking really good. Seems to play like Arceus as well. Love the region inspiration.
If Zelda still makes it this year that’s an absolutely craaaaazy lineup.

This is insane!
So we got a huge game at the beginning of the year, and now one for the end of the year!

My initial reaction was somewhat mixed, because an overdosis of pokemon can take it's magic away. And the starters looked not very pokemon-like and more like fanarts.

But after digesting it all, I can safely say I am hyped for it after all! Starters already grew on me and I'm stoked to see what else new this installment will bring!

It already looks better than PLA, I'm playing it on my TV right now as I'm typing and the trailer already looks better by comparison. Still needs polish though, especially the background buildings.

Really dislike how young the trainers look, they appear like they're 8.

Kinda crazy to think Gamefreak will have released two full and large games in the same year once this releases. Not many devs do that.

I'm not gonna lie, I'm pretty hyped for this games.
I skipped BDSP and LA, so I long for some Pokémon. A new gen with an open world sounds great. And I also love the setting and the new starters.

So, aside from the fact that this game is going to be rushed (and is going to be rushed), there's also that fear at the back of my head that it could ignore all the positive changes that Arceus made to the formula like the natural transitions between battles and multiple and fast ways to capture Pokemon.

The player characters tell me the game is targeting a slightly older audience like Arceus was so I'm super happy about that. All Pokémon games now have characters customization so it's not like their designs really matter that much

One day.

I honestly hope Pokemon never is that visually noisy. Part of the reason Arceus has its claws in me is that it being so visually simple is so much easier to process after a full workday. Simpler times.

Needless to say, graphical issues aside, this looks so much more interesting than SwSh ever did.
It does, for sure. I kinda was expecting Pokémon Legends to have main series status, but I'm quite ok if this is how the classic series is going to be from now on

Do we have a welcome to famiboards gif yet lol

It's a new Pokemon game, so I'm going to get it... but I'm really concerned about it coming out so soon and I would kinda prefer it be a 2023 release to give us the ultimate Pokemon experience. I don't want another rushed mess like Sword and Shield. Incorporating PLA into the main gameplay loop definitely piques my interest though.

Starters look cool, water wins again though.

This looks like the Gen 9 game most of us imagine after Arceus, but a year sooner and there are surprising upgrades to the graphics of the Pokémon (textures!) and environments (lighting and asset density). I am FLOORED.

I don’t understand why people are complaining about the gfx. This looks like the best one yet, and it still has nearly a year of polish ahead of it.

I'm worried about ohmori directing and the region being unlucky, but if it plays mostly like the swsh dlc while looking like that it's gonna be the best new paired games since probably Gen 3 imo

Alright, actual thoughts on the game.

There's not much to go off of, but it looks...good? I mean I love these game warts and all, so I'm still getting them. I'm part of the problem, I know. But the environments and how Pokemon roam around in them, it shows promise. I'll just echo other people and hope that it isn't a rushed mess with good core elements, like Sword and Shield.

I'm one of those people who was hesitant on Legends Arceus being the future of the franchise, but mostly because of its deemphasis on battles over catching. I think if this game can combine the aspects people love about Arceus (overworld stuff, new quality of life) with the greater battle emphasis of the other games, I think we can have a special game on our hands. But if it isn't too much like Arceus I wouldn't be totally surprised. Please let the level design be good! That's the main thing lacking in the modern games.

Starter Pokemon are good. All three of em. Great new set.

Maybe its because the last 4 mainline games all had pretty clear flaws and unfinished content. We have past experiences to be worried, not "trolling".

I think some things look pretty good but I'm going in cautious.
Honestly, with the Arceus free patch showing us they're ready to experiment with updates beyond DLC, and the homerun that Sword and Shield DLC / its general post-launch support were I'm not too worried

This game can + will get 2 years of support and I can't wait

Maybe Legends was a side project they churned out with assets used for this game.
This.
Someone found a modern room in Arceus, probably it may appear in this one.

I didn't buy Arceus, but I'll buy this one, love me some open world Pokemon in modern era.

Every Pokémon game since at the bare minimum gold/silver had blatant glaring flaws.

I think you'll survive, somehow.

Am I the only one who'll miss fixed camera more linear Pokemon btw? I know a lot of people like the open stuff and I do too but I really enjoyed the simpler nature of fixed camera routes.

This is one time where yeah, you're probably the only one :p

It's not the style what I wanted to compare, which I agree is generally quite appropriate for what Pokémon wants to achieve artistically.

EXTREMELY low bar.

It's the bar Game Freak set last gen.

Yessssss. SPAIN! About damn time! Was wondering if my heritage would ever appear in a Pokémon game :D

MY GF IS FROM SPAIN OMG THIS IS LIKE AS IF A REGION RELATED TO YOU GETS MADE THIS IS AWESOME. I doubt theyll ever do the Netherlands lol so this is the closest thing ever. Never expected this lol.

The things is, SWSH shouldve had a post game outside of the DLC. Said DLC was quite fun and the bits with Calyrex were some of my fave legendary-related content in years, but it was extra money on top of a game that seemed lacking at full price.

Thanks for the comment. I'll remind myself not to expect too much of the tiny indie dev team that runs Pokemon

Yup, people (including myself) shat on arceus before launch and it ended up being possibly the best looking game on the system.
Lol STRONG disagree. The artstyle is putting in work for PLA. Everything else is a mess visually.

I still love the game though.

PLA should absolutely not be skipped. It’s a GOTY-tier release as far as I’m concerned.

The world does. I'm just talking about the whole Pokemon formula. The fact that this is releasing so soon from Arceus makes me nervous.

They can keep the Arceus catching formula but I need it to have the classic combat system. The Arceus one was extremely easy to exploit.

What?! Sun and Moon we’re not unfinished at all and where quite complete packages with lots to do in the world. And while X/Y we’re not just favorites by far, they were not unfinished at all. They were very meaty.
