MS: we just bought Activision-Blizzard-King
Sony: we just bought a studio you have never heard of
Nintendo: we bought Japan

In all seriousness

And I mean a serious thought and not a demand for Wario Land 5 made by the entirety of Nintendo's resources

Nintendo should invest in NST and NERD and turn them into regional development hubs on the EPD model

Hire and or abduct local talent from those regions to build their own teams and foster a creative culture with access to Nintendo's historic IP and the freedom to create new IP

Most importantly, abduct the Good People (not shitty management) from Mercury Steam and Ubisoft Milan and turn them into first 2 internal production groups at NERD

So we won..?

Sooo bigger News than MS buying Blizzard? Nintendo buying the whole japanese market with capcom, sega, konami, koei tecmo, platinum and square enix....

Meh, this aquisition race really sucks...

I'm so bummed out by a company buying a games company I don't want to play games

Microsoft killing the industry confirmed

Their loss because I was totally going to start Psychonauts 2 if I could be bothered this evening

Forgotten about Psychonauts. Could be the game I need to keep my mind off finding my cat dead this morning

don't take After Earth screenwriter Gary Whitta's bait seriously
For a second there I thought you meant Titan: AE, and I remembered that I used to love that movie. But I had forgotten there was another movie called Another Earth, and... oof

You know what's huge? PlayStation on Mario.

Now that is big.

No seriously, the Ps5 is way too large, I can barely even see Mari... Oh god he's turning purple! Someone help me get this thing off of him!

A few years ago, Square Enix said they were very interested in launching their own subscription service.

To build up their content portfolio, I wouldn't be surprised if SE tried to acquire/merge with another Japanese company.

They tried to buy Tecmo but the deal was rejected, and Tecmo ultimately merged with Koei.

To be honest between the Eidos(SE Europe), Square, Enix and Taito content they probably already enough to launch one.

For this to happen Nintendo's managers and producers would have to concede some kind of control (back) to NoA and NoE, like they did during the N64 era. Which should have, I dunno, happened over a decade ago?

Toshihiro Nagoshi
Patriach of the Sega Family
A Nintendo Subsidiary

I know he left Sega last year but I'm still making the joke damn it!
My introduction to gaming was playing my cousin's Sega Genesis (the NSO expansion pack has been a real blast from the past) and the Game Gear was my first handheld. Nintendo acquiring Sega would be a far bigger shock to me then todays gaming news.

I didn’t vote in the new poll, but my answer would be something along the lines of watch each other play Hollow Knight

The video game industry and streaming industry are hilariously going in the exact opposite directions as would be ideal. Give me more independent game companies and fewer streaming platforms plz

The streaming industry is going to have a mini crash at some point and consolidate. Right now it is the hot market to get into but that growth can only be sustained for so long. At some point there will be mergers, acquisitions, and closures. Streaming options will be a lot different ten years from now.

What are the chances that Phantom Hourglass and/or Spirit Tracks get remastered and ported to Switch alongside Windwaker HD? It makes more sense than bundling Windwaker HD and Twilight Princess HD IMO.

I'm sure we will get both of those games in HD form, but I don't think they will be on the OG Switch. Right now we have BOTW 2 and WW/TP in the pipeline. Also I think the Oracle games will come before the DS games.

They will come, just not any time soon.

So.. after listening Nates latest Nate the Hate Podcast, how are you feeling about "Zelda: Breath of the Wild 2", do you think they are still gonna releasing it this year? I know they are still speculating and disscusing, but they are leaning on 2023, wich makes me scared tbh.

There is more evidence to suggest that BOTW 2 will arrive in 2022 than 2023.

It's somehow taken 12 days but my collector's edition of No More Heroes 3 has finally been cleared for delivery by UK customs.

Looking forward to finally having it before too long. Think I'll set myself the goal of playing Psychonauts 2 before I start No More Heroes 3.

I'm confident in Zelda this year. Really, I have no reason to be skeptical;

We've seen enough of the game, and Nintendo committed to a release window midsts a pandemic (which they've been very careful to do lately, announcing games with a 3 month gap of release, or less); I think it's safe to say everything is on schedule.

speaking of Hollow Knight, the other day I was thinking about how many charm notches Kingsoul took up

and you should have seen the face I pulled when it occurred to me that the charm notch cost was too great

Other - Watch them play Undertale.

*correction watch them play Undertale and weep uncontrollably.

Ok. I didn't say it couldn't be delayed. I said there was more evidence that it would be releasing in 2022 than 2023. What is the evidence that it would get pushed to next year?

There are none at this point... I don't understand why are People already seeing the Game 2023 rather than 2022.
I mean since the E3 and maybe a climpse at the TGA we haven't seen anything from the Game.
