Keep in mind that Triangle Strategy has been dated as well. I can see Advance Wars or Kirby getting a release date via Twitter before the eventual Nintendo Direct.

Triangle Strategy isn't Nintendo in Japan, and Advance Wars isn't in Japan at all

For the love of god if they insist on doing Johto again please let me be able to obtain evolution stones easier. I shouldn't be stuck with Vulpix until post game. One of the mind bending choices they made with the johto games. How hard is it to make them be bought in Golden Rod city?

I would probably actually play another Let's Go

insane that (imo) Let's Go Pikachu/Eevee are the only Pokémons on Switch that look good

I think Sword and Shield look great, particularly in battle, but apparently my expectations are too low.

I wish I had the mindset that would let me see the Switch Pokemon games as looking "amazing" :(

Seriously, it sucks not being optimistic and happy about stuff, but I can't force myself to see those games' presentations as anything but mediocre-to-bad. The best I can do is making myself not care as much, and I'm definitely doing that for Legends Arceus because I want to give the game a fair shot.

I never had a huge gripe with SwSh they are fun. But they were made more fun thanks to the expansion pack. That said, I do think that BD/SP are also cool for nostalgia sake. Legends has a cool art style imo. But when I look at the games overall and their weakpoints. I think I disliked the story of Sw/Sh the most. Even though the surroundings + Pokémon were great imo. The pop-ins didn't bother me as much at some point, but you do expect something better from big franchises.

I realised that D/P miss too much diversity and that is what makes the games worse. Looking at Sw/Sh where the diversity is much bigger. I hope we have some nice diversity in Arceus as well :)

Let's Go's graphics are technically competent but aesthetically ranges from bland to occasionally bad (I very much do not like the human character models).

Sword and Shield are generally pretty good aesthetically, with some notable exceptions, but there's a lot that doesn't really work great technically, and the engine pretty visibly is not well equipped to handle the "wild area" maps.

BDSP is a very mixed bag across the board, with some really notable misses in both the aesthetic (some of the character models, especially in the overworld, at times overly aggressive depth of field) and technical (some of the larger areas have incredibly visible shadow cascades) areas.

I'll reserve judgement on Legends until it releases, but a lot of the trailers have shown an art style I can see they're trying for, but isn't really coming together.
Out of interest, is anyone expecting we will get a new Pokemon Let's Go game based on Gold/Silver or was the first one a one off? I quite enjoyed the first game
Probably a one off. Not only is it sort of a conceptual dead end, but it's a game that probably required a specific confluence of circumstances that's unlikely to happen a second time in order to get made in the first place.

don't forget

dont forget

Plus, I don't know the state of date reveals but the last direct before Yoshi's release date drop in January 2019 had happened in November 2018, while there was an Indie World in December 2018 and an Indie Highlight in January 2019. So a February Direct was obvious.

For the 2018 January Direct mini, the last Direct had taken place in November 2017. No Indie World.

Currently the last direct was aired in October 2021 (the Animal Crossing one). There was nothing at TGA. Indie World in December. Unless we're due a Pokemon Direct or an Indie Highlight, their marketing team is begging to spill the beans at this very moment.

Or not.

I genuinely liked Let's Go. It's my favorite of the Switch Pokemon games. I really think the overworld Pokemon (for shiny hunting)is why I feel that way lol. Nothing gave such a thrill then entering a route and seeing a shiny Pokemon in a patch of grass. It's the simple things for me lmfao.
I think that pokémon sword and shield are the ugliest games I've ever seen

this is the magic of subjective preference
It's okay. It's not great but I don't think it is terrible. It's just not what one should expect from the Switch tbh.

This might be a weird take, I feel kinda weird that I even think it, but I'm playing through Borderlands 3 and there's something about the presentation and gameplay that makes it feel like a 90s PC game to me. Does that make sense?

The most glaring example to me is whenever this one character telepathically (I think) communicates with you, a video snippet loops on the top of your screen of a real person in hair and makeup making generic facial expressions, and that felt like such a throwback thing that it started making my brain pick the rest of the game apart too. And now this modern game that I'm playing on a console with eych-dee graphics just somehow feels old and PCish.

Is that weird?

I'm probably weird.

Now that I think about it we should be getting an overview trailer for Legends tonight, the Thursday three weeks before seems to be the latest they’re willing to do those

(Also Legends was just thrown up as the first game under “Featured” on the Eshop so perhaps that has some significance?)

As much of a meme as the N64 tree became, it really does actually look like something out of an N64 game.

In general, though, while Game Freak is not a studio anyone should have very high technical expectations of, Sword and Shield are really pushing it sometimes even by their generally lower standards.

I expect Legends news (obvious)

I also expect a Kirby trailer/release date Twitter drop this month for late March. Nintendo always gives at least 2 months to announce release dates

A friend of mine just pointed this out, but Nintendo’s newest celebrity video shows off a new version of the UI for Legends Arceus

Did you play the game or are you relying on the screens shared on the Internet ?

I won't go as far as saying that it is a gorgeous game but it definitely had some nice moments :

The Wild Areas were however rough, until the Crown Thundra which had a great color palette.

Still not perfect, but far from worse looking game ever imho.

I just want a god damn Splatoon 3 release date so I can start counting down to the work vacation I am taking when it's out lol.

I was with my sister while she played most of it

I just really hate its color grading and how it's lit

Oh, completely forgot I haven't decided yet. I'm #TeamMarch, @Raccoon .

Just because I have a feeling Nintendo likes to rotate between February and March.

Prepare thine selves for another year of doom and gloom as Nintendo doesn't mention any summer presentations with E3 once again going digital

I'd actually say Kirby, being it's first 3D entry would probably get like a dedicated segment in a Direct, to be fair

I feel like it’s been a while since they’ve straight up done a deep dive on an already announced game during a General Direct. They didn’t at all in 2021, so I’m not sure if that’ll happen (although I certainly wouldn’t be opposed to it)

But how will people know they’re online!?

An Overview Trailer of Pokémon Legends Arceus has been posted.
It seems highly unlikely that there will be a Pokémon Direct.

Playing through Jump Force on PS4. I was also debating on buying it for Switch, but I've never seen it cheaper than $40, which is not a price I'm paying for Jump Force.

$20 on PS4 (CAD), that's alright I guess.

No clue why a Japanese Legends Arceus overview trailer would cause literally every Nintendo account to not tweet for the entire day

Although the last time they did this was right before the Mario Anniversary Direct, I mean, it’s not like they’ve got any anniversaries to celebrate this ye- WAIT A MINUTE

I may be over thinking it.

Personally I loooved the visuals for let's go. I liked let's go in general actually but sadly ruined by a terrible exp system like became the case with the games after it. Gamefreak really needs to rethink this imo.

Pretty weird that Pokemon overview trailer isn’t in English yet and there are still no previews/reviews for Arceus in sight.

I said it at the start of the thread, but Kirby remains the game to watch. If we don’t get a Twitter drop or mini direct next week to give us that Kirby March release date, I think we’ll get a general direct somewhere in the following three weeks.

Kirby really did become pivotal to this hype season very quickly

Why is everybody so confident about Kirby coming in march? There are any leak about it?
Nintendo needs a solid game to close out the fiscal year and Kirby is clearly next in line. Triangle Strategy isn’t that game despite the massive love here and also isn’t published by Nintendo in Japan. Advance Wars according to the eshop is in April and also seemingly isn’t coming out in Japan at all.

Kirby feels like an April 29th game to me. Benefits from Golden Week in Japan, a month after Triangle Strategy, and a bit of distance from Advance Wars.
