Well unfortunately I'm pretty sure I'm ringing in the new year with COVID despite my negative rapid test on Thursday, because I now have congestion, sore throat, I was getting chills last night, runny nose, etc. Feels like the flu, but I got my flu shot, sooooo

Oh yeah, this is the only Christmas movie I make sure I watch every single year and the ending always elicits tears.
 
Nintendo on Jan 2: "We understand that our fans are very excited for the sequel to the legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, and while the game will be at E3, we unfortunately had to delay it into 2023. Thank you for your understanding."
 
I was today years old when I discovered there were helpful lore / vague hint screens you could scan in the Metroid Prime save rooms

same goes for realizing you could scan save stations
 
Very LTTP, but on a whim fired up the Dragon Quest XI S demo and good lord is that a nostalgia trip with the sound effects and stuff. Definitely going to have to pick up the full game even though I haven't played a DQ since the Nintendo Power promotion for the first game.

It's absolutely insane how much of a JRPG powerhouse the Switch is. More insane is how quickly the genre righted itself after the PS3 years.

Zelda has a history of being regularly delayed while the other franchises don't. Which... to be honest, is pretty standard for pretty much every Japanese RPG series.

It’s on espn plus. Obviously they need content for what people are paying for, but I’m here for it. I’ve been watching lots of cricket since I upgraded my Disney plus to the bundle. Fun to see all these sports that don’t have mindshare in the states. It does seem like red rover but with tackling.

So? It doesn't mean it'll happen everytime. If we don't see it in the February Direct then I might start to worry, but it's too early right now.

This is what I'm thinking. I feel like it was initially targeted as 2021 and that 2022 is the delayed date. Especially since Splatoon 3 and Xenoblade 3 were both reportedly targeting 2021, I wouldn't be surprised if the "2017 part deux" was supposed to be last year, and then the heavy hitters got pushed due to covid.

2021 also makes sense because of the anniversary.
 
This missed Direct announcement on January 1st might be the biggest insult by a major gaming company in the past decade. I literally screamed "FUCK YOU" at my screen. I knew they never done it on January 1st but the hype they created made me think they were just going to surprise us with it anyway. Absolutely unacceptable to do this to us. Once they knew Nintendo Direct was expected, they should've just announce it.

Yeah, I bet AoC DLC was planning a reasonable release window I.e. released a few months after the game, not 1 year later for the 2nd wave. Then BOTW2 would be released 6 months later at the end of 2021. Hopefully we'll hear in Feb about Zelda again.

Runny nose is normally not typical for Covid.

My plan of total Frog domination of my Animal Crossing island is finally at a tipping point. Today I was able to get my 6th frog to move in, making it a majority.

Well, yes and no. What it'll be is more like the February Direct in 2019, I think. We'll get dates on a lot of games we already know are coming, but we'll also get announcements for a few new games to fill out the "summer" timeframe (2021 Direct did this too). Games like Link's Awakening and Astral Chain, for example.

But we still need a Direct in order to announce Xenoblade 3, Chrono Cross Remastered, Chrono Trigger coming to NSO, Chrono Trigger HD-2D, Earthbound Trilogy, and Donkey Kong Country Returns Once Again.
