I haven’t played Color Splash myself, but my general understanding was that the gamepad usage was more or less trivial. Unless I missed something, it seems like one of the easier remaining Wii U ports to me.

Color Splash's touch screen controls are cumbersome and they would need to rework it and the UI. Also the game sucks and the reception was poor so they would need to redesign the gameplay to even bother re-releasing it.

Well that's good, because we need cartridges, not disks. Or discs, for that matter.

see this is why posting leaks is a bad idea, you Fami folk are too smart for your own good

I suppose now I also have to reveal that Mattel is buying Nintendo and the remake will be a HyperScan exclusive

Sure, but that applies to most Wii U ports. Wasn’t even reviewed all that terribly and the poor reception was more towards the reveal and poorly implemented gamepad usage than the game itself.

I see it happening eventually, it’s a good filler title once the general Paper Mario stinkstorm dies down.

To go from a remake of the beloved Thousand-Year Door to a port of the stinker that is Color Splash would be a hilariously flippant slap to the face for the fans. I don't see that ever happening.

DISCLAIMER: this is just a list of the notable first-party wii u games, with the ones that are available on switch, or the ones that don't need be ported because a sequel makes them unlikely to come to switch (splatoon, smash, mario maker) crossed out. it doesn't mean splatoon 2 or smash ultimate are ports, and also doesn't mean everything has a chance of getting ported (nintendo land, etc).

Amiibo Festival for the next Direct confirmed!

So many nostalgic covers. It's cool how many games have made it onto Switch and fun that Nintendo Land, Game & Wario, and Yoshi's Wooly World haven't yet but have some great memories for me.

I would want both games. I've played both games and Color Splash has some of the funniest dialogue in the series.

it doesn't really matter how popular a game is with the fan base, it's more important that games that are stuck on a dead platform get ported so they can be carried forward for a few more generations. unless a game is truly irredeemable trash it wouldn't hurt if it got a switch port.

That's why we need Dual Screen back for next gen, need all (3)DS and Wii U games to work

Aside from the Zelda games, I think Yoshi is the most likely to get a Switch port

well…I was going to start my podcast Wednesday, but I don’t want Nintendo to get spooked again and delay. So I’ll hold off, you are welcome

NES Remix is probably the weirdest absence from here. It seems like an easy port.

Partner direct on the 21st is the only thing I’ve seen.

Bummer cause I work that day lol
That actually tracks because I have a dr's appointment at that day, damn

All this month we were paying attention to insiders while we shoulda been following the Old Rules

Do we know if there's still going to be a Switch 2 reveal in March?
As far as I’m aware no one has said anything since the news of the internal delay came out. So it might happen, it might not. I’d expect something closer to a press release saying it exists if it does happen.

the March reveal talk was pretty recent

I feel like for that to have changed the Switch 2 delay would have to be a decision Nintendo just arrived at in like the last week or so

In the upcoming Direct, are we expecting a Microsoft game? If so, which one(s)?

I recall reading the reports that Hi-Fi Rush is coming to Switch and then a rumor that the port was cancelled, so personally, I think Pentiment is most likely. I expect we'll see the floodgates on Microsoft game announcements for Nintendo open up more once Switch 2 is announced. Hi-Fi Rush screams "Nintendo audience" to me for whatever reason, but the game being Series S/X-exclusive makes me suspect the game might be best served by Switch 2 (or at least getting a Switch 2 version eventually).

Pentiment is the only realistic one, an unstable 30 FPS Hi-Fi Rush would not be well received.

You know a post is good when it's 80% disclaimer

I have to assume that the two most likely times to get a reveal (even if it’s just a statement or something very minor) are either March in advance of GDC/in leadup to the end of the fiscal year and start of the next, or in early May during the financial briefing and numbers forecast. Either way, even if it’s not officially announced then, I think that it will be pretty obvious between these two events and everything surrounding them.

Honestly, like Sony's first reveal for the PS5 (without the CES presentation with a brief rundown of the hardware), I think the most we will get until the second half of the year (and probably more like September/October than June), is a logo/name - maybe "coming in 2025".

I tuned out of this thread and fami as whole for a break. I finally beat god of war ragnarok and found some online games to play.

I’m dedicated to my backlog

IMO, the only ones left of this group that I think have a realistic chance of getting ported to the Switch are (in descending order of likelihood):
-Wind Waker HD
-Twilight Princess HD
-Xenoblade Chronicles X
-Yoshi's Wolly World
-NES Remix Bundle

I was just thinking they'll probably deploy the Zelda ports since the Switch is delayed.
