Oh wow I'm watching Arthur right now. Kinda confused seeing this

Anyone here have experience sending their Switch in for a console repair? How did it go? My fan gave up the ghost after hanging on for 30 hours of TOTK (it was dying beforehand)

I’ve only ever sent joycon (which has its own process that I don’t think is the same) but my fan is definitely getting worse with TOTK. Todsy it started to just sputter randomly instead of constantly blasting like it has been. Might ride it into the sunset and get an OLED.

Too bad the Deck thread was locked. I was about to get philosophical again wrt the device. Such an interesting piece of hardware, yet I've never been 100% happy with it.

Funnily enough I'm pretty sure Pokemon ScaVi started the problem, that was the first time my fan would be really loud and the Switch would overheat. My launch Switch couldn't handle that busted-ass game

TOTK might be the first game I've ever heard the fan on my Lite. It's definitely getting every square centimeter out of its specs.

John Wick Chapter 4 was damn good, but I still think I’d place Fury Road above it since Mad Max is just a smarter series in general, if that makes sense.

Just posted this in the RPG ST, but thought some others might be interested too, the Dragon Quest Dai video game should be getting a release date announcement in roughly 48 hours.

I had been very slowly watching and really enjoying the anime, but I fell off a few months ago as I’ve been focusing hard on playing games in my free time. Good fun show though, would definitely recommend it.

I've done a pretty significant health/training journey the last half year or so, I had a goal set for my birthday earlier this month and since I beat that, but also felt I had more in the tank I joined in on this fun event at my gym which gave me another stretch goal over 5 weeks to drop my bf (which the entire even was about)

And with only two weeks to go, I thought I'll add Ring Fit Adventure to my workout schedule during lunchbreaks to give me some extra gains :p
While I did start the game at launch and played for a wee bit. I dropped it quite early, so I'm going in from the start but ramping up the didfficulty quite a bit compared to when I played it the last time.

I booted it up during lunch break today, and the ramped up difficulty definitely makes this game a lot more challenging than I remember it being.
Looking forward to add this to my daily routine

Remember this Zelda ad?

Someone tracked down the review on Amazon Japan that inspired it, and someone must be cutting onions in here...

"I am a working adult, so-called businessmen. I’m jostled by the commuter rush, bowing down to customers and bosses, being forced to train junior staff and doing many things, and I end up working overtime every day. Even the mountain I see on my way to work, which I don’t even know the name of, irritates me. When I get back home I’m dizzy and have no energy to eat food, so I just drink alcohol and sleep. If I have time to play games I should be going to seminars or looking for a marriage partner, which makes me more impatient than I should be. I spend my days plainly wondering why I’m still alive.

I went to buy alcohol because I ran out and saw the Switch on sale in the shops. Then I remembered the day. When I was a child and really into Mario 64, my friend said, “lame to play Mario nowadays! Now it’s the era of PlayStation!” and I felt embarrassed. At the time, I didn’t want my friend to dislike me, so I also remember that I replied, “Yeah, you’re right. Mario is already old-fashioned!”

The beauty of FF7 at that time and the shock of being able to listen to the CD on TV… the recent kids may not understand these feelings. That’s how attractive and innovative it was for kids back then.

I’m still not sure why I picked up the Switch at the time. I just held a beer in one hand and bought the console and Zelda, thinking I could sell it if it was boring.

Yesterday, my work day, I looked out of the train window at a mountain I didn’t even know the name of and thought, “Looks like I can climb that.” At that moment, I burst into tears and couldn’t stop. The businessmen of the same age who were beside me must have thought, “What the hell is this guy.”

I would recommend it to all my fellow businessmen who are pressed for time and scrambling day after day to maintain the status quo, even if everyone hates you. Don’t say it’s just a game. We were born during the golden age of video games. Have you ever seen your family move their entire body when Mario jumps? Do you remember playing Mario Kart or Smash Bros with your friends bringing their own controllers? Have you ever discussed Chrono Trigger or FF7 strategies with your friends? Now I know. When I was a brat, my parents bought me expensive consoles and software for my birthday, Christmas and something. My parents, who were always nagging me, managed to raise money from their living budget to buy expensive games for me.

I’m touched to belatedly realize many things that I didn’t realize due to the busyness of living my own life. I should have been more filial.

The 5-stars reviews are all good ones, so there’s nothing for me to talk about now. This Zelda gives me the “challenge and reward” I forgot about. I can freely explore the world without maps, it’s an exciting adventure experience. People my age are sick every day to overcome tomorrow. But don’t despair of your life. The adventure I wanted was in such a place.

P. S. I feel like thanking this Zelda and I would like to apologize to the Mario 64 development team and Nintendo. I’d like to apologize for the lies I told that day, saying that Mario 64 was old-fashioned, even though I loved it. I am sincerely looking forward to Mario Odyssey being released this winter.

Postscript, 7 May: after 180 hours of play, I got all “recovered memory” and saw the ending. More than anything, I’d like to thank all the people who read my awful, long, cluttered and embarrassing review written emotionally. I’d also like to thank all the people who gave it a “helpful” rating, not only for reading it. I’ve never been appreciated by so many people even in my job. I really enjoyed my 180 hours spent running around Hyrule. I’d like to thank not only Nintendo but also all the Zelda fans who have continued to support Zelda. Thank you for a great adventure."

That postscript. That postscript gives me joy.

Man, went to check my weight yesterday again (once a week) and it's the third week in a row where i actually gained weight, despite not eating more (double checked with the Mrs.) and actually doing slightly more RFA stuff. (Just a couple of minutes more...)

It does feel frustrating.

He's doing this in Link cosplay, sword and shield in hand, as a Bugatti is rushing towards him in the middle of a crowded street in Miami.

(I just saw Fast X this weekend and this is in the movie)

Gotta wait until a TV channel airs it. I'm not giving them any money, sorry Vin. ^^

🕯️🕯️🕯️🕯️🕯️ who's ready for the playstation showcase🕯️🕯️🕯️🕯️🕯️

If you're expecting this, you're likely better off stopping to be ready.

SQEX usually does DQ stuff on their own. Even that Infinity Strash game is getting it's own even rather soon.

Since I don't have a PlayStation and don't expect them to show many things that are multiplat or specially releasing on Switch, I honestly don't care that much.
Will they show good things that I would enjoy? Definitely, I wish I could play Spiderman, and 2 will probably be fucking great. But I won't get hyped to watch trailers of games that I'll see being played on twitch at the most.

I agree with bonejack, don’t think this will be there :/ Probably its own stream or at a Nintendo Direct.

No need for that ":/". Not appearing in a Sony event lowers the risk of said Sony doing shitty ass exclusitivity purchasing for it and the game actually ending up as multiplatform.

That's why i'm at the "as little 3rd party games as possible in the showcase" position.

This is true, but it is also a bit of a running joke here that recent State of Plays at least have featured a decent amount of games also heading to Switch lol.

Maybe if this was Persona but this is Dragon Quest. SE would be incredibly dumb to not put DQ on Switch.

Every PS/XB showcase so far has been mostly for adding games to my Switch (and Steam) wishlist

Muscles are made with exercise, weight is made in the kitchen. Not only how much but more what you eat and how often.

FF16 being PS exclusive kinda sucks ngl. I wan't going to play it anytime soon but Devil May Fantasy sounded like the kind of game I would've definitely played over my summer break.

I don't know if there's gonna be an ST for The Idol over in The Roost, but after the latest reviews from Cannes methinks it's gonna be a helluva stinker which I'm supremely disappointed by. Everything leading up to it before the original showrunner got axed held immense promise, but after Levinson warped it and The Weeknd sauntered along not knowing any better...

I'm not even put off by sexual content generally but even I'm raising eyebrows at how supposedly hypersexual, grotesque and revulsive this first episode is going to be based on a scene after Lily-Rose Depp's character first meets Abel's.

Levinson is gonna be on thin ice after all this if his name is even going to be attached to Euphoria S3 at this rate. As for The Weeknd...I just hope he still makes music I enjoy (whether he kills off his moniker and goes by Abel Tesfaye or not)

Hey.

It sorta sucks to gain weight when you feel like you're doing things right. Just bear in mind that the body isn't entirely consistent (so a kg or so may not be "real" weight gain), and that ultimately it's more about what goes in than about working out. If you are exercising more or less regularly, make sure you also work on what you cook.

Series X. Apparently the Switch version runs at 30fps which is kind of a bummer.
Thanks for the heads up. It looks amazing and I wanted to get it on Switch. Apparently it doesn't have gyro, so the "big" console is the way to go.

Oof... I saw the trailer and it kind of felt as something that wanted more controversy about itself than something to watch for entertainment. If it at least had good impressions and WoM I could reconsider, now it seems avoiding will be the right decision.

Without having seen either show (but both on my watchlist at some point), I almost imagine Levinson wanted to create a bastard child borne of Succession and White Lotus but incredibly more pornographic.

I'll still watch the first episode and report back my thoughts come June 4th but my expectations are below the sub-basement of the Famiboards servers as of now. It's just a shame that the original premise held a lot more captivating interest to me, (Wikipedia)

On April 25, Variety reported that [Amy] Seimetz had left the project amid its creative overhaul, with roughly 80% of the series already filmed.[22][25] HBO released a statement following Seimetz's exit, saying: "The Idol's creative team continues to build, refine, and evolve their vision for the show and they have aligned on a new creative direction. The production will be adjusting its cast and crew accordingly to best serve this new approach to the series. We look forward to sharing more information soon."[26]

Levinson reportedly took over Seimetz's directing duties. According to IndieWire and other sources, Tesfaye wanted to tone down the "cult" aspect of the story,[22] and felt concerned that the show was "leaning too much into a female perspective."[27] Levinson embarked on a reshoot and rewrite of the series, scrapping Seimetz's approach to the story — a troubled starlet falling victim to a predatory industry figure and fighting to reclaim her own agency — to instead depict a love story, with a heavier emphasis on sexual content and nudity.[22]

What's really sad to hear is that "leaning too much into a female perspective" was the reason for the script re-write as if that's a bad thing. It definitely should have been her story on screen as opposed to some quasi-manipulative consensual relationship.
