Nothing to back this up aside from the concept of an anthropomorphic horse pilot, but one has to assume synergy, a character crossing between F-Zero and Starfox.
In Starfox, he can try spinning; that's a neat trick.
You can also spin attack in F-Zero.

Plus this is canon:

I guess Pokemon Legends Arceus is coming to Amazon Luna

🙃

googles Amazon Luna

...how did I miss news? Didn’t know this existed

Lol. Well, maybe I did know but it’s cloud gaming so I didn’t care for it? I don’t know. Pretty funny tho

Hey Sus, you got your clown nose ready for tomorrow's Indieworld? I got my clown music playlist ready.

How is the phase-through not going to be completely broken? Surely you can't just fly upwards through every mountain, right?
Judging by the patent, you can’t phase through surfaces, whether it is the entry and/or the exit surface(s), that are more than ~30 degrees from the horizontal. You also can’t phase through a hollow object. I bet that there will probably be a phase distance limit too.

BRUH Freefalling combat, means we will have some sick air combat stuff, i can see link grabbing on to creatures flying in the air, jump off shot them, etc. We might be eating nice boyz

that’s my secret, magic man… I’m always wearing clown shoes

but I’ve long since tempered my expectations. I said a long time ago that I didn’t expect to hear anything until this September at the earliest, meaning I’ll only start getting sweaty if we don’t hear anything by next September.

If we see it tomorrow, I will totally fucking lose it. But I’m also filled to the brim with internal calm (about this and only this) and have literally zero expectations for Indie World. Like no matter what’s in it I am unbothered.

But if any of the things I want show up I will definitely be an excited nuisance.

also why was this a response to my butt blast comment??

I can already see the bonkers stuff that will going on in Speedruns

Those BotW2 patents are very exciting. Hopefully we're not reading too much into them and this actually means you can phase through flying islands on command. I'm more excited about the mid-air maneuverability, however. 🏹👀

Now I really want the hookshot to come back because being able to Spiderman your way between enemies and falling objects and shit in freefall would be rad as hell
AIR FIGHTS WITH HOOKSHOTS

You could tell The BOTW devs loved the slow motion bow and arrow shooting.

Last thing 99% of BOTW players probably did in a play though lol.

I still can’t see how phasing would work well. Granted I’m no dev and we seen like nothing so I might not have a good imagination

Tbf I'm a very unskilled BotW player, but used the bow and arrow slow-mo a lot as it's a simple button press. I've never pulled off a flurry rush because it needs proper timing haha

Pretty interesting to read these descriptions and see these drawings

It was briefily shown at 0:43-0:46 in the E3 trailer (the start time should be tagged in the video below)

I still can't get over how completely coherent, unique and evocative the Zelda team's art direction is for BotW and this. Just the shot here with Link falling down, which doesn't have a whole lot going on per se, is so perfectly composed. Not a graphic artist so it's hard for me to give words to it - it just looks wholly unique and evocative, but also elegant and polished. chefs_kiss.gif

Free falling...those patents. I really don't want to get my hopes but it really feels like we are going to get a trailer on the same level as the second trailer for Odyssey which showed the main gameplay ability for the first time and blew our minds.

5 years of development despite having the assets and engine ready, they must be packing this game to the brim and lots of experimentation.

I can't wait lol.

I know he doesn't have a good reputation but Zippo on his blog is saying that Persona 3 Portable and Persona 4 Golden are coming to consoles including Switch in 2022 as part of the 25th anniversary.

I want to believe...😅

I don't have words to describe how genius is this.
Wow, those look super interesting. I'll look into them in more detail later.

Generally as a rule of thumb Nintendo don't allow any patent applications to be published prior to them revealing a product if they actually plan to use that invention. I guess this doesn't really apply to software/in-game patents?

I've already figured this one out, after some serious thought.

In all honesty, things I think could conceivably be announced during the remainder of the Persona 25th Anniversary Year (scheduled to run until Fall 2022) instead of any P1-4 re-releases:

  • Persona 5 Arena, released 6 months after P4AU to split the playerbase just for a laugh
  • More merch
  • Persona mobile gacha game (or Dx2 event if that's still going)
  • Persona 3/4/5: The Stage comes to Netflix
  • MORE MERCH
  • Persona 3 Strikers and Persona 4 Strikers, two full price games that each tell half of the same story with their respective casts (post-launch DLC Persona Strikers 3+4 Unite featuring a crossover scenario and true golden ending)
  • Persona Puzzle League
  • Would anybody like some more merch? We've prepared some blind box items
  • Persona The Cafe: Velvet Room Experience opens in Tokyo for a month, torturing staff by having them wear prosthetic Igor noses and Teddie suits
  • Official Dojima and Iwai body pillows as Atlus realises gay guys continue returning to this franchise like pay pig gluttons for punishment
  • Persona Season Stars, a cosy farming sim starring Persona characters
  • Persona Seasoning Stars, a cosy cooking and restaurant management sim starring Persona characters
  • Persona Sea Stars, a cosy fishing sim starring Persona characters
  • An eventual Persona 6 announcement (a single screenshot of a blackboard or some school chairs or some other random furniture with an intriguing strapline and the promise of it Coming Winter 2024)

People have been begging for this for the last few years. Gonna need some receipts on this one.

In all fairness, Zippo called Persona 4 Arena Ultimax.

You can be unreliable while having 1 or 2 good sources, those are not mutually exclusives.
A stopped clock is also right twice a day

Didn't a lot of people call it? I feel like it's been rumoured for a while, and several people here mentioned it as a guess (joke?) too.

With the exception of some regulars here who I think are trustworthy (and usually quite measured in their teasing!), I honestly don't know most people's 'credentials' though so try not to worry about it too much. I would, naturally, love to see any of the older Persona games ported to current hardware and would play them all again. I've been considering starting another P4G playthrough on Vita after wrapping up P4D so I am jonesing.

He mentionned it on July 16th so it is before Famiboards was created.

Yeah, I am not losing much energy over this. Jason said P3 is coming so we should get news on that front, the new piece of info is that it would extend beyond PC, we'll have to wait and see.

P3P on consoles prayer circle it is, then!

I’m gonna just try and pretend there is no anniversary and no expectation of news so anything that does happen can surprise or bemuse.

I was thinking about that when I first saw the patents. But except the one for midair bow steering, the other two were shown in the trailer;

Yeah they were teased but it still surprises me that they allow the details of these mechanics to be published like this.

Though I don't know if they've ever really tried to patent game mechanics en masse before.

Anyway here are some more interesting drawings from the patents applications:

Since I'm way too lazy to read these applications at the moment (when I'm not getting paid to) we can at least look at some of these and infer that the terrain thing will indeed be relatively limited. You need a non-sloped surface, the surface needs to be close enough in height, the surface can't have spikes or other protective elements, the landing zone needs to have enough room to accommodate Link plus his collision box (or whatever other boundary layer that is), and you can't do it while only partially under a surface.

The bow falling thing looks to be extremely dynamic on the other hand, allowing you to aim in all different directions complete with different animations/poses and camera orientations. Should be really neat!

The rewind drawings aren't that interesting so maybe I'll actually look into the description a bit more soon.

Predicting a Persona 4 Arena rerelease isn’t exactly a hard guess considering March 2022 lines up with the tenth anniversary of the original game and Arc is definitely super proud of it, would champion a rerelease, and would like to make a Persona 5 Arena if they didn’t keep picking up more work.

I do believe mainline Persona will come to Switch, but that source is not trustworthy (posts prior in the thread laid it out) and they shouldn’t be viewed as right the times they correctly guess/piggyback off others. The 25th anniversary gives way too much cover for someone dubious like that for predictions being varying degrees of correct. Best to forget about them and be happy if/when it happens.

So in the "rewind" application I found something interesting:

Here, examples of transitionable or changeable states of the movable object OBJm include damage, burning, electricity resistance, leakage, freezing, and disappearance, depending on the material of the object. In the return movement, such transitionable states are not caused to return to a previous state. Even during the return movement, the transition process of changing a state is performed irrespective of previous states.
Basically this means "rewinding" an object affects its movement only. It won't suddenly de-burn an object on fire or melt an object that was frozen. What's interesting about this is that this means you can for example take a barrel that enemies roll at you, set it on fire, then "rewind" it back to them so that the now-on-fire barrel crashes into them and blows them up.

I can imagine some pretty ridiculous puzzles with this function.

EDIT: Also I'm kinda shocked this info isn't bigger news. It's very clearly and in lengthy detail describing new mechanics that will be used in BOTW2. How is there not a thread on this yet?

That sounds a lot like an extension of the time freeze pad ability

My god, this literally substantial news lol. I really want to see the mechanics in action!
